Solstitial Stillness : Prelude to Midsummer Madness?

Solstice, they say, should be a time of stillness. Ancient civilizations—however primitive our society views them—were aware of the sun’s influence on their lives and its ability apparently to ‘stand still’ twice each year, when it reaches its greatest distance from the celestial equator. Now, in the Enlightened Aquarian Age, we hold festival over winter to celebrate that time of change. What do we do in summer? Go on vacation? Study crop circles? Some continue to work right through this special time, not realizing our connection to its ancient traditions, rooted in the earth.

Party Time!
Some cultures continue to make offerings, like the Ayamara in Peru. English do Maypole dance, Cornish have their Green Man bonfires, Nevada its Burning Man Festival, August 26-September 2nd this year, and California its music. So perhaps the consciousness behind celebrating in the fields is not totally lost to urbanites, if we can drink in the stillness offered by nature and make an effort to incorporate calm communion with the Earth in our everyday lives.

Classical civilization certainly knew how to do that—and party. And if they didn’t have gods of their own to offer obeisance and reverence to, they imported others. Saturnalia was known throughout the Roman world as the epitome of winter revelry, debauchery, excess, as the only time the old rigid god Saturn let down his hair. Equally, in summertime, they pulled out all the stops, liberally borrowing gods and goddesses from other cultures as themes suited.

Cybele, adopted as Mother-protectrix of Rome's 'city and fields' wore the Phrygian helmet-crown of warrior goddess

Cybele adopted as Mother-protectrix of Rome’s ‘city and fields’ wore the Phrygian helmet-crown of warrior goddess

Cybele, right, the original pre-classical (Bronze Age, c.8thC BC) Indo-European Earth Mother warrior goddess from Phrygia-Anatolia, Turkey—symbol of fertility, earth’s swelling summer cornucopia of growth and abundance—was converted for her ‘psychic powers’ to take a place in the Greek and Roman pantheon. The Sybil who issued prophetic knowledge, like the Delphic Oracle, was her Roman adaptation. She was guardian of Rome. Her Egyptian equivalent was revered as Earth Mother figure Hathor; but the later Greeks, succumbing to male-dominant cultural needs, altered her concept of ‘love’ to one embodied by Aphrodite—losing the earth connection.

The Earth Mother of prehistoric cultures—whose neolithic carved dolls date to pre-Ice Age Europe—survives in vestigial worship of Inca Pachamama in Bolivia, but had turned volte-face in the Aegean by the time of the Trojan wars, when male physical prowess and warlike behavior on all fronts were supreme in Greek eyes. It is curious to note that hero of the Trojan wars, Paris, embodying male physical beauty, pure in mind, focused in war and manly pursuits like discus and javelin dexterity, was an imported ‘alien'(suppressed culture) superhero who wore the prehistoric Phrygian helmet (like Cybele), denoting his more ancient origins. The Roman army dedicated its legions’ souls to the care of Mithras—another import from Phrygia, complete with godly war-helmet.

Where the primeval mother-warrior had battled time and the elements for the good of the Earth, bringing fruits in season, male culture—in taking over the role of earth-caretaker—may have gone a little overboard on the warrior front.

In astrological circles this solstitial time is seen as one of huge change—in context of life, personal vision, and clearing away old debris, solstitial chart by Astrotheme, left.

Astronomically, NASA/NOAA’s solstitial prediction for ‘few’ aurorae over the midsummer period, includes a mention by the space agency of meteor showers, Eta Delphinids, M-class solar flares ongoing, with resulting storms hitting earth through June and July. Earth’s magnetosphere activity is listed as ‘unsettled’ during this period, see changes sidebar right. We are, after all, midway through solar maximum, 2013.

Somewhere between the two star camps there appears in the northern sky one of our least-known yet most massive constellations, only visible in summer: Ophiuchus. Both astro sides agree: this giant (dim) group of stars stretching from the head of Scorpio across Libra and Virgo, to touch the (upside-down) head of Hercules at zenith, brings into the summer sky images—and concepts from the ancient mind—most appropriate to this silly season. Because of the cosmic quirk of precession of the equinoxes—earth’s ‘wobble’ on its axis bringing it successively through each of the zodiac signs, backwards—we in the Aquarian Age in Earth’s subtropical, tropical and temperate zones are seeing—many for the first time—two gigantic constellations which were familiar to the Ancients, who anthropomorphized them as expressions of their own conflicting ideals.

backwards thru Zodiac~~ Aquarius: water-bearer, far-sighted visionary, troubled by burdens—symbol of the Age
Capricorn: seagoat, god of cardinal order, old (outworn? Saturnian) mechanisms, consistently appears at midsummer full moon to put cat among pigeons…
Sagittarius: archer, ruled by Jupiter: Jovian happy-spirited lover of nature, trying to hold balance between the above and…
Scorpio: scorpion, fixed water=ice symbolic of birth, death and rebirth, transfiguration; overcoming impediments, its sting-in-tail never allows others to relax

enter~~ Ophiuchus, serpent bearer holding both ends of constellation Serpens in his hands: Serpens Cauda, tail in his right; Serpens Caput, head in his left.

Constellation Ophiuchus, Flamsteed Celestial Atlas, 1776

Constellation Ophiuchus, Flamsteed Celestial Atlas, 1776

Ophiuchus: Ὀφιοῦχος “Serpent-bearer”, serpent-wielding handler of snakes, transitioned from his ancient image of enlightened Man wrestling-with-conscience through medieval image of unbridled male sexual power, to Georgian image of protective fatherly person-of-age and wisdom and healing, to Victorian preoccupation with—mostly male—medical profession—caduceus, or *thyrsus a symbol of healing derived from a rod (bamboo, fennel, or the male member) wrapped in a vine, ivy or flower garlands.

Unusually, both ‘scientific’ and ‘psychic’ astros agree, constellation Ophiuchus will dominate the July 2013 sky, rising higher than it has in the last two thousand years. Some extreme astrologers have suggested rearranging the traditional/tropical zodiac, to make room for another constellation (because his feet actually stand on the ecliptic, between Scorpio and Sagittarius). Current western astrology, however, is a convention developed from zodiac signs visible in Roman/Greek skies, using attributes associated with cultural gods/seasons/beliefs of that time, and these which would lose meaning if arbitrarily rearranged.

As Ophiuchus makes its first appearance since the “EndTimes of 2012″—brighter and more dominant than at any time in human memory—there may be another message for us in its new guise.

Greco-Roman god Priapus, rescued fresco from Pompeii c.AD79, Archaeological Museum of Naples

Greco-Roman god Priapus, rescued fresco from Pompeii c.AD79, Archaeological Museum of Naples

PRIAPOS was the rustic god of the Ancient world, responsible through his unbridled fertility for the bounty of the vegetable garden. Later stylized as a dwarfish entity with a huge penis, which symbolized garden fertility, originally his head was crowned with a peaked Phrygian cap, belying his origin as a god, native to the Hellespont, ancient Phrygia. His cult was introduced into Greece and Italy, where his mythology was reinterpreted in Greek terms. Greeks naturally named him a son of one of their phallic gods: either Hermes/Mercury or, more often Dionysos. His mother was Aphrodite. They were accompanied by satyrs Orthanes and Tykhon.

Priapos/Priapus was honored by Greeks, Romans, Mysians, Hittites, Egyptians (their Apis, bull of fertility) as protector of sheep, goats, bees, the vine and of all garden produce. In formative cultures, the phallus was the ancient emblem of creation. It represented gods Bacchus, Priapus, Hermaphroditus, Hercules, Shiva, Osiris, Baal and Asher, who were all Phallic deities. Roman Priapus, a stylized symbol of Rome’s mastery of the then world, had odes written to him and poems pinned on patio phalluses in gardens of aristocratic ladies who wished to keep their arboreal spirits potent.

The most famous extant depiction of Priapus is the Pompeiian fresco, above. He is crowned with peaked Phrygian cap, shown weighing his enormous member on a set of scales against the produce of the fields. He wears Phrygian war-boots, and has a Bacchic, cone-tipped thyrsus* resting by his side.

Burning Man annual late summer festival in Black Rock Nevada desert

In festive summer frolics, Priapus was depicted accompanied by garden nymphs, dyads and maenads, each waving a flower-wreathed *thyrsus—a wand made from fennel or bamboo, with a pierced pine-cone at its tip, which nymphs used as mini-phalluses to poke at the unitiated or to ward off satyrs and unwanted suitors.

In Celtic mythology he is the god of spring, Greenman, vestigial Druid prince-king-god who invoked fertility for his land through dance in sacred groves where tree and nature-spirits dwell.

Primitive statues of the god were traditionally set up in vegetable plots to promote fertility, with the added benefit of functioning as a type of scarecrow for scaring away birds. But when garden gnomes became a late 19thC fashion, their priapic member was eliminated in the mass-produced version, as Victorian sensibilities dictated that such garden gnomes NOT display their ‘private parts’, in case ladies in passing carriages should succumb to the ‘vapors’ and require medical assistance.

Priapic Preoccupation in Crop Circles
Victorian humor aside, Priapos was genuinely revered as patron of the garden, guardian of growth for all crops, and it is a relief to see this multi-faceted countryside god showing his (at least symbolic) head above ground—as a sign of bounty to come?—in the first two-phase crop circle appearance at Stanton St Bernard, Wiltshire, June 21st.

Solstitial crop circles have traditionally sent some of the clearest messages as the theme of a season; it is tempting to believe that the paucity of designs in Wiltshire—twelve during June; British total for season—is one of those. Meanwhile, crop circle anticipation remains high: manfully upheld by the Italian contingent, as the fields of Rome, Tuscany and northern Italy have had a relatively ‘normal’ growing season—that in itself may suggest we show a little deference to our classical heritage.

So it is riveting to see that the season’s first ‘complex’ symbol should appear right on schedule—over solstice—in the Wiltshire ‘hub‘, in the same fields which created all the uproar last year, see Siderealview archives.

*Seen as a thyrsus, (typically, English has no translation for a wand wreathed in flowers sporting a bristle like a dildo), its pinecone-like business end pointed straight at Milk Hill—representative of ancient Earth Mother-milk-and-honey-bounty—the first meaningful crop circle of the season may once more be pulling at us with multiple strands. Targeting the Mother hill (the highest in Wiltshire) goes partway to awakening dormant English respect for ancient ways. By incorporating the dildo-pinecone in a sword- (or thyrsus-like) javelin cut straight through the barley and aimed at Milk Hill’s symbol of male strength—the horse riding the Mother—this crop design rekindles memories of pineal gland/third eye crop formations of summer 2011.

Messages then were that we/’Society’ release our male left-brain stranglehold on our fragile 21stC world, allow the female intuitive right-brain heart-centered side to come out of dormancy and express more freely. And that the pleasure zone: endorphins, melatonin and the pineal gland, function together as a means to synthesize and synchronize this new awareness in us humans by connecting our mind-body-spirit back to our terrestrial home.

Now, in post-Omega-Point reflection through a slow growing season, we are reminded to temper our left hemisphere destruction of habitat, and instead to devote time to more reverent and respectful treatment of our earthly environment.

To add to this summer madness, Ophiuchus rises to full stature in the northern July night, unseen until now in such grandeur by 21stC eyes. He stands diametrically opposite Orion, filling the southern arc of the night sky, his feet astride the ecliptic, between Sagittarius and Scorpio, his head grazed by the upside-down head of Hercules at zenith. Grasping with both hands he wields the Serpent: Serpens Caput in his left; Serpens Cauda in his right, the dual twisting constellation locked between his outstretched legs, as if caught in flagrante delicto, not a god, but a man wrestling his (inner and) outer demons.

Summer’s greatest blessing is that we northerners can relax, feel warm, surrounded by earth’s cornucopia of beauty, vegetative growth at its height—lulled into enjoying the brief season without thought to winter, responsibility, cold… the grasshopper and ant scenario. Or, with American Independence Day July 4th just around the corner, could consciousness of the ‘Silly Season’ already be taking hold? Celebrate now for tomorrow we die?

Solar-Serpent bonding: Earth’s Love Affair with the Light

August 22, 2012

Let the Voyage begin——

Ephemeral apparition: head of serpent/dragon lady in the wheat at Picked Hill, Woodborough near Alton Barnes, August 20th, 2012; sadly harvested within the hour,

Amid wild celebrations last week for the Mars Curiosity-Rover project, only a small cheer went up in the world of sky-watchers, astronomers and space-fans, to mark on August 20th the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Voyager launches.

What is more significant—but less broadcast—is the fact that Voyager-2 (launched August 20th, 1977) and Voyager-1, (two weeks later on September 5th, 1977)—now at 9.3 billion and 11 billion miles/18 billion kilometers respectively from the sun—are encountering their first brush with a new horizon: the ‘heliopause’~~~ entry into the intersteller void.

Since 2005 Voyager-1 has been exploring the outer layer of the bubble of charged particles which the sun blows around itself: its heliosphere, a cocoon of electromagnetism which buffers it and us, its planetary children, from the bombardment of cosmic rays from interstellar regions.

Suddenly our envoys—the Voyager twins—enter a whole new dimension: heliopause, between solar system and hyperspace

At interstellar interface, NASA expected a trio of changes:
1. strength of solar particle bubble or ‘mist’ to weaken, as the edge of the field, the heliosheath, was reached;
2. increased interaction with the interstellar field and consequent bombardment of cosmic rays;
3. polarity shift of the cosmic magnetic field in relation to the solar magnetic field.

Then last month, in one day—July 28th—as if fulfilling their dreams, data from Voyager-1′s cosmic ray instrument panel showed the level of high-energy cosmic rays originating from outside our solar system had jumped dramatically—by five percent. During the last half of that same day, the level of lower-energy particles originating from inside the solar system had correspondingly dropped—by half. NASA Astrophysicists seemed confident to announce that Voyager-1 has crossed into interstellar space.

Angels and Dragons*
Meanwhile back on Earth, despite continuing adverse weather conditions persisting since July, the croppie community in Wiltshire were holding their breath, waiting for the 2012 season ‘finale’ when, invariably in the past, August makes its last summer statement amid the ‘waves of grain’.

Stanton St Bernard (3 phases); dripping with sundog terminals, light-enhanced sacred temple towers lead to angelic orbs with a fairytale fanstasy feel

In contrast to the glorious summer of 2011, when crop circles seemed blessed by farmers willing to tolerate both their impromptu appearance and the visitors they generated, 2012 circle designs have had a hard time. Long gaps—days of rain with no crop circles—frustrated CC-watchers. The weather is not all to blame. For reasons known only to some farmers themselves, 2012 crop imprints have suffered heavy losses from immediate cutting; but because the CC fraternity—so forgiving, so believing—are backed up by such a strong and dedicated team of hang-gliding, microlite and fixed-wing pilots and photographers, not a single image has been “lost”. The designs may no longer fill a space in the fields, but their images linger in cyberspace for continued enjoyment, meditation, discussion, and analysis—of which there has been plenty.

So those few rare events which survived, especially those like Stanton St.Bernard, above, which attracted successive phases, have been like manna from heaven.

Earlier in 2012…

Avebury’s dramatic neolithic double-ramparts provide an arena to view the August 1st triple serpents, in a field bounded on the E by sacred Green Path/ancient Ridgeway

For those who are only now discovering the depth of the croppie belief system, it may help to know that various pet theories perpetuate among long-term students of the phenomenon, particularly in 2012: among them that they display—
—Calendar system(s) of the Maya; where rendezvous with Galactic Center between winter solstice December 21st, 2012 and January 5th, 2013 marks the end of one five-thousand-year cycle and the beginning of another;

—In several native American traditions, 2012 foretold as the time of ‘Return of the Ancestors’; also interpreted as the time when the people of the Earth will see the light and return together to ‘ancestral ways’ of nurture, respect for and—in many cases—worship of sacred places;
—Return of Aztec god Quetzalcoatl—Kukulkan of the Maya—heralded by complex ‘signs in the heavens’, including Venus transit, solar fireworks and striking planetary conjunctions;
—Fulfilment of Biblical prophecies, some based on even earlier Sumerian, Arab or Egyptian myth;
—Heavenly antics, comets, auroral and spectral phenomena and including star and planet alignments not seen for 26,000 years, or one backward cycle of the solar system through all twelve signs of the zodiac on the celestial ecliptic: the precession of the equinoxes.

Voyager and the Voyage

2012 Finale: Woodborough/Picked Hill August 20—earlier designs all rolled into one—feathered serpent head, starlight twinkling terminals, world faith symbols & power of coiled dragon energy dance within an orb—who could ask for more?

It may be wishful thinking to see Voyager’s capsule of electromagnetic plasma in this August 20th —anniversary— crop circle, left; and there are certainly other intriguing similarities in it to explore: it has a recognizable ‘signature’—light-enhanced terminals, feathered-serpent curving orb-filled body—which over this season has made repeat appearances, like a familiar artist illustrating a beloved fairy tale, bringing together individual jigsaw pieces from his house of cards, his rainbow palette, each successive glyph a mirror or a fragment of the one before: to make one cohesive whole. At the same time the Woodborough/Picked Hill creation strikes a chord on a subliminal level, making the subconscious conscious; activating elements within us we barely understand ourselves.

Among the first to arrive, and last to leave, dragon tadpoles (Woodborough, June 9th) offspring of the Woodborough Hill finale, August 20th, have survived intact until harvest this week.

Encapsulated in its multi-liminal design, above, are elements suggested in the earlier motifs (players on June and July’s bucolic stage are described in my July 11th blog); some see this season’s multiple appearances as Earth Energy, Dragon Force, others as the influence of the famed St Michael (ley) line, or fluctuating electromagnetic waves, posing as pictures in already ripe barley and wheatfields.

So, when the apparent finale appeared Monday morning August 20th—harvested within hours by an irate farmer convinced that his field had been vandalized by board-and-string ‘hoaxers’—believers were doubly grateful for the presence-of-mind of at least two microlite/aircraft photographers who were able to capture aerial images for the croppie audience.

From heart chakra to crown via a silver thread to the Soul: kundalini in crop circles

Picked Hill is a marvel of symbolism:

incorporating in electromagnetic shorthand, visual reminders of half a dozen of the season’s most provocative designs, while simultaneously triggering subliminal stimulus in the human observer. It encompasses the oval (‘alien’) head of Hinton Parva, July 25th, mirrored in both Picked Hill-1 ‘nest’ (July 9th, harvested) and Avebury’s triple serpents, August 1st, below, whose own sundog sparkles point SE, indicating the direction of the serpents’ final resting place. In addition, as the observer is led out from the central ‘brain cortex’ of the oval head, it can be visualized as the crown chakra, seen from above (implication: a higher dimensional view) which appears to connect via a slim sparkling sliver—kundalini’s silver umbilical cord of light—to the soul;

Etchilhampton July 28th, piercing the heliosheath, V-ger enters hyperspace; or the crescent/decrescent cycles of Venus and Moon? various interpretations abound

the central crescent whose elaborate shadow featured in the Etchilhampton ornate double crescent crop circle of July 28th, below right, is like a decorative pinnacle on a sacred mosque, looking east; but the same Woodborough crown chakra, when skewed horizontally, transforms into an all-seeing eye [eye of Horus, humankind’s pineal gland, inner third eye]; and the feathered headdress associated with Kukulcan, feathered serpent Sun-god of the Maya—another allusion to the mingling of sunlight with dragon energy in the earth; the whole formation is surrounded by the same psychedelic sparkling terminals seen in the fairytale Vimana-angel-sundog formation of Stanton St.Bernard pictured above [phase 1 June 29th, phase 2 July 17th, phase 3 July 20th], completed exactly one month ago.

Woodborough, viewed sideways, displays the all-seeing eye, the crescent forming a glint of light within the iris

Curiously, its feathers cresting the familiar sharp-egg shape—oval—are unevenly spaced and numbered, their axis and that of the central sickle-Muslim crescent aligned a little to the east of south, which has inspired some to calculate ‘moons’ until December solstice this year. We may not all be left-hemisphere calculators with determination to master complex number systems, but spatially, there are other pointers in the formation. As apex of a triangle no more than half a mile across, its imaginary SE arm points to July 9th ‘nesting serpent’ (obliterated), while a half mile to SW, the triangle’s other arm alights on the energy serpent/tadpole babies spawned June 9th on the other side of Picked Hill—miraculously still intact. This is where the solar-serpent love affair has come to rest. In spite of having her first nest trashed, she chose Picked Hill to return and try again.

New Horizons

‘Central sun’ motif at the centerpoint of the Milk Hill design, August 5th. iPhone GPS, cellphones and compasses were reported to malfunction; superb poleshot, Stuart Dike

At a most basic level, magnetic fields are produced only by electricity; and the powerful limestone aquifer of Wiltshire, in particular around Woodborough, Alton Barnes, Milk Hill and Avebury, invariably attracts and produces conditions conducive to the generation of that energy. So, with new eyes, we may wish to observe Earth within the context of our Universe as electrically charged, electrically based and electrically-operated. Fluctuating solar flares and increasing sunspot activity only encourage the love affair perpetuated from the dawn of time between our star and our Earth Mother. It needs only a tiny stretch of the imagination to feel the deep resonance between such a powerful star and its watery planet offspring. Each year as solar energy beats down (sometimes mercilessly) on the Pale Blue Dot we call home, we revel in summer, anticipate another crop circle season, and enjoy the timeless beauty of light, on which we all depend. August is a month of bountiful plenty; of forgetfulness of what winter resurrects when our star deserts us to shine on the opposite hemisphere.

Miraculously, a power greater than we can imagine ordains that even after the severest of winters, our star—forever entwined in its loving embrace with our serpent/Earth mother—will see us through and the light will return.

The journey of 2012 may seem little different from, say, 2011, 2010, but we don’t all have to be empaths to figure that something fundamental has changed. It’s not just that Voyager has reached the outer edge of our system of knowledge, and the journey onward from here into the unknown is one we all now must share responsibly, no longer take for granted.

Our ancestors—from diverse cultures and traditions—all shared earth wisdom as part of understanding life’s cycles. The crop circle theme of 2012, if one single theme is identifiable, may be just that: we are passengers in a starship driving rudderless through the void; and while the engine powering our voyage towards Galactic Center at midwinter clearly adores our Mother-Serpent-Earth, it is a carefree lover, with eight other planets in tow, careening headlong towards the Dark Rift in the Milky Way, with the same abandon displayed by the Voyager interstellar probes who even now are entering their own new region of space. We, human operators of the Earth ship have a responsibility as caretakers and it is time to take care of our home. We are made up of stardust, “billion year-old carbon”, and we…

Jumping Dimensions: Crop Circle PHI-losophy 101

August 22, 2010

PHI, the Golden Mean seen as the Divine fractal or self-generating spiral of beauty

Since there no longer exist in this four-dimensional structure [space-time] any sections which represent ‘now’ objectively, the concepts of happening and becoming are not completely suspended, but complicated. It appears, therefore, more natural to think of physical reality as a four-dimensional existence, rather than, as hitherto, the evolution of a three dimensional one.
Albert Einstein

We think we understand dimensions. One – two – three, the above quote notwithstanding, we know our world: a pencil drawing, line on paper, are one and two. The paper itself makes it three and we’re drawing it NOW in this moment, so that makes it four. Four — the dimension of time, Einstein’s E=mc2— is where our everyday understanding of physics of our real world brings us in line with today’s brightest minds. Beyond that, our braincells need a little boost, an injection of fantasy, imagination, a mental grasshopper leap. That’s where we’re fortunate, because we’re getting a ‘little help from our friends’.

A little honey at Honey Street: PHI fractal crop circle of 08/08 at Stanton Bridge, Wiltshire

When the crop circle community stood poised, balancing on ballet points for what might materialize from those higher dimensions on the eight-gate, 8/8, our friends in high places sent us four! One at Spilsby Lincolnshire, a magnificent 500-footer at Pewsey White Horse, and a little honey, a miniscule delight in the form of a fractal at Honey Street, Wiltshire.

Large yin-yang solar flare August 7th sent CME to earth, photo Wouter Verhesen

The miniature (150-foot diameter) Honey Street design seemed like another warning that the sun was playing up — its fractal lying in yin-yang position did look remarkably like a solar flare which sent a coronal mass ejection (CME) earthwards the previous day, (SpaceWeather). But, for good measure, in case we didn’t get the message, a second mini-circle appeared simultaneously at Stanton St Bernard #2 which looks remarkably like a flaring sun, complete with solar prominence burst. Meanwhile, the irate farm manager at Pewsey White Horse, having warned visitors previously in the season that ‘trespassing’ would be dealt with severely, cut the massive formation out by noon the same day (YouTube video below). But the honey at Honey Street (Stanton St. Bernard #1) remains; is gorgeous, and while expressing multiple ideas, is a delightful feast for the eye. Brain food? Nothing too taxing (unlike the M4 coded images, further below); just a whimsical fairytale fractal (couched in CME format with wave-bending crescent) in a golden harvest field.

While over the previous fortnight earth’s deepest thinkers were pondering math ratios, alien language code and making themselves sick thinking life had sent them lemons, the Universe made us lemonade!

I feel compassion for some of the serious ponderers in Croppiedom. This season has not been easy for them. 2010 not only manifested mysticism, mathematics and dimensional momentum; it brought masses of ‘plankers‘ out of the woodwork. In conjunction with and as substitutes for what they like to call ‘anomalous’ crop circles (those formed in intense heat with ultrasound and cereal nodes bent by light, leaving vestiges of ‘angel hair’ — a pure silicon-hydrogen hallmark of UFOs aka white powder gold), the summer fields have been invaded by human designers, albeit talented, but mixing up the metaphor for us naïve believers in Ascension as a theme and confusing visitors flocking to the fields to find nirvana.

It may be this confusion which affected the Pewsey farm manager. It’s understandable: if he thinks — to quote my funny friend Fitzy — that ‘last night 100 students, studying macrame, snuck into a field and wove …leaving no evidence of their presence…’ and that they were just messing up his life for kicks, or for an art project, it’s not difficult to see why he accosted visitors and sent threatening messages, describing the work as ‘vandalism‘.

Silicon-hydrogen compound 'angel hair' found in light-created crop circles

But if he were to see his cut crop as light-enhanced, with added silicon nutrients incorporated in the grain which have health-giving properties, growth-rate boosts (and might fetch more on the market), then he might change his tune. But that supposition for another year, now. The formation has been cut.

'Anomalous' formation on top of Whitefield Hill, Woodsend, Wiltshire August 3rd showed vestiges of 'angel hair'

Not before it was thoroughly documented, though, with superb aerial photography by Matthew Williams and Pierre Beake, and while only a few pedesterians got a close-up of this 500-foot spectacle, its dimensions and message will be studied in depth long after its vestigial imprint has gone. It’s interesting to speculate that its purity of design and impact on spectators may indicate that it, too, was an ‘anomalous’ creation similar to the ‘egg-slicer’ formation of August 3rd on top of Whitefield Hill, Woodsend next to the radio transmitter. Whitefield showed evidence of light-induced elongated stalk nodes on atypical straight stems in the flattened crop, along with a residue of angel hair or ‘white powder gold’. For more detail on this silicon-hydrogen compound and its qualities, see the p.p.s on my last blog.

Gerald Hawkins, great decoder of Stonehenge and subsequent devoté of sacred geometry and diatonic musical ratios (Egyptian ‘frozen music’), wrote before he died in 2003:

If crop circles are made by hoaxers, then they should stop doing it, because they are breaking the law and damaging the food supply. If they are made by UFO aliens, they shouldn’t give us the dates of our trips to Mars and names of men from the Titanic era – famous, clever, but now forgotten. If some are transcendental, the power behind it should realize that our culture is now willing to accept transcendental happenings. If they are indeed transcendental, then society will have to make a big adjustment in the years ahead.

Through a language that’s possible for most of us to understand the crop circles, with apparent ease, carry trains of thought over thousands of years that are both transformative and liberating. The Egyptian/Sumerian priesthood did it — spared no effort in using every available surface to proclaim the existence of another dimension (their ‘after’- or future- life), so the people might understand. Now, millennia later, we so-called evolved mortals are being given similar instruction — a picture language with recurring specific symbols — from our ‘priesthood of light’, our own consciousness from a higher dimension. It is no coincidence that the Horton Friday-the-13th finale of the 2010 Wiltshire season has blatant Egyptian symbolism.

We are being shown a series of objects which exist in a higher dimension, so that our vision and perception may become clearer. Each summer, via an ephemeral canvas of wheat, barley and maize, we’re being taught telepathically: and each year-end we’ve learned more than we knew before. Light orbs (clearly from a dimension we haven’t yet got the hang of) are now so frequently witnessed, documented, and (almost) accepted as a tool of the Circlemakers, that we are having to concede our prosaic 3/4-dimensional world is a little out of date. The sensation of bliss experienced by many within light-orb-inscribed formations is not imaginary. Human bonding, spontaneous group meditations and effortless harmony with others seem to occur naturally within these creations. The Circlemakers are professors not only of beauty and precision, but sacred geometry, history, mathematics, arcane tradition and philosophy, spiritual discipline, bliss and joy!

Dan Winter, author of Phi Physics in a Nutshell, says

DNA is the seed crystal of the higher dimensional Lightbody
DNA, a perfect Phi-structured crystal connecting long waves and short waves, is a three-dimensional pattern designed to transmit information, in the form of a living being, through time and space, the fourth dimension. Its goal seems to be to create a fifth-dimensional intelligence, one capable of phase-locking with the information of the Universe stored in its crystaline coding within its DNA geometry.

Geometry is the basic creation of symmetry, says Winter. This is where the Phi-wave or the perfect spiral, Golden Mean fractal, Nature’s perfect natural growth pattern, comes in. ‘Any symmetrical structure creates a place where meeting waves, those traveling in opposite directions, can stand, that is, can phase and phase-lock.’ Standing waves give the illusion of solidity, which is the ‘segregation of momentum that makes possible the birth of matter.’

He explains why the Golden Mean spiral is Nature’s ideal ‘nest’ for converging waves:

‘In the world of waves, only the donut, (the torus or vortex), and the golden mean spiral can become coherent — hold their shape — like a smoke ring. As more of these smoke rings are created and they want to relate to the first smoke ring, they must ‘nest’ in the right pattern so that they can remember their form and still share structure. The best pathway for doing this is the ratio we call the golden mean. Only in this shape can waves nest together without interfering with each other and cancelling out their memories.’

A Phi spiral can nest triangles, squares and five-sided figures (pentagons), creating a dodecahedron as it goes. The dodecahedron (12-sided shape) is the perfect Golden Mean nest for turning information/waves into coherent structure. ‘That’s why it’s also the pattern of the braided DNA molecule,’ Winter concludes.

Julia Set fractal at Stonehenge July 1996, beloved of mathematicians, marine biologists and musicians

So our DNA, constantly evolving and upgrading through an enhancing light spectrum — with the help of sunlight and electromagnetic energy from the higher dimension — is lifting our four-dimensional world bodily towards the fifth: dimension of our lightbody.

Countless crop circles over the years have depicted the fractal. Perhaps most famous of all was the ‘Julia Set’ Stonehenge formation of July 7, 1996 whose pristine curve appeared in broad daylight at teatime after torrential rain the previous night. Its ‘comforting’ shape to mathematicians represents a complex computer-generated fractal image; to musicians the bass clef, and to marine biologists the cross-section of a nautilus shell.

E = mc2
Matter is just a lot of energy moving so slowly that we can touch it and sit on it. Energy is just a little bit of matter moving so fast we have trouble finding it: simply put, they’re polarities of the same substance, which is flowing and moving at different rates constantly through the Universe.

But there’s an even bigger idea for this 101 dissertation in our Dimensional PHI-losophy class:

Perfect symmetrical geometric shapes contain, ‘nest’ or embody energy. So, by focusing our ‘intent’, (heightened with love, desire, feeling, emotion, belief and will) we can make things happen — ‘create matter’. That’s why New Age philosophy, esoteric disciplines and native American ancestral wisdom describe us as the ‘Creator’.

Where attention goes energy flows‘.

There’s one aspect we still don’t quite understand, but it’s worth keeping all the balls in the air.

The connection to sound — ultrasound, music in any form as inspiration and its creative ability as a ‘wave-particle’ — cannot be overlooked. Gerald Hawkins was fascinated by the diatonic scale — another fractal, or ‘perfect’ progression of the familiar octave on the piano, bassoon, saxophone, guitar. Notably he and Paul Vigay corresponded on its unique function in crop circles before both died. They found not only that crop circle images converted into sound through special computer software produced meditation-inducing alpha waves; but that the reverse hypothesis was true — that ultrasound is a factor in producing images in the corn.

Solstitial Phi formula in Vale of Pewsey lies immediately below the Heart chakra - the (Sanskrit) wheel that directs life

Earlier this season we were gifted another stunning coded triangular motif in the Vale of Pewsey on Solstice, which turned out to be an ASCII rendition of 1.61803399, the golden ratio = ϕ Phi. It is clearly a formula close to ET’s heart! I still believe that it, like the coded canola musical box disc in the May 22nd Wilton formation, if played through Vigay’s software, would produce sound in the alpha range. We shall have to wait for Paul’s lightbody to arise and return.

Meanwhile a great deal of speculation surrounded the double appearance on either side of the M4 motorway at exit 14 to Hungerford on July 30th. Decoding the dual image has so far proved inconclusive, but when combined, the formations revealed a face overlaid on 16 lines or ‘strings’. Musicians, Lotus Ocean are overjoyed that their guitarist/avatar PT’s face appeared embedded in twin pixels flanking the M4, his daily route to play ritual music in crop circles. Their idea is not totally far-fetched. There are 16 petals in the divine lotus — a symbol of Ascension — and music, specifically ultrasound, has been found to produce waves of rapture in electromagnetic forms by Vigay, Hawkins and others (humans and wheatfields being similarly influenced by alpha waves). PT (Prashant Trivedi) is a string musician deeply entrenched in Vedic ritual and symbolism. Following his ritual AUM (OM) incantation within the ‘Druids cave’ near East Field, Alton Priors in 2007, the massive 2.25-acre OM crop circle of 7/7/7 appeared.

Sound is, after all, another form of energy in the electromagnetic stream that we all share in this amazing new world of heightened perception.

Are we willing to go for it: will we pass the exam, graduate from Dimensional PHI-losophy 101?

Our goal is fifth-dimensional awareness, a state already reached by many during meditation. It can be described as our ability to see all space and time, energy and matter, as components of one original wave form. This bliss state can, according to Winter, ‘bend light into a circle of self-awareness’. It creates a rich ultraviolet/blue explosion of energy that accompanies the Merkabah rise of Kundalini, Winter’s phase-lock of biological energies into the flow of the universal information energy stream. This enfolded love-state creates enlightenment, a state where the awareness of the universal mind meets itself at every wave junction.

The more we meditate, project from a state of love, feel gratitude, the closer we come to permanent nirvana.

Howzat for lateral thinking.

Crop Circles: Hitchhiker’s Guide in Sound and Light

Crop circle codes of light

Last weekend, as I joined in giving thanks for our earthly blessings, an autumnal appreciation of Crop Circles, themselves the epitome of high summer warmth and abundance, seemed right. If, like me, you are adjusting to the onset of winter, shortening days, dwindling light, you might be tempted to regret that, at the height of summer, we didn’t feel more appreciation for the phenomenon. Once more I allowed the beauty of their designs to imprint on my subconscious and, as many others have done, asked myself why here, why now? So this is my second blog at a time of entering into hibernation, because we occasionally need a double dose of joy to get us through hard times.

As a catalyst for change, their imprint on harvest field and human consciousness is gaining ground and their messages of joy, beauty, grace (as well as mathematics, geometry, astronomy, enough science to boggle the most ardent geek) have been hitting us squarely between the eyes: 10,000 messages in 29 countries in the last decade. Along with spiritual feelings generated in visitors within the circles themselves, those messages are having an impact on us, the human race: feelings appropriate to this particular season: like peace and goodwill to our fellow man. How clever of them to be able to combine both physical and spiritual. And to do it in such a miraculously short time.

Helicopter and microlite pilots have attested to crop circles appearing in the Wiltshire countryside in a 15-minute timespan between one flyover and the next. Overnight campers trying their best to stay awake to ‘catch them at it’ have either dozed off at the crucial moment or seen the tail end of a luminous glow disappear over the horizon, leaving a trail of beauty blazed in the corn.

Crop scientists agree, stalks of barley and wheat show effects of intense heat similar to microwave or laser energy which can make a stem node pop or a stalk bend and lie flat without breaking, all the while being manipulated into a stunning swirling pattern akin to weaving or cosmic basketry. Monitored examples so far have registered minute alterations in cellular structure, fluctuating background radiation and depletion of the local water table, but crops continue to grow to maturity and harvest with no negative impact. In fact recent research is beginning to believe a quick dose of light radiation and an altered energy field actually improve crop yield.

Known side-effects, seen by the scientific establishment as an increase in electromagnetic energy and altered soil chemisry, produce on-the-ground human biological emotions such as brotherly love, increased camaraderie, and an inclination to share with others; add to that the agricultural bonus of stronger wheat, more robust barley, increased yield, and the fact that these crops are increasingly being consumed by us in our bread, malt, beer and pastries, would it not follow that we too are being affected? To take the concept even farther; might we find through the gifts left in these complex manifested forms a way to feed the world’s starving masses?

In recent years the beauty of crop circle art, alone, has succeeded in affecting us as a collective. That in itself is remarkable. Through the immediacy of the internet and with huge advances in video technology, visitor numbers have escalated beyond local belief, air traffic and ‘sky tours’ have doubled and website ‘hits’ on the phenomenon number over one million.

There are few left unaware or untouched by them. People in all countries – even the most inured city-dweller – and followers on all continents, whether or not they have experienced them first hand, are writing and blogging about them. I for one have visited only one, but that’s the beauty of their effect: the photographic record has nearly as much impact on us as the creations themselves.

While some communications media continue to postulate their formation by humans, most of us who’ve been following their process of revelation are aware now that something else is going on.
They are making us look to the stars. Our place of origin, according to all major world religions, astrophysicists, philosophers, a multitude of alternate faiths, and a huge body of ancient knowledge.

Why, if not to guide our fumbling consciousness in a new direction, would we be given a steadily increasing stream of tantalizing coded information, created in seconds, coming from what appears to be the Realm of Light?

Sextant Crop Circle at Alton Barnes Phase I June 21, 2009

It’s not just a physical reaction; it’s emotional, psychic, spiritual and other-dimensional as well. We are being drawn out of our three-to-four dimensional planes and becoming familiar with concepts, taught by all the great spiritual doctrines, that there are several other realities than the one we see.
Suddenly our Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy becomes an open door to the Universe and is teaching us to think out of the box, to look beyond.

Take the Sextant Crop Circle for instance: After its preliminary formation on midsummer night 2009 in a field at Alton Barnes, Wiltshire, it took two successive nights to complete. And it brought reaction from three different schools of thought:

Coronal mass ejection predicted in 'jellyfish' crop circle

The Astronomical community suggested its initial phase mirrored the inner solar system, predicting (like the ‘jellyfish’ crop circle) a solar coronal mass ejection (CME) for a date three weeks in the future. Phase two appeared to give universal values and positions for the inner planets confirming that date and time; and phase three, although a trickier concept, as it appeared to be in ‘code’, a mixture of ASCII and hieroglyphs which were yet to be revealed!

The Mathematics community, including our dear-departed gurus Sagan and Hawkins (my last blog) are insistent that much crop circle symmetry and form resembles the perfection of number and the exquisite harmony of music:

‘As the expression of number in space, geometry is inextricably linked to music since the laws of the former govern the mathematical intervals that make up the notes in the western music scale – the diatonic ratios – hence the reason ancient Egyptians referred to geometry as frozen music.’

There is a physical connection, too, between matter and sound, as sound waves will create geometric patterns in sand, iron filings, any flexible medium. Navajo and Hopi traditions relate how shamans in ancient times would utter words on to sand to create sacred patterns. Music soothes the fevered mind; it coaxes plants into growth (Secret Life of Plants, Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird).

Sextant crop circle phase 2 appeared June 23 2009

Echoed in all the world’s faiths and traditions is the concept that Universal matter was created by sound: Hindu Mandalas are created in the vibration of God; Islam expresses God as a sacred geometric image; in the Christian tradition, medieval geometry produced miraculous structures like the Gothic cathedral whose hallowed arches resonated with song and chant. And

‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God St. John

Phase 3 Sextant crop circle Alton Barnes June 30, 2009 with coded tail

The third response is from an individual, but is, I believe, the most revealing of the three: Judy Beebe has been a medical scientist for 35 years, and on her spiritual path since she was nine years old. Through a series of life-changing experiences, some of them OBEs, she has created what she calls a Language of Light, which she itemizes and demonstrates lucidly to be a Univesal code which is embedded in the crop circles.

She fervently believes Mankind has reached a point where we are now listening:
– to our own ‘Spirit within’,
– to messages sent from our Universal Matrix to remind us of our sacred potential, and
– to our own forgotten memories of who we were before we incarnated on this planet. She is convinced that water carries the matrix of our future.

Her information is carefully and lovingly documented and her website is a work of art in itself. She also – like the crop scientists measuring growth rates and changing cell structure – thinks we are being directed towards new simpler technologies which we have only to use our God-given intelligence to figure out and implement. In her view, the 2008 Crop Circle season was about ‘energy’; the 2009 season about ‘water’. Man’s way forward is to develop our next source of energy from the water molecule: what she calls Omega Cell or GEM energy.

Judy Beebe's concept of phase 3 Alton Barnes 'sextant' crop circle with tail

For her, the ‘Sextant’ crop circle phase one clearly gives the GEM energy formula, along with instruction in how to activate the energy matrix which we need as a species to develop our ‘understanding heart’ and to ascend in consciousness. Phase two shows the matrix opened up and the activation of ‘watery fire’ or power from the constituent elements of water – oxygen and hydrogen. Phase three shows energy at our fingertips to power the world; she says energy from water is our destiny. To her, the phase three tail of code, like the swallow crop circle with coded tail which appeared the same week at Stanton St. Bernard (June 27, 2009) is a flow of rippling water energy.

Her work has matured over several years and her evidence is clear and beguiling. It is a masterpiece, with directions to reach the Master Key, and well worth taking time to study.

Gradually, as we work our chilly way moment by moment towards winter solstice, the time of earthly endings and solar standstill, we are being shown miracles in nature along with human ideas which have sparked from them. In contemplating designs devised by laser consciousness, we are also being given a razor-sharp view of an alternate reality. I believe we are being drawn closer to our destiny, and. like the return of the light after solstice, our new beginnings are around the corner.
