Wiring under the MotherBoard: a Glimpse of how the Universe works

We are trapped in a world of too much infor-mation. Innocence is gone for us. We cannot expect to cross the Rainbow Bridge through a good act of contrition; that will not be sufficient.
We have to understand.
Terence McKenna (1946-2000)
American philosopher, author, ethnobotanist and visionary

With the onset of October, country communities in the Northern hemisphere are preparing for winter and ‘death’ of the Earth, farmers gathering up strawbales for feed, ploughing and planting overwintering crops. Meanwhile in the cities, activity usually turns to entertainment or to seasonal frivolity—thoughts inwards are not usually the province of mass media. But societal consciousness has changed and now, where it used to be the ‘news’ that people watched, it is the internet, with increasing mass communication of End Times, not entirely uninfluenced by this month’s Calleman version end-date of the Tzolkin Calendar of the Maya on October 28th. On that date, he says, humanity reaches the top of the Ninth Wave, the peak of the nine-step pyramid of Underworlds/Consciousness: the End of Time as we know it.

Autumn this year, however, has brought out the youth of humanity into the streets in droves. The young ones have decided enough is enough; time to speak up about world conditions: Occupy Wall Street *(OWS) has burgeoned into Occupy Chicago, and Los Angeles (second week); with Occupy Maine and Portland,OR., Dallas, Boston (from Oct.6), Dublin and Phoenix (Oct.8, Yom Kippur) Iowa and London (Oct.9, Day for Trees), and including a flurry of Occupy cities scheduled for October 15th, World Revolution Day, collectively marking World Food Day, Columbus Day and Canadian Thanksgiving. Cities—and countries—joining the Occupy movement this week include Montreal, Canada; Brussels, Belgium; Sweden, Holland, Finland and France.

It is no mean feat to camp out in foul weather, with storms predicted—which mid-October often brings—with donated food, little shelter, less money and no end in sight. Yet, this is what the movement is prepared to withstand, in order to get a message across to their audience—the ‘fat cats’—that the underdog has tolerated intolerance and inequality long enough and it’s time to make a stand on human rights.

Truth cannot be told, so as to be understood, and not be believ’d—William Blake
[If the truth can be told so as to be understood, it will be believed]

It is no coincidence that mainstream media has ignored the Occupy movement. It appears to be too sensitive an issue to report responsibly. It touches too many sacred cows that have been allowed to roam for so long and eat all the pasture; so that amazing technological extension of human consciousness—the internet—has picked up the slack.

The worldwide web has been alive with the OWS movement, with wild stories as well as heart-warming intimacies, spreading faster than mainstream negative news is capable of reporting. The internet has come into its own.

The internet has always had purpose: to bring together MINDS. FB and Twitter are just the fluff on the exterior blowing into the winds of change… there is a deeper connection we are beginning to see and need to appreciate and use. This extension-of-Mind was foreseen by many visionaries, but we, the Now generation—from teenage OWSers to aging Baby Boomers (now outnumbered by the teens)—are still here and can make it work for us.

Mind, consciousness, creative thought have always been Mankind’s blessing, his headstart on the lesser animals, but the Earth is straining under her human shackles. She, too, wants to be free.

The Earth, like her biological inhabitants, seems to be responding to that End-of-Time ‘attractor’, a point beyond the human now, a future dream coming closer—McKenna’s ‘Dwellpoint ahead in the temporal dimension’, his Eschaton.

Glittering entity attracting us into our future... ALMA's first deepspace image, Catseye nebula

This scintillating object glittering in hyperspace, throws off reflections of itself, which actually ricochet into the past, illuminating this mystic, inspiring that saint or visionary, and out of these fragmentary glimpses of eternity we can build a kind of map, not only of the past of the Universe and the evolutionary progression into Novelty, but a map of the future.

Human history represents such a radical break with the natural systems of biological organization that preceded it, that we are now in shock.

I think people have a very narrow conception of what is possible with reality, that we’re surrounded by the howling abyss of the unknowable and nobody knows what’s out there.

Western religions have persistently integrated into their theologies the notion of a kind of end of the world, Ascension, stepping into heaven-on-earth. It seems that is not going to happen according to any of the orthodox religious scenarios, however, but through basic human will and intuition.

The Universe her/himself—that great Being we dare not see as intelligent—seeks closure in a kind of omega point of transcendence. And s/he will take us, the Earth, the Sun, the solar system and the Galaxy, along with her.

Ritually tuning into the earth...

This is what shaman- ism has always been about. A shaman is someone who has been to the end. He knows how the world really works, and knowing how the world really works means to have risen outside, above, beyond the dimensions of ordinary space, time, and causality. He has actually seen the wiring under the board, stepped outside the confines of learned culture and embedded language, into the presence of what Wittgenstein called “the unspeakable”.

This presence will yield knowledge which can be brought back for the good of the community. For 90% of human culture, the shaman has been the agent of evolution. He learns techniques to go between ordinary reality and the realm of ideas, this higher dimensional continuum that is somehow parallel with us, available to us, and yet ordinarily occluded by cultural convention out of fear of the Mystery. Shamans have been able to de-condition themselves from Society’s instinctual distrust of the Mystery, in order to go into this bewildering higher dimension, and gain knowledge. They recover and bring back the jewel lost at the beginning of time: to save souls, cure, commune with the ancestors.
T McKenna, 1997

Almost invariably, the shaman who finds himself in the transcendental presence of the Other is humbled. But with practice, he becomes wise; and in nearly every indigenous culture on planet Earth, this Universal wisdom is shared.

The Land of Gaia
‘Shamanism is not a religion; it is a set of techniques, and one of the principal techniques is the use of visionary plants. These natural psyche-enhancers dissolve boundaries, and in the presence of dissolved boundaries, one cannot continue to close one’s eyes to the ruination of the earth, the poisoning of the seas, and the consequences of two thousand years of unchallenged dominator culture, based on monotheism, hatred of nature, suppression of the female.’ The Archaic Revival, 1991

McKenna found shamans acted as exemplars, by making a psychic journey to the domain of Gaian ideas, and then bringing them back in the form of art, and meshing them with the human struggle to save the world. The planet has its own intelligence, and under certain circumstances it will actually open a channel of communication with an individual human being.

Kiesha Crowther's new book: Message for the Tribe of Many Colors imparts earth wisdom to see us through End times

McKenna’s reverence for the human body and the planet Earth is echoed—without herbal help—by Kiesha Crowther, ‘Little Grandmother’, also a shaman, chosen keeper of earth wisdom for the Tribe of Many Colors, and from childhood a lifelong outdoors-living person. Having spent countless days and nights in the high farming community of Colorado, she is able to tune into her heightened sense of (other) life around her, speaks to birds; she can intuit an elk on the highway up ahead. She has developed her own natural shamanist gifts, reinforced by a neglectful upbringing, and enhanced by spending a lot of time alone.

Her deep connection to nature brings her into ideal relationship with her surroundings: the Earth, her ‘Mother’. She has learned to communicate with owls, river water, puma, the Earth Mother herself, on an intuitive level—without words—but often in pictures.

She gets a tingly feeling, tastes straw in her mouth, smells violets or rain, and knows that she is sensing a being nearby. She trusts her own inner voice, she listens to messages from the trees, a blade of grass, a bee. She has been bailed out of some tricky situations by listening to this ‘voice’.

Now in her early thirties, she walks forward proclaiming that we should all stop right this minute and tune into what the Earth is—really—saying. Then we would have no hesitation in stopping oil drilling, copper mining, damming salmon rivers and seeding the atmosphere with manmade storms. The Earth has, after all, always supplied our needs, given us everything we have ever demanded. But she is getting restless, tired of giving, without replenishment or simple gratitude.

Mother Earth, too, is sentient. Kiesha agrees with McKenna that it is time to take better care of her, or she may not continue to be quite so tolerant.

Kiesha says:
‘Never take anything without being given permission. We are suffering the consequences now of being planet-robbers.’

Her respect for the Earth Mother is much highlighted in her new book, ‘Message for the Tribe of Many Colors‘, published last month by EarthMother Press.

Humanity going through sudden change, evolution speeding up at an unprecedented rate

Human beings are going through a pivotal shift that almost all life-forms go through, but there is something quite unique about us. We are evolving and changing at a supersonic pace that has never been seen before in the Cosmos. We human beings are going through an evolution of consciousness, making progressive leaps much faster than any life-form before. For this reason, we have caught the attention of other beings in our galaxy and in other galaxies. It seems that planet Earth is like a child in its spiritual evolution compared to other places, and yet we are growing and making giant leaps in consciousness, because of our special placement in the solar system. Great bursts of energy from our Sun are helping to speed us up and raise our consciousness at a pace never seen before.
Kiesha Crowther, Message for the Tribe of Many Colors

She has learned that, however much negative people and outmoded opinions influence and put pressure on us, we can derive strength from this ultimate test to our spiritual will and reach through the hardest adversity to communion with our Higher Self, our Oversoul.

She believes that we can endure almost any hardship for just a little while longer until the love train starts to kick in. But it’s up to us to remember the goal, however hard our present circumstances. The movement is happening. People are beginning to live from the heart, rather than from the head. We are beginning to think as One. We are Ascending…

…But, things are falling apart. What do I do?
Kiesha now travels extensively, sharing her earth wisdom and assisting in placing specially-energized crystals in the earth at strategic points. This, she says, will help stabilize the earth grid which is also sensitive to negative manipulation by those who take what they please. She has often been asked what to do when things go crazy. Her suggestions for the End Times:

...plant a garden, know how to grow your own food, find a place to nurture your family...

Stay in the heart:
Secure loved ones & families;
Collect seeds and plant a garden;
Learn how to live sustainably, find out how to access clean water and make use of clean energy;
Instead of spending money on trinkets, buy things you need for your family; essentials which will support you and that will sustain your life through difficult times ahead.

‘Get a home, buy land if possible, grow food, store seeds, know how to grow a garden, find clean water—these are the things we should be doing to support our lives right now’
Kiesha Crowther

Turn off History

‘The twentyfirst century is the shudder that announces the approaching cataracts of time over which our species and the destiny of this planet is about to be swept.’

Coming from vastly different backgrounds, Kiesha from poverty, McKenna from the intellectual stratosphere, it is profound how much both visionaries share: in fact it’s fairly apocalyptic. Both are convinced that “History is ending”: that our generation is witnessing the revelation and purpose of the cosmos. McKenna said “History is the shock wave of the eschaton”. Crowther says “We are the strongest of the strong”, the “ones we have been waiting for”, and that we have chosen to be here to witness and help birth this time.

What this means for those of us living through this transition into hyperspace/love dimension, is that we are privileged to watch the greatest release of compressed change since the birth of the Universe. But we are also witnessing a coming together of vast groups with a common bond. It is vital we see the big picture and do not get caught up in the “old” news tactic of focusing on the negative.

The light of the Universe is made up of photons; there is no anti-particle. It's all light

The Big Picture is what is happening; differences are being laid aside. It is particularly apt that new initiatives are being led by the young. It is a long time since such freedom was witnessed and encouraged… the Boomer generation of the ‘sixties is now old and grey. But their ethos is still alive and well in the minds of the OWS youngsters. The message is not altogether alien. Flower power and ‘living in the heart’ have a similar ring.

The new physics is a physics of light. Light is composed of photons, which have no antiparticle. This means there is no dualism in the world of light.

The shockwave has huge reverberations, however.

OWS (and other) Occupy movements are taking hold; showing us a little of the wiring underneath the Motherboard. We are getting a glimpse of how the Universe works in demonstrating a coalescing of minds, bodies in the streets, consciousness in computerdom.

EarthDance founded in 1997, held Guinness book of Records 'greatest world drumming event 2004' in NoCAL; now a worldwide equinox event

“House music and rave culture and rhythms are rediscovery of the art of natural magic with sound; and percussive sound can change neurological states. Large groups of people getting together in the presence of this kind of music are bonding in a telepathic community strong enough to carry the vision out into mainstream society. I think the youth culture that is emerging actually sums up Western civilization and points us in an entirely different direction.

We arrive in the third millennium, in the middle of an archaic revival—a revival of these physiologically-empowering rhythm signatures—a new art emerges, a new social vision, a new relationship to nature, to feminism, to ego.”
Terence McKenna Alien Dreamtime

Paradoxically, computer networks display a deeply feminizing influence that society needs to change its mind. (Kiesha suggests we ‘change the channel’). In the hardware, the unconscious is actually being created; and, as we are learning pretty quickly, consciousness equals reality.

Both shamans would agree that the Unconscious, the deep feminine, is that part of us which we have neglected. It is time for its magic to reemerge.

The real secret of magic is a world made of words, and if you know the words the world is made of, you can make of it whatever you wish

Tonight the Moon is full in Aries – usually a great influence for action. If Calleman’s accelerated date is correct, the pinnacle of the pyramid, the beginning of the New is only two weeks away. He is not alone in his calculation. October 28th 2011 is 13 Ahau in the Tzolkin, named ‘Return of the Ancestors’ in Mayan prophecy: a signal, perhaps, that we should all step up to the plate and serve if we are to become friends with the Earth again. Because she feels mistreated, she may have a few more storms to blow before she believes us.

Wildlife-friendly East Field median strip was featured in 3 crop circles this summer; all sited along the line leading the eye to Bronze Age Knap Hill amphitheatre (N)

The Human race is already transforming. Are we prepared for consciousness evolution at a speed never before contemplated? We have to take our future in our own hands: help the needy, share the food, plant trees, and accept our responsibility for being here at this special time on this unique planet.

A simple crop circle sequence appeared in October (top and left) in East Field—out of season—the third occurrence this year along the same line-of-sight. Just like the Java crop circles in January and the Mexican crop circles at spring equinox, they highlighted the farming community’s care for wildlife, reverting to cultivation by traditional natural methods of nurturing the earth—no huge machinery—just a strip of carefully-planted food.

Famous East Field formation, double-bladed axe, vesica piscis dimensional formation of July 2010. Surrounding archaic script has yet to be interpreted

East Field is in croppie language a byword for the **hub**. The first of the nouvelle vague circles appeared here in the 1990s. Here is where light orbs are sighted most frequently, electrical equipment fails, ultrasound shrieks, the water table suddenly goes dry, and people experience spontaneous healing.

East Field, like Etchilhampton, is run by the good guys: farmers who add a little extra for wildlife. In Kiesha’s terminology, the Earth Mother is speaking in dulcet tones, approving where we show care for her; in McKenna-ese, the Other is stepping through the time fabric and leaving us his/her calling card. Either way, crop circles of 2011 have highlighted farms where earth nurture has taken precedence over earth rape. Perhaps we are beginning to please the Mother, after all.

We have to make a start somewhere. The youth in Wall Street, London, other cities of the world, have shown their card. We countrydwellers have to show our hand, too. We can plant our gardens, show respect and gratitude for our food, decline to shop for unnurtured sources of supply. Take care of the soil and the water. Go off the grid. If the OWS youth can show us the way, lend us their strong bodies, we oldies can stand on their shoulders and reach for the sky.

The Universe is, after all stretching down her hand to help us up.

11:II:11 Navigating the Vortex: our Quantum Leap

February 12, 2011

Vortex, maelström, whirlpool: Nature's basic mechanism for transporting mass and energy effectively

“Nature seems to be a Book written in the Language of Mathematics” Galileo (1564-1642)

As communicators, we bloggers may sometimes feel we have been speaking but the words are not coming from inside our bodies. The words have been coming from somewhere else…

“For several months, we have been moving forward and are being released in small increments. We are in the birth canal –the tunnel– and in that space it is near impossible to ‘see’ anything. We feel we are not connected to anything. Alone in the tunnel, we have been traveling on a raft with no wind behind us, no oars and in still waters, with no-one to left or right. But now we are moving forward and this new movement is creating the strange feeling of being in two places at once.” Karen Bishop Emerging Earth Angels

Lightworker Karen Bishop suggests that the sensation of being lost, disconnected and alone will pass as humanity moves through this intermediary stage and into the great mass awakening to follow. This new sensation of bliss and purpose comes as soon as we “are enmeshed in our new spaces in a higher dimension.”

Schrödinger's Cat: quantum uncertainty principle (1935) reduced to the absurd

Higher dimensions, Alternate Reality, parallel Universes; the quantum paradox of ‘many worlds’: an unending conundrum of being in two places at the same time. Particle physicists pursuing the ‘God’ particle, Higgs-Boson, endlessly around circular underground tunnels on two continents. What do these concepts have in common?

Uncertainty principle: math simplifies quantum reality

Higher dimensions –or alternate ones– are presently the preoccupation of particle physicists, quantum cosmologists and proponents of the holographic universe in our search for the meaning of Reality. Physics, cosmology and mathematics are crossing the boundaries between science and philosophy.

New Age lightworkers are becoming more assured and vocal in their prediction of a mass awakening in human consciousness. And it looks as if science is beginning to agree.

Max Tegmark, astrophysicist, cosmologist and professor in the physics faculty at MIT in Cambridge, Mass likes the idea of parallel universes: the quantum mechanics (QM) paradox of a particle’s ability to be in two places at the same time. He sees mathematics as our ultimate connection to reality. “Math is not something we invented, but something we are continually rediscovering.”

“We now have equations that describe how light behaves, how gravity behaves, how atoms behave. We can express the speed of light in mathematical terms. It is beautiful. In math we capture the essence of a very complicated Universe out there.”

What if we were to see the Universe not as an entity that exists inside space and time, but that space and time exist inside it?Max Tegmark, Prof. of Physics, MIT

Anton Zeilinger, author of Dance of the Photons 2005, translated into German as Einsteins Spuk, ‘Einstein’s Spook’ or ‘Ghost’, has a different view. He currently heads a team at the University of Vienna who have ‘teleported’ light photons 600 meters under the river Danube. He and his Austrian team of photon-busters have proved (in their ‘double-slit’ particle experiment) a basic quantum theory that we change the nature of reality simply by observing it.

“(Quantum Theory of Reality) is exciting, it is extremely precise, it is mathematically beautiful; and it describes everything. It just doesn’t make sense.” Anton Zeilinger

Quantum cosmologist, Leonard Susskind, professor of theoretical physics at Stanford University since 1979, says the beauty of math’s connection to reality is its simplicity. It becomes easier to describe reality with mathematics. “As you probe deeper, mathematics becomes the ONLY reality.”

But in sounding the depths of the cosmos, he uncovered many unanswered questions, e.g., the popular assignment of black holes as the bad guys of the Universe. He and Stephen Hawking discussed the black hole theory in 1988 when Hawking first published his Brief History of Time. “It changed my life.”

” I believed he was wrong. I spent the next 20 years working through the evidence to prove lt.”

Hawking suggested black holes were places in the cosmos which swallowed everything. Nothing escapes after it has breached the rim — event horizon — of a black hole. All light, matter, energy, information is sucked in by its (theoretical) huge gravitational pull and is lost. Nothing comes back out.

“Hawking had to be wrong. I refused to believe everything could disappear. We can’t allow information to be ‘lost’. Instead, how about if the horizon of a back hole is 3D like a hologram capturing 3D reality of everything that falls into it?”

In 1993 he and his graduate students announced their holographic principle of the Universe: that if all reality were indeed a hologram — a 3D model of everything captured as an image of our reality — maybe black holes were images of events taking place very far away: back in time; that our reality is a projection of a holographic record stored at the outer reaches of the Universe. The team became bold. They called a consortium of the world’s top physicists to a conference at Stanford in November 2009 and Susskind invited Stephen Hawking to speak. By then, Hawking was talking about ‘sideways’ or lateral time. But he was interested in Susskind’s holographic theory. And Susskind’s team was about to put it to the test.

“He didn’t get it. You don’t get it. Nobody gets it. But we may be about to prove that the whole of creation is a hologram.”

If the Stanford team is right, their model brings quantum cosmology, the ‘Many Worlds’ interpretation and New Age spiritualism into the same arena: We are what we believe, what we think and how we see our own Reality.

Or even more spiritual in concept, that Susskind’s ‘something stored at the outer reaches of the Universe’ might be the Intelligent Being/Source from whom mystics and devotees seek enlightenment.

Does this mean that the Cosmos is coming full circle?

We are having an intelligent conversation with the Universe.

The Universe may be providing its own answer to the question.

The Sun and solar system gravitate each year to and from Galactic center (of the Milky Way), coming closest in mid-December. It is a point on the ecliptic roughly in the constellation of Sagittarius from which (in the view of many esoteric disciplines and world religions) we emerged in the dark recesses at the beginning of time. In the view of some (physicists, cosmologists) Galactic Center is a black hole. To others (esoteric/New Age science), it is the source of a massive emission of photons, beaming information towards us, a ‘photon belt’ affecting Earth and human DNA. And we are circling in an irrevocable spiral back towards the point where on December 21, 2012 Earth’s orbit in the Solar System, the Sun’s position on the ecliptic and the center of our Galaxy will line up as one.

We may reach this galactic vortex unscathed. In the mythology of the Maya, this is Hunab Ku, our galactic heart; a sign that the Mayan Long Count Calendar is complete and that Mankind will start a new Count of Time.

In world mythology, earth was ground out from the mill of the Vortex, the great Maelström, the cosmic whirlpool. And so, in the eyes of the Maya at least, we are returning to that vortex, that pool of creation.

According to some Mayan scholars, we entered the last Underworld (phase of human evolutionary Consciousness), the Universal Underworld yesterday.

In the eyes of Karen Bishop and other New Age lightworkers who have been working tirelessly to prepare for the ‘Shift’ (in human consciousness), the runup to our rendezvous with the heart of our Galaxy is a sign of our Ascension, ‘coming home’, maturing as a species. To the fearful, solstice 2012 could mean chaos, collapse of Earth systems, erratic solar and stellar behavior; even a physical shift in earth’s poles.

The Sun, our partner up there in the immediate galactic neighborhood, has indeed been leading us a dance lately. Solar activity is on the increase.

Tiny solar burst crop circle in rice at Magelang, Java January 29th, 2011

We are currently headed for solar maximum, but it’s not sunspots –traditionally seen as the barometer for solar minima and maxima— that have featured, but strong warnings of solar flares disturbing our geomagnetic field.

NOAA’s solar X-ray alert system [view sidebar at right] has been signaling ‘major storm’, ‘active’. Twin crop circles* in Java in late January were followed by a third small design reminiscent of last season’s Wiltshire solar flare warnings.

Spaceweather alert.

And last weekend the Sun itself joined the 3D holographic universe.

Last Sunday, dubbed Superbowl SUNday by NASA and the media, February 6th 2011 marked the day when the space agency’s twin STEREO satellites locked into orbit round the sun and started projecting 3D pictures of both sides of the sun back to Earth.

Affectionately known as STEREOAhead and STEREOBehind, the craft were launched in 2006 on a mission to study solar flares [coronal mass ejections, CMEs] to predict solar storms headed towards earth. The two craft reached their final position [in ‘opposition’ to each other, 180ºdegrees apart] so NASA, SOHO, and SDA are now combined to beam a wholistic continuous view of the sun back to earthbound systems.

“We expect great advances in theoretical solar physics and space weather forecasting.”

Heliophiles are jumping for joy. The 3D stereo images arrived just in time to document new coronal holes forming on the sun’s far side, which are heading to face towards us.

STEREO went into orbit round the SUN last Superbowl SUNday

STEREO is an acronym for Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory. The two satellites now join forces with SOHO [NASA’s Solar & Heliospheric Observatory] which has carried the load of solar projections to date.

“In the past an active sunspot could emerge on the far side of the sun completely hidden from Earth. Then, the sun’s rotation would turn that region towards our planet, spitting flares and clouds of plasma, with little warning.”

Now, in the runup to solar maximum, 2012, these first 3D stereo images bring into focus our need to prepare for possible solar disruption to the geomagnetic field and earth’s electromagnetically-powered systems.

Coronal Holes, imaged from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory

Coronal holes on the sun’s surface are the source of open magnetic field lines from which high-speed solar wind particles stream out into space. This fast solar wind travels at approximately 800 km/s [about 1.8 million mph].

When this surge reaches Earth’s magnetosphere, predictably three or four days later, some spectacular fireworks can occur. Usually the spaceweather team tries not to alarm earth populations more than they really have to. So electromagnetic disruptions to power supplies and weather systems are downplayed. Aurora borealis –northern lights– are emphasized instead.

UV image of same solar holes: coronal flares heading earthwards

“After traveling through space for a few days the particles will impact the Earth and may spark the formation of some auroral activity for lucky spectators” NASA

In NASA’s study ‘of the nature of coronal mass ejections’ the agency is not responsible for reporting on physical repercussions strong emissions [M-class flares] may have on communications, logistical and transportation systems. There are three categories of flares, X-class, M-class and C-class. C-class flares are small, with few noticeable consequences in the geomagnetic field. M-class flares are medium-sized, capable of causing brief radio blackouts, affecting Earth’s polar regions. Minor radiation storms sometimes follow an M-class flare. The largest, X-class, flares are ‘Superstorms’, major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. Earth’s last major Superstorm blackout was the Carrington Event of 1859 when telegraph systems behaved erratically. But at the time the electric light had not yet been invented. **

150 years later our systems are massively dependent on NOT having magnetic surges play havoc with our electrical supply. Not to mention our telephone, television, cells, blackberries, macBooks, iPods, iPads… you get the picture.

So, is our Universe shaking its quantum hologram fist in our faces and saying ‘shape up or else…’? [In that context, we, reflections of the Intelligent Source, may be setting ourselves the test to see if we are ‘intelligent’/evolved enough to pass it].

Maelström, vortex of the Norwegian Sea

Or, is the vortex going to win? Is the black hole going to pull us in? Are we navigating the cosmic whirlpool alone with no-one to save us from drowning?

Mythology and spiritual belief predict Mankind has enough presence of mind to make a quantum leap in consciousness, to save itself. History says it’s never too late to start anew. Native American and Maya traditions say now is a good time.

I hope we’re listening.

Galactic Stillpoint: Longest Night on Earth

December 21, 2009

‘Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known’
Carl Sagan In Memoriam

Stone circle and midwinter sunset light

It is Solstice. Tonight is the longest night of the year for planet Earth’s northern hemisphere dwellers. It is at midwinter when all animals (except the human creature) go within, curl up and meditate in their own fashion; and wait for the light to return.

Neolithic farming communities in Scotland between the 56th and 57th parallel dragged massive 50-ton blocks of stone over the snow to form windows on the sky.

Recumbent stone circle at winter solstice

They took time out from their hard agricultural working life to create ‘recumbent’ stone circles which would mark forever that point on the horizon where the sun set at winter solstice. Five thousand years ago solstice was celebrated with fire. They’d learned that fire embodied in the Sun seemed to disappear forever; then was miraculously rekindled, reawakened and with it their land, their precious earth on which all depended, would respond; it began anew to nurture seed into growth, to produce fruit and harvest all over again.

Fire festivals reenacted fire of the dying sun in stone circles

Flames from solstitial fires reached for the heavens all through that cold winter night.

It must have seemed like a miracle at solar standstill when, after disappearing for seventeen hours, the sunlight returned and days began to lengthen once more. Seventeen hours of darkness is a long time if you live in a cave, an earth dugout or a stone mound.

The human subconscious appears to retain partial memory of this primordial condition which animals have, because in northern latitudes midwinter is often celebrated to an irrational degree. It is as if at a cellular level we remember that after galactic stillpoint is reached, the Earth starts to awaken once more and we realize that the Universe is going to keep on turning. What a blessing. What a miracle. What better reason to rejoice?

It is said our biological form is quintessentially-adapted for language: that the Word has created in our brain’s motor centers a highly developed auditory discrimination, with rapid muscular response in tongue, lips and palate; but we were not its makers. It was a gift from Creation which we have evolved to a remarkable sophistry. Fire, on the other hand was Man’s ultimate discovery.

At the forty-fifth parallel of latitude, in the cave vaults of Choukoutien near Beijing, a heavy-browed paleoanthropic form of Man with a cranial capacity as low as 860cc gnawed marrow bones and chipped stone implements. His time lies 500,000 years remote from this and yet in those years of the second Ice Age, this Man, with scarcely two-thirds of our modern cranial capacity, used fire.

Is it any wonder, then, that world mythology is filled with tales of sorcerer-priests who conjure light, the hero-giant stealer of fire from the gods? In discovering fire, were we not amazed at our ability to do as the gods themselves, to create Light?

In that dark cave half a million years ago ‘Peking Man’ created a spark which dispelled the darkness. His was the crucible which contained our entire human future. Have we not ever since – at a cellular level – been searching to return to that same realm of Light?

Round Zodiac of Dendera, from 50BC during Roman rule of Upper Egypt

In our reaching for the stars we have for generations been guided by mythology, world religions, the ancient astrological zodiac calendar and by our own deep need for an otherworldly force which is both strong and loving. In myth, the goddess Ishtar/Isis is the celestial mother/lover (Roman Venus); in a crossover with astronomy she is seen as the stella maris, the heavenly guide to mariners, the star of the (celestial) sea, Sirius, Canis Major, the brightest of the fixed stars, whose heliacal rising marked the beginning of the Ancient Egyptian calendar on July 19-20: end of zodiacal Cancer, beginning of astrological Leo.

In Babylonian legend, the redeemer of the world, Celestial Man, is expected to rise from the heart of the (cosmic) Ocean.

Ancient Man looked to the heavens for inspiration. Medieval Man was convinced heaven was right out there among the stars. It is only we, modern homo (so-called) sapiens who forgets to do that kind of communing with the Universe.

On the other hand select niches in our society still seek: within the scientific establishment the search for extra-terrestrial life (SETI) continues apace. Carl Sagan, exobiologist, astronomer and visionary, along with his colleagues at Cornell, created a fashion in the early ’70s for that kind of exploration.

He said:

‘We are starfolk, but we live in the galactic boondocks where the action isn’t’

and took steps, aided by NASA, to communicate with any advanced civilizations out there which might deign to reply. In sending the Pioneer 10’s message plaque of gold-plated aluminum to a star region in the vicinity of Taurus/Orion, they hoped to trigger a response from any listening/receiving civilization.

Pioneer 10 gold-plated plaque continues to travel for 80,000 years

His argument was that any evolved star-beings who were less advanced than us (and in his day, we earthlings were only ten years into being categorized as ‘advanced’ ourselves), would be incapable of responding. Only civilizations more advanced than us would understand the message and have the capability to reply. He also rationalized the graphics of the message sent: reasoning that other galactic residents might not understand English, German, Swahili, Urdu; but they would understand mathematics, astronomy, physics.

Shortly after launching interstellar spacecraft Pioneer in March 1972, SETI directed efforts to beaming radio telescope transmissions to the stars. The latest of these was sent from Arecibo, Puerto Rico towards the Vega-Altair-Deneb triangle in 1999. By that time radio frequency was a speedier means of transmission than the fuel-propelled Pioneer space vehicle where a destination of even the nearest star (four light years distant) would not be reached for 80,000 years.

Besides they reasoned that if any civilizations were listening in/eavesdropping on us the Arecibo message was joining a century of transmissions from our planet, starting with Marconi’s first wireless communication in 1897.

It is thirteen years since Carl Sagan’s premature death on winter solstice 1996. He would be intrigued to learn of the massing body of evidence in favour of extra-terrestrial communication. The crop circle archive alone is superb. Not only does it communicate in the languages of science he advocated (mathematics, physics, astronomy), but, based on his premise that a more advanced civilization would find a more sophisticated means of communicating with us than we had with them, their graphics succeed in touching us at a cellular and emotional level, as well as pointing us to the stars.

Ancient World religions like the Judaic, Arabic, Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek and Vedic faiths have frequent admonitions to look to the stars, to ‘observe in the east’, to watch the heavens for signs.

Our society is on the cusp of the year 2010. We have a Space Station partially operational; Hubble and SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) are in orbit; CERN has just collided atoms at an unprecedented rate in the tunnels below Geneva in Switzerland. We are technically advanced.

What about our spirit?

Neale Donald Walsch says:

Individuals — if their thought (prayer, hope, wish, dream, fear) is amazingly strong — can, in and of themselves, produce such results. Jesus did this regularly. He understood how to manipulate energy and matter, how to rearrange it, how to redistribute it, how to utterly control it. Many Masters have known this. Many know it now.
Neale Donald Walsch Conversations with God

If our heads were not so clouded by traffic jams and mind jams and living in a race for security and success, we might pause for this moment of solstice – the last in a single digit year for a century – and look to the heavens with awe. Two of our neighbours in the solar system, the crescent moon and Jupiter, shine brilliantly together shortly after sunset in the night sky. We have just experienced a multi-colour array of Geminid meteors emanating from the constellation which follows Orion through the night, with our brightest star, Sirius, stella maris, hovering below. It is the season for aurora borealis, which has already peaked over the Canadian Arctic. These are ‘commonplace’ wonders. However, we have also been treated to some unusual cosmic ‘signs’.

Spiral of light over Tromsö, Norway on eve of Obama's Nobel Peace Prize acceptance

On the day that President Barack Obama was travelling to Oslo, Norway to accept his Nobel Peace Prize, a spiral of light appeared in the skies over Tromsö and reflected light down to earth for twelve minutes ending in a circular hole of light. The spiral is an archetypal symbol representing cosmic force. It was used by all formative cultures in their art: civilizations from the Neolithic North Britons to Celtic Gaul, Egyptians, Japanese, Hopi, Nazca, Arabic, African and Hindu all use this representation of Cosmic Energy. Its appearance added to world spiritual expectation of a sign in the heavens to herald the birth of a New Age.

Great Eye of Sauron in Fomalhaut

Surrounded by these new signs, we may not have noticed that there have been a number of transmissions from Sirius; not beamed, like the crop circles, via light or laser technology, but in a method which travels equally as fast. Using a transference common in the realm of mind messages or ‘channeling’, an entity calling itself SaLuSa speaks from the Galactic Federation through Mike Quinsey, using the most comforting and inspiring words of encouragement to those of us experiencing difficulty adjusting to effects of the long predicted ‘end-times’.

‘We ask you once again to keep your eyes on the skies. These are the days when the signs have become talking points, that will awaken people’s awareness, not just to our presence but our methods of contact with you. For many years we have made crop circles as one means of getting your attention. As you will have noticed in more recent times, they have become more sophisticated. The messages they send have been interpreted, and their symbolism correctly understood. They have carried energy with them, and even although everyone has not understood them, it has connected with them sub-consciously.’

If Carl Sagan were still with us, I think he might consider this form of transmission equally valid from an advanced stellar civilization. After all his criteria suggested that those who had survived a post-nuclear age without exterminating either themselves or their habitat would be in a better frame of consciousness to extend the vibration of ascension and assistance to help another up the ladder of evolution.

If you’re listening, Carl. We miss you. Happy Solstice.
