MONTHLY CAMPFIRE CHAT CORNER FOR INSECURE WRITERS, FELLOW BLOG GODS & GODDESSES

Emerging from what feels like a deep dark cloud of a year—2020—into the light of a new one which has potential to wake us all up and catapult us right out of bed, it is tempting to blanket all of the bad with the old, and look to the new year to solve all our problems.

But it’s a little more complicated than that.

If I’m honest, solitary confinement aka lockdown aka quarantine aka Tier 4 [for Brits], has had a remarkable effect on my writing regimen. Many blog authors and fiction wannabes will agree, we need a writing routine to help get ourselves organized, or we’d never produce a single word—bless our Muses, may it never happen.

Angelic Potpourri of Offerings from the Stars & Social Media as Humanity Wakes up to Responsibility

Creative people have found time in isolation rewarding in unexpected ways: more self-time allows honest re-assessment of our capacity for change, our output—both volume and quality—and enjoyment of what we do. With no distractions to interrupt our daily entry to the Writer’s Cave—painting boudoir, or garden plot [unless it becomes a criminal act to do so]—new books get written, music composed and broadcast, gardens and parks flourish. Nature likes to show off her growth.

Having nobody else to talk to, or hug daily—some elderly have had no phone connection or physical touch for months—has an effect of allowing us to spiral inward to where our Muse usually sits at her own computah waiting for us to ask! That isolation opens inner doors to our mind—and its myriad compartments—usually unheard in the (former) hurly burly of day-to-day existence—what we used to call the Nine-to-Five.

The new Nine-to-Five might be called more appropriately the Dawn-to-Dusk, or Sleep-no-More. Reaction to having only oneself in charge of one’s day—plus social media— has made superstars out of teenagers and octogenarians alike.

Drive-thru Virtual Graduation for U.S. Students, Remote Viewing A-levels in Britain

A virtual world for Education premiered in British A-level exam results, and U.S. Virtual Graduation ceremonies, with drive-in access to ‘graduates’ on a giant public screen, and cars suitably six feet apart. Zoom and Facetime no longer domain of teenagers, hosts home vids from newbies thru to experts. Tweets and Instagram posts get a million followers, 12-year olds become ‘social media influencers.’ Even the Mother Road, beloved of Kerouac and the Beat Gen, has shown (very cool, hip) example by maintaining nightly shows at its Route 66 Drive-In Movie theater in Jaspar, MO, with Miami Dolphins converting their stadium for film shows and Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Drive-Ins operating in many states.

Our entertainment antennae are being tweaked. We lap up visual, virtual televised or electronically-generated media like babes to the bottle. Royal audiences have become a television moment of a tap on the virtual shoulder by a non-corporeal monarch with a (light saber) sword.

Angelic Intervention and Messages from the Stars

Our senses have become heightened by this aloneness. Plus an automatic human response to being caged—escape—to get out into Nature and do more walking, planting, appreciating. World movements have appeared, to plant rescue forests, create community veg and fruit gardens, rewilding abandoned plots and city parks. Cairngorms National Park, largest park in Britain, has committed to revitalising biodiversity and to restoring (near-extinct) Caledonian Pine Forest (rewilding and exclosure plantings) and to Scotland’s looted and damaged peat bogs. Some highland estates have initiated a reduced seasonal game shoot, with fewer acres of heather burn (cover for the grouse), allowing local wildlife to return in natural numbers.

Messages from aloft include December highlight Saturn/Jupiter Great Conjunction, when every planet and asteroid that we know of—plus a few we didn’t imagine—came into alignment in a small quadrant of our (Earth-view) sky, over winter Solstice. While the two giants are separating now, they continue to dominate January skies. Astrologers predict cataclysmic change. Seismic scientists believe this alignment of planetary bodies produces earth-directed energy, similar to the effect of a sunspot maximum when the solar face aims directly at earth: it produces increased volcanic eruption and earthquake movement.

Something like that is happening now—which started on Solstice—in the Halema’uma’u Caldera, a collapsed crater atop Hawai’i’s Kilauea volcano, 4,000ft. Quiet for three decades, goddess Pele chose earth’s shortest day to reawaken a two-year old collapsed shield volcano that had filled with water (60ft deep). Blasting through rock, old petrified magma, and evaporating the water lake in process, Halema’uma’u (and Pele) created a lava lake that is currently changing the local landscape. Watch this space.

Writerly Conclusions—When Life Brings you Lemons, er, Lava—make Lava-ade?

Meanwhile an Epiphany in the (smokey but breathable) writers’ cave, wassup, Doc? Is a new year resolution to keep on keeping on when all around are losing theirs, still valid if the ground we walk on is shifting beneath our feet? In our newfound zeal for restoring the wild, reducing CO2, becoming more in tune with Mother Nature, do we turn the clock back aka horse-drawn-plough? or forward aka book a seat on Space-X?

Roman ingenuity would have known. Ancient advice to the fallen, the wounded, the lost—and the found? Get back on the horse.

Winter Ends with New Year Beginnings

December 21, 2018

WINTER ENDS with NEW BEGINNINGS
Emerging from the Longest Night into a New Year

It is Solstice—the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This year—2018—it is also the night of the Full Moon—a cosmic coincidence which will not happen again until 2094.

Hogmanay now a World-Scots Celebration

Traditional Christmas pudding, oozing flaming brandy, courtesy Delia Smith

Meanwhile festivities are revving up for a week of celebrations in all corners of the globe—more glitzy in countries with the Santa Claus connection: the USA welcomes his reindeer to school halls and shopping malls. Yule logs burn in grates from Scandinavia to Scotland.

While New Year’s Eve is still a week away, around the globe Scots are preparing. They have their own name and a long rich heritage associated with the last night of the Old Year—Hogmanay.

Theories abound on the derivation of Hogmanay. While I favor the translation given by the Scots Dictionary—aguillaneuf=gift for a new year, below—there are others. The Scandinavian word for a feast preceding Yule was “Hoggo-nott” while the Flemish words (many have come into Scots) hoog min dag=’great love day’. Hogmanay can be traced back to Anglo-Saxon, Haleg monath, Holy Month, or the Gaelic, oge maidne, new morning.

Remembering that Mary, Queen of Scots grew up as child bride at the French court, the most likely source seems to be the French translated bodily to Scotland with her when she became Queen. ‘Homme est né’ (‘Man is born’) in France is the last day of the year when gifts were exchanged. Aguillaneuf is still celebrated in Normandy, and presents given at that time are hoguignetes.

Tar barrel flaming at Burghead on Auld ‘Eel ends with burning the Clavie at the ‘Doorie’ on the ribs of Pictish promontory beach fort

In Scotland a practice similar to Normandy was recorded, disapprovingly, by the Church:

It is ordinary among some Plebeians in the South of Scotland, to go about from door to door upon New Year`s Eve, crying Hagmane
Scotch Presbyterian Eloquence, 1693

Christmas was not celebrated as a festival and virtually banned in Scotland for 400 years, from Protestant Reformation c.end of C.17th until around 1950s. The reformed Kirk portrayed Christmas as a Popish or Roman Catholic feast and it was forbidden. Many Scots had to work over Christmas and their winter solstice holiday was taken at New Year, when family and friends gathered for a party and to exchange presents—especially for children.

Earliest known Gaulish Coligny ‘moon’ calendar of 13 months dates to A.D. 150

In the earliest known Celtic calendar, the Coligny Calendar of 13 moons (months), now in the Palais des Arts, Lyon, the year began at Samhain, November 1st Fire-Festival of the Dead. At this time the veil between this world and the Otherworld was believed so thin that the dead could return to warm themselves at the hearths of the living. And some living—especially poets, artists, clairvoyants and shaman/healers—were able to enter the Otherworld through the doorways of the sidhe, fairyfolk, like the stone-lined entrance to passage graves in Scotland and Ireland

When the Julian calendar was in place in Rome, the Coligny caledar was seen as the Gaulish equivalent of a 10-month/13moon year, beginning November.

Traditions before midnight on Samhain perpetuated in rural communities when the calendar changed to Gregorian (at the Reformation) such as cleaning the house on 31st December—including taking outside ashes from the fire, when coal fires were in vogue. There was a superstition to clear all debts before “the bells” at midnight.

On the stroke of midnight it is traditional to sing Auld Lang Syne. Robert Burns claimed his verse was based on an earlier fragment, and the melody was in print eighty years before he published in 1788.

Partying from Hallowe’en through Hogmanay
An integral part of Hogmanay partying which continues today is to welcome friends and strangers alike with warm hospitality; and to wish everyone a Guid New Year. The underlying belief is to clear out any vestiges of the old year—ancient tradition included literally sweeping the house clean—and preparing to welcome in a young, fresh New Year on a happy and positive note.

“First footing”—i.e. the first step over the threshold into the house after midnight—is less common now in cities, but continues in rural Scotland. To ensure good luck for the house, the First Foot should be male, dark-haired (believed to be a throwback from Viking days when blond strangers arriving on your doorstep meant trouble) and should bring symbolic coal, shortbread, salt, black bun and/or whisky. These days, however, whisky and perhaps shortbread are the only items still prevalent—and available.

“Handselling” was a custom of gift-giving on the first Monday of the New Year, but this may also have died out.

Magical fireworks displays and torchlight processions through Edinburgh, Elgin and many cities in Scotland are reminiscent of ancient custom at pagan Hogmanay parties which persevered until the late C.20th.

Traditionally one New Year ceremony more reminiscent of American Hallowe’en involved dressing up in cattle hides and running around the village being hit by sticks. The festivities included lighting bonfires, rolling blazing tar barrels down the hill—as is still practised in Burning the Clavie at Burghead, Morayshire—and tossing torches. Animal hide was wrapped around sticks and set on fire. This dense smoke fended off evil spirits. The smoking stick was also known as a Hogmanay.

Giant fireballs hefted by strongarm celebrants swing through Stonehaven harbor near Aberdeen on ‘auld ‘Eel’, old Yule

Some customs continue, especially in small, rural communities in the Highlands and Islands where tradition—along with language and dialect—are kept alive. On Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, young boys form rival bands, the leader of each wearing a sheepskin, while another member carries a sack. The gangs move through the village from house to house reciting a Gaelic rhyme. On being invited inside, the leader walks clockwise around the fire, while everyone hits the skin with sticks. Formerly, the boys would be given bannocks (fruit buns, similar to focaccia) for their sack before moving on to the next house. This tradition is reflected in American Hallowe’en, two months earlier.

Scotland’s Legacy of Ancient Customs
One of the most spectacular fire ceremonies to take place is in Stonehaven, just south of Aberdeen on the Northeast coast. Giant fireballs, weighing up to 20 pounds are lit and swung around on five foot-long metal poles that need sixty men to carry them, as they march up and down the High Street. The origin of this pre-Christian custom is linked to Winter Solstice December 21st, with giant fireballs signifying the power of the sun’s return. The fireballs were believed to purify the world by consuming evil spirits in the New Year.

Confusing Samhain/Hallowe’en with Hogmanay is understandable. Longtime tradition holds them inter-dependent. Only the numbers have changed.

A theory of gravity is also a theory of space and time — Albert Einstein

According to current thinking, we have gone beyond conventional spacetime and are now floating somewhere in a ‘construct’ of our own imagination.

One hundred years ago Albert Einstein had his great insight.

A decade afterwards he revised his general relativity to include quantum theory. And yet a century later physicists are still beating the quantum drum, trying to figure how to work outside theoretical time, when physicists have always formulated their theories within a space-time framework.

Let the New Year reveal.
And don’t forget. Raise those glasses on Hogmanay.

Winter sun enhances frost crystals from high cirrus cloud, to create light mirages

We just passed winter’s shortest day.
The solstice: solar ‘standstill’, the point when the Sun appears to come to rest at the center of the galactic plane. It seems to stand on celestial equator, pausing in time, moving neither north nor south.

Four winter solstices ago, we planetary travelers collided with Galactic Center on December 21st, 2012, when the Great Cycle Calendar of the Maya comes to full rest; pause; restart.

Time and Light or Bread and Circuses
The Romans—a civilization we liken ourselves to more as time elapses—became so tired of their outdated Julian calendar, adding days, subtracting nights, that they elaborated on the earlier pagan rekindling of Saturnalia—extending a Hallowe’en thru Christmas holiday period into ten days of non-time in the run-up to January 1st and the New Year.

Khronos, Father Time—in his human persona Aeon—holds zodiac wheel in balance for human race

Khronos, Father Time—in his human persona Aeon—holds zodiac wheel in balance for human race

This respected period of utter chaos, drunken festivities, carnival and masqued balls was known as Saturnalia.

Not to be confused with current Hogmanay in Scotland.
While the Scots may already feel repercussions, there are certainly more to come—in the Empire and in now-disintegrated Scotland, Hogmanay will live forever, whatever the climate. Rhyme at top is traditional toast in broad Scots to test if you could outdrink them. Translation for dummies in comment section, below.

This year’s solstitial preparation for the New is a good time for pausing.
For all of us:

To contemplate how much we shall change in the coming year—because the Human Race is changing fast and we have changed radically in the past year—
To give thanks for the road that brought us here to this point in space and time and for this moment—before plunging into the maelstrom once more—
To bless all those immediately around us NOW—as well as our loved ones far afield—absent friends—and family gone to fresher fields—
A time to remember and a time to look forward—

Time and Light are on our side.

Χρονος Kronos was God of and out of Time, Father Time

Κρονος A Titan who killed his father Ouranos—Uranus, Roman creator god
Both confused within Roman god Saturn.

KRONOS (Roman Saturn) was the primordial Greek god of time. In the Orphic cosmogony he emerged self-formed at the dawn of creation. He was seen as discorporeal, serpentine in form, with three heads—of a man, a bull, and a lion. He and his consort, serpentine goddess Ananke—Inevitability—enveloped the primordial world-egg in their coils and split it apart to form the ordered universe of earth, sea and sky. After this act of creation the couple circled the cosmos driving the rotation of heaven and the eternal passage of time

Kronos was depicted in Greco-Roman mosaic as Aeon—Eternity personified. He holds a wheel inscribed with signs of the zodiac and Gaia—Mother Earth—reclines at his feet, right. A.D.5thC. poet Nonnus of Panopolis described Aeon as an old man with long, white hair and a beard, below, but mosaic-art presents a youthful figure—above.

The figure of Kronos was essentially a cosmological double of the Titan Kronos/Cronus—Father Time. Confusing the heirarchy, Hellenist culture sometimes merged Kronos with creator-god Phanes, and occasionally with the Titan Ophion.

Χρονος /Kronos self-created master of Time

No wonder we in the 21stC are confused. Drawn irrevocably to the madness of twelve days out of Time—just enough to feed our inner spirit, before we have to step back into the so-called real world when January hits.

ThunderSnow four inches on the Coast Range; chains required. Freezing hail in Mexico, battling a weak tropical front.

Thundersnow! Even the weather forecasters have given up; while in California, agriculture and home farmers are grateful for any seasonal precipitation, to allow the parched earth some semblance of moisture catchup, before the growing season starts all over again.

Hope for the Human Race to begin again with new resolution?

Even resolutions can be broken. Two years ago the Western nations agreed to a climate resolution. There are many who are doing their utmost to stick to clear healthy living, with clean healthy energy.
And there are those who are not. Marrakesh Climate Talks notwithstanding, United Airlines, one of the last American flight providers to operate within United States, as well as internationally, has closed its service to northern University town Eureka/Arcata, but has opened two new flight services to mainland China.

The mind boggles.

As does our inner spirit—watching and waiting for us to catch up with our human selves in a real grasp of what we are doing to our Pale Blue Dot—our only home—until they colonize Mars.

May we—at least some of us—wake up before that. They say seventeen is a good number.
Happy New Year.

Solstice and Yule—When Cosmic Forces Collide, Religions Meet

Christmas Full Moon
Eight foot tides will run at their highest for Solstice. This year, as a bright waxing moon leads up to Christmas Night, from Monday through Wednesday December 21-23, 2015, tides along the Northern California coastline will reach near-‘maximum tidal range’, beyond which local fishermen and surfers abandon ports of Eureka and Shelter Cove and retreat behind the sandbags.

Full “Cold Moon” at sunset on Christmas Day—first to return to that configuration in our skies since 1977—will add to the frivolity and human goodwill generated en masse at this time of year. Happy Hanukkah, Eid, and of course Siderealview’s greatest pagan celebration, end of the old year—Hogmanay yay!

Earthquake Zone meets El Niño

As northern Pacific waters begin to freeze around the edges, the Southern Ocean revs up for the 2015 El Niño season. Prelude this year has been massive heat ceilings, causing water to become warmer for longer than the norm. September 2015 Equinox water temperatures in Humboldt Bay, Northern California, were 68ºF. Coastal Land temperature same day was 58ºF.

This autumn, however, the tropical storm system has had cosmic assistance.

Musical system known as the Circle of Fifths matches perfectly with Buckminster Fuller’s “vector equilibrium”: the Cuboctahedron. This same geometry is theorized in the Resonance Project, as a way we measure Space itself as an almost infinite supply of energy (in the form of quantum vacuum fluctuations), even though we perceive it to be completely empty. This is because it is in a perfectly balanced state, where all Vectors in the geometry are of equal length—
—Twelve around One—
Nassim Haramein, The Resonance Project

Sudden land temperature change is not the Ocean’s way. Slow to heat up, this watery stage holds its warm baby longer—until El Niño enters from the wings.

Solar (sunspot) activity has increased in recent weeks and Christmas weekend, Earthlings are targeted for more Coronal Mass Ejection—CME—effects: solar panel damage, electronic blackout, countered by spectacular (North) Polar Aurora Borealis. NOAA and SOHO label is ‘incoming STORM’, sidebar below right.

Screen Shot 2015-12-19 at 9.23.47 PMMeantime the equatorial ‘Volcanic Belt’ which few people pay attention to—just happens to run parallel from coastal-Mexico South to coastal-Peru and in mid-Pacific, through the Mariana Trench, the deepest ocean on Earth, through Fiji, Tonga. The so-called Carnegie Ridge is a huge submerged volcanic plate that runs through Cocos Ridges and the Galapagos tectonic plate, or Platform. There it heads for the coast of Peru, becoming sub-ducted under the South American continent where it collides—approximately—with the Andes.

In East-Central Equatorial Pacific, El Niño feeds off this interaction between ocean and atmosphere, producing cyclical peaks, like any other natural phenomenon. Geneva’s World Meteorological Center predicts end-2015-2016 season to run neck-and-neck with three greatest historical surges. The strengthening 2015-2016 season is forecast to hit New Year’s Eve, with current ocean temperatures two degrees Centigrade—2ºC—above normal.
Strongest previous El Niños were in 1972-73, 1982-83 and 1997-98.

‘This naturally occurring El Niño event and human-induced climate change may interact and modify each other in ways which we have never before experienced’
Secretary-General, World Meteorological Center, Geneva EU

Where Tropical Cyclones and Hurricanes meet
El Niño has already sparked an active tropical cyclone season in the Northern Pacific. Closer to U.S. in eastern North Pacific basin, Hurricane Patricia made landfall in Mexico October 24, 2015 and was reportedly (NOAA) the most intense tropical cyclone in the western hemisphere. Coastal Peru, Ecuador and Chile usually bear the brunt of warming waters and concomitant extra rainfall.

Peru declared a pre-emptive state of emergency in July 2015 for fourteen of its 25 states, setting aside $70 million, to prepare for the coming winter rains. Local authorities have been clearing river beds of debris, reinforcing river banks with rocks, sandbags and fortifying reservoir walls.

Yet it may not be enough.

El Nino tropical Pacific anomaly

The two deadliest floods in Ecuador’s history occurred during strong El Niño events: in November 1982—307 deaths—and October 1997—218 died. Peru’s deadliest flood (518 fatalities) occurred during the 1997 El Niño event. A United Nations-backed study said that the 1997-1998 El Niño cost Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela approximately $11 billion.

One aspect of the El Niño effect is to reduce rainfall in drought-prone regions. Australia, India and Bangladesh have already been suffering with near-desert conditions prevailing through summer-autumn 2015

Ocean Warming
Increasing water temperatures in the central-eastern Pacific create more fertile conditions for tropical rain and clouds. Seasonal heavy rainfall that usually hits north Australia at this time, abandons its southern tropical band and heads for the central-eastern Pacific basin.

Also prevailing trade winds, traditionally blowing east to west over the Pacific, weaken—or, worse, reverse.

Fueling more extremes.

Highest tides for a decade combine with solar coronal mass ejections (CMEs, sidebar right)—incoming—to give the human race a little more to think about over the Festive Season than just buying trinkets, decorating trees or lighting sequential candles on the Menorah.

Haven for Humankind
For those who watch the skies, the Full Cold Moon [‘when deer shed their antlers’ in Native American Pacific Northwest] blesses us by rising ENE—Azimuth= 69.6°—at dusk on December 25th, opposite the sun setting WSW—Azimuth=239.1°—in constellation Sagittarius. The fickle Moon rises first in opposite astro sign Taurus; then moves one hour later into challenging Gemini. If humankind needs to be stimulated any more than we already are, this year-end astronomical/astrological cycle returning after thirty-eight years, promises innovative solutions.*

Northern Pacific Fishing Season on Hold
Snow-wracked northern hemisphere—with its rainy coastal counterparts (Naples, Florida experienced 87ºF on Solstice) may bring a better outcome for fishing fleets on both shores—California crab fishing has been on hold throughout December, while authorities assess potential risk of ‘bottom-feeders’ transmitting domoic acid-packed meat through the food chain.

While coastal control agencies continue to monitor the crab disease, fishing boats lie idle in Humboldt Bay. Some say they’re glad of the break. Others look to January and the start of the 2016 sport fishing season for new beginnings.

Hogmanay/Saturnalia

This time of year we loosen Kronos/Saturn’s bonds.
The ancient God awakens from His sleep,
and rules the Earth as in the Golden Age.

Meanwhile, with the joyful sound of merrymaking—even Saturnalian singing—on our lips and ears, perhaps the human race may find a place where we, as simple vibratory beings withinin the Great Vibration may find a bolt hole—Resonance Project quote by Nassim Haramein, above.

Sending (the smallest, whispered) blessings to those less fortunate than ourselves in this Yule season of challenge and change—earthquake-prone Hindu Kush comes to mind—we may, like Native Scots, invoke angelic help for Hogmanay—by welcoming the dark stranger over the threshold for our New Year.

Solstitial Stillness : Prelude to Midsummer Madness?

June 25, 2013

Rare lightning storm over Chile's VLT array (very large telescope) at 8,500ft Cerro Paranal, Atacama desert

Rare lightning storm over Chile’s VLT array (very large telescope) at 8,500ft Cerro Paranal, Atacama desert

Solstice, they say, should be a time of stillness. Ancient civilizations—however primitive our society views them—were aware of the sun’s influence on their lives and its ability apparently to ‘stand still’ twice each year, when it reaches its greatest distance from the celestial equator. Now, in the Enlightened Aquarian Age, we hold festival over winter to celebrate that time of change. What do we do in summer? Go on vacation? Study crop circles? Some continue to work right through this special time, not realizing our connection to its ancient traditions, rooted in the earth.

Party Time!
Some cultures continue to make offerings, like the Ayamara in Peru. English do Maypole dance, Cornish have their Green Man bonfires, Nevada its Burning Man Festival, August 26-September 2nd this year, and California its music. So perhaps the consciousness behind celebrating in the fields is not totally lost to urbanites, if we can drink in the stillness offered by nature and make an effort to incorporate calm communion with the Earth in our everyday lives.

Classical civilization certainly knew how to do that—and party. And if they didn’t have gods of their own to offer obeisance and reverence to, they imported others. Saturnalia was known throughout the Roman world as the epitome of winter revelry, debauchery, excess, as the only time the old rigid god Saturn let down his hair. Equally, in summertime, they pulled out all the stops, liberally borrowing gods and goddesses from other cultures as themes suited.

Cybele, adopted as Mother-protectrix of Rome's 'city and fields' wore the Phrygian helmet-crown of warrior goddess

Cybele adopted as Mother-protectrix of Rome’s ‘city and fields’ wore the Phrygian helmet-crown of warrior goddess

Cybele, right, the original pre-classical (Bronze Age, c.8thC BC) Indo-European Earth Mother warrior goddess from Phrygia-Anatolia, Turkey—symbol of fertility, earth’s swelling summer cornucopia of growth and abundance—was converted for her ‘psychic powers’ to take a place in the Greek and Roman pantheon. The Sybil who issued prophetic knowledge, like the Delphic Oracle, was her Roman adaptation. She was guardian of Rome. Her Egyptian equivalent was revered as Earth Mother figure Hathor; but the later Greeks, succumbing to male-dominant cultural needs, altered her concept of ‘love’ to one embodied by Aphrodite—losing the earth connection.

The Earth Mother of prehistoric cultures—whose neolithic carved dolls date to pre-Ice Age Europe—survives in vestigial worship of Inca Pachamama in Bolivia, but had turned volte-face in the Aegean by the time of the Trojan wars, when male physical prowess and warlike behavior on all fronts were supreme in Greek eyes. It is curious to note that hero of the Trojan wars, Paris, embodying male physical beauty, pure in mind, focused in war and manly pursuits like discus and javelin dexterity, was an imported ‘alien'(suppressed culture) superhero who wore the prehistoric Phrygian helmet (like Cybele), denoting his more ancient origins. The Roman army dedicated its legions’ souls to the care of Mithras—another import from Phrygia, complete with godly war-helmet.

Where the primeval mother-warrior had battled time and the elements for the good of the Earth, bringing fruits in season, male culture—in taking over the role of earth-caretaker—may have gone a little overboard on the warrior front.

In astrological circles this solstitial time is seen as one of huge change—in context of life, personal vision, and clearing away old debris, solstitial chart by Astrotheme, left.

Astronomically, NASA/NOAA’s solstitial prediction for ‘few’ aurorae over the midsummer period, includes a mention by the space agency of meteor showers, Eta Delphinids, M-class solar flares ongoing, with resulting storms hitting earth through June and July. Earth’s magnetosphere activity is listed as ‘unsettled’ during this period, see changes sidebar right. We are, after all, midway through solar maximum, 2013.

Somewhere between the two star camps there appears in the northern sky one of our least-known yet most massive constellations, only visible in summer: Ophiuchus. Both astro sides agree: this giant (dim) group of stars stretching from the head of Scorpio across Libra and Virgo, to touch the (upside-down) head of Hercules at zenith, brings into the summer sky images—and concepts from the ancient mind—most appropriate to this silly season. Because of the cosmic quirk of precession of the equinoxes—earth’s ‘wobble’ on its axis bringing it successively through each of the zodiac signs, backwards—we in the Aquarian Age in Earth’s subtropical, tropical and temperate zones are seeing—many for the first time—two gigantic constellations which were familiar to the Ancients, who anthropomorphized them as expressions of their own conflicting ideals.

backwards thru Zodiac~~ Aquarius: water-bearer, far-sighted visionary, troubled by burdens—symbol of the Age

Constellation Ophiuchus, Flamsteed Celestial Atlas, 1776

Ophiuchus: Ὀφιοῦχος “Serpent-bearer”, serpent-wielding handler of snakes, transitioned from his ancient image of enlightened Man wrestling-with-conscience through medieval image of unbridled male sexual power, to Georgian image of protective fatherly person-of-age and wisdom and healing, to Victorian preoccupation with—mostly male—medical profession—caduceus, or *thyrsus a symbol of healing derived from a rod (bamboo, fennel, or the male member) wrapped in a vine, ivy or flower garlands.

Unusually, both ‘scientific’ and ‘psychic’ astros agree, constellation Ophiuchus will dominate the July 2013 sky, rising higher than it has in the last two thousand years. Some extreme astrologers have suggested rearranging the traditional/tropical zodiac, to make room for another constellation (because his feet actually stand on the ecliptic, between Scorpio and Sagittarius). Current western astrology, however, is a convention developed from zodiac signs visible in Roman/Greek skies, using attributes associated with cultural gods/seasons/beliefs of that time, and these which would lose meaning if arbitrarily rearranged.

As Ophiuchus makes its first appearance since the “EndTimes of 2012″—brighter and more dominant than at any time in human memory—there may be another message for us in its new guise.

Greco-Roman god Priapus, rescued fresco from Pompeii c.AD79, Archaeological Museum of Naples

Greco-Roman god Priapus, rescued fresco from Pompeii c.AD79, Archaeological Museum of Naples

PRIAPOS was the rustic god of the Ancient world, responsible through his unbridled fertility for the bounty of the vegetable garden. Later stylized as a dwarfish entity with a huge penis, which symbolized garden fertility, originally his head was crowned with a peaked Phrygian cap, belying his origin as a god, native to the Hellespont, ancient Phrygia. His cult was introduced into Greece and Italy, where his mythology was reinterpreted in Greek terms. Greeks naturally named him a son of one of their phallic gods: either Hermes/Mercury or, more often Dionysos. His mother was Aphrodite. They were accompanied by satyrs Orthanes and Tykhon.

Priapos/Priapus was honored by Greeks, Romans, Mysians, Hittites, Egyptians (their Apis, bull of fertility) as protector of sheep, goats, bees, the vine and of all garden produce. In formative cultures, the phallus was the ancient emblem of creation. It represented gods Bacchus, Priapus, Hermaphroditus, Hercules, Shiva, Osiris, Baal and Asher, who were all Phallic deities. Roman Priapus, a stylized symbol of Rome’s mastery of the then world, had odes written to him and poems pinned on patio phalluses in gardens of aristocratic ladies who wished to keep their arboreal spirits potent.

The most famous extant depiction of Priapus is the Pompeiian fresco, above. He is crowned with peaked Phrygian cap, shown weighing his enormous member on a set of scales against the produce of the fields. He wears Phrygian war-boots, and has a Bacchic, cone-tipped thyrsus* resting by his side.

In festive summer frolics, Priapus was depicted accompanied by garden nymphs, dyads and maenads, each waving a flower-wreathed *thyrsus—a wand made from fennel or bamboo, with a pierced pine-cone at its tip, which nymphs used as mini-phalluses to poke at the unitiated or to ward off satyrs and unwanted suitors.

In Celtic mythology he is the god of spring, Greenman, vestigial Druid prince-king-god who invoked fertility for his land through dance in sacred groves where tree and nature-spirits dwell.

Primitive statues of the god were traditionally set up in vegetable plots to promote fertility, with the added benefit of functioning as a type of scarecrow for scaring away birds. But when garden gnomes became a late 19thC fashion, their priapic member was eliminated in the mass-produced version, as Victorian sensibilities dictated that such garden gnomes NOT display their ‘private parts’, in case ladies in passing carriages should succumb to the ‘vapors’ and require medical assistance.

Priapic Preoccupation in Crop Circles
Victorian humor aside, Priapos was genuinely revered as patron of the garden, guardian of growth for all crops, and it is a relief to see this multi-faceted countryside god showing his (at least symbolic) head above ground—as a sign of bounty to come?—in the first two-phase crop circle appearance at Stanton St Bernard, Wiltshire, June 21st.

Solstitial crop circles have traditionally sent some of the clearest messages as the theme of a season; it is tempting to believe that the paucity of designs in Wiltshire—twelve during June; British total for season—is one of those. Meanwhile, crop circle anticipation remains high: manfully upheld by the Italian contingent, as the fields of Rome, Tuscany and northern Italy have had a relatively ‘normal’ growing season—that in itself may suggest we show a little deference to our classical heritage.

So it is riveting to see that the season’s first ‘complex’ symbol should appear right on schedule—over solstice—in the Wiltshire ‘hub‘, in the same fields which created all the uproar last year, see Siderealview archives.

*Seen as a thyrsus, (typically, English has no translation for a wand wreathed in flowers sporting a bristle like a dildo), its pinecone-like business end pointed straight at Milk Hill—representative of ancient Earth Mother-milk-and-honey-bounty—the first meaningful crop circle of the season may once more be pulling at us with multiple strands. Targeting the Mother hill (the highest in Wiltshire) goes partway to awakening dormant English respect for ancient ways. By incorporating the dildo-pinecone in a sword- (or thyrsus-like) javelin cut straight through the barley and aimed at Milk Hill’s symbol of male strength—the horse riding the Mother—this crop design rekindles memories of pineal gland/third eye crop formations of summer 2011.

Messages then were that we/’Society’ release our male left-brain stranglehold on our fragile 21stC world, allow the female intuitive right-brain heart-centered side to come out of dormancy and express more freely. And that the pleasure zone: endorphins, melatonin and the pineal gland, function together as a means to synthesize and synchronize this new awareness in us humans by connecting our mind-body-spirit back to our terrestrial home.

Now, in post-Omega-Point reflection through a slow growing season, we are reminded to temper our left hemisphere destruction of habitat, and instead to devote time to more reverent and respectful treatment of our earthly environment.

To add to this summer madness, Ophiuchus rises to full stature in the northern July night, unseen until now in such grandeur by 21stC eyes. He stands diametrically opposite Orion, filling the southern arc of the night sky, his feet astride the ecliptic, between Sagittarius and Scorpio, his head grazed by the upside-down head of Hercules at zenith. Grasping with both hands he wields the Serpent: Serpens Caput in his left; Serpens Cauda in his right, the dual twisting constellation locked between his outstretched legs, as if caught in flagrante delicto, not a god, but a man wrestling his (inner and) outer demons.

Summer’s greatest blessing is that we northerners can relax, feel warm, surrounded by earth’s cornucopia of beauty, vegetative growth at its height—lulled into enjoying the brief season without thought to winter, responsibility, cold… the grasshopper and ant scenario. Or, with American Independence Day July 4th just around the corner, could consciousness of the ‘Silly Season’ already be taking hold? Celebrate now for tomorrow we die?

CROP ALERT!

Huge crop formation appeared June 14th in Camponogara, Province of Venezia (Venice), Italy

June in Britain has been—so far—a disappointment, with farmers’ fields almost a month behind in growth. The crop circle season, therefore, has also lagged behind. So, when the first really eye-popping vision of a ‘classic’ crop circle appeared in sun-drenched barley in northern Italian province of Venezia, ten miles west of the floating city, at Camponogara, all eyes in Croppiedom were on the new design: a ‘Pokémon’ ball, an alarm button? what was the crop circle Deva trying to alert us to?

One has the feeling that the Earth, herself, is seeking our attention, and expressing her messages through the most available resource she has: ripening grain.
Siderealview

Golden Ball Hill CC appeared on solstice, June 20, 2012 in Vale of Pewsey, Wilts. Visitors not encouraged.

The British contingent was distraught: the English CC season had been what Brits call ‘difficult’, ‘flaming’ June struggling against weather conditions which would test the most stalwart rain-lover. There were distractions: the full moon of June 4th produced an annular solar eclipse; with a rare Venus transit next day; both witnessed by millions (in person; via livestream, internet, image bottom). So, perhaps encouraged by signs in the skies, the four small early-June crop appearances in Wiltshire were seen, not as a sad flop, but merely a prelude to what croppies now look for in the Solstitial Message—the manifestation of multiple—and meaningful—crop circles during solstice week.

Oare-Pewsey triangle crop circle June 20, 2012 in barley, near same heart-shaped wood featured solstice 2010

Most memorable, and as yet undecyphered, is the Milk Hill Astrolabe, with coded vanes and tail, of solstice, 2009.

But it is interesting that 2012’s solstice duo should appear to flank the same heart-shaped wood which featured on solstice, June 21, 2010, when its code was quickly interpreted to show the precise calculation of Phi, 1.1618, the Golden Mean, the Fibonacci sequence, around which all Nature and organic growth spirals.

And so, the enigma continues.

While deeply disconcerting for Stowell Farms—the Oare Wiltshire farmer who still believes designs are made by local ‘vandals’, and bemoaned this week being ‘recipient’ of two circles overnight on solstice night—the croppie community (with growing internet support group) have had their appetite assuaged, delighted by timely aerial images of both the Vale of Pewsey, Wiltshire and another two in the Vale of Severn, 55 miles due north, in Shropshire. This came as a double surprise: rural Shropshire—ancient Salop—between the awful human morass of Wolverhampton and the stark natural glacial outcrop of the Wrekin, is where hamlets connect through leafy lanes, and rolling fields are still hemmed in by copses (coppices) in olde worlde style, but where—sadly—an indelicately-managed takeover of Ancient Forest lands by corporate behemoth UK Coal, has come up against significant protest from the naturalist and wildlife lobby in its (ongoing) opencast coal extraction pits at Telford, within sight of the Wrekin, and within one mile of both solstice crop circles, at Malthouse Farm June 20th, and its predecessor at Wenlock Wood, June 17th. Wenlock Wood orbs, image below, lead the eye to their Malthouse companion CC one mile distant; while it reciprocates in highlighting a field telegraph pole whose wires lead west to Wenlock Wood. Both have additional meteorological symbol hooks, which point north to the coal extraction dumps.

Much Ado About Little Wenlock

Both Wenlock crop circles feature weather feather symbolism: Wenlock Wood figure, left—a weather feather—clearly points from the mast on Wenlock Hill towards Little Wenlock and the solstice formation at Malthouse. Both Malthouse Farm and Wenlock Wood designs triangulate over one mile north to the protesters’ Treesit Camp in the middle of one-thousand-year-old Limekiln Wood, Short Wood and Birch Coppice—now being razed by the Coal conglomerate, after being stalled for four years by public opinion. Their ‘restoration plan of pasture and parkland’ promises a return to lark song and mountain views sometime between 2014-2017, but millennium-old oak, and companion natural birch and pine, are gone forever.

405-ft East Field ‘weather feather’ crop circle July 11, 1990 was first of the modern designs to manifest at Alton Barnes

The four-year campaign to protect countryside of ‘outstanding natural beauty’ may not have hit international headlines (coal interests saw to that), but clearly the crop circlemakers felt a need to highlight the plight of irreplaceable natural hinterland of the Severn headwaters, the traditionally-sacred Wrekin*, and the 140-mile Shropshire Way walkers’ and naturalists’ haven, as part of their ongoing subliminal support of getting us thinking like the Back-to-Nature movement.

*On a side-note: the Wrekin, while elevated in ‘recent’ geologic time to its present 1,335-ft, was formed in a primordial (Silurian) tropical sea 425 million years ago, whose coral fragments may still be found along the paths of the Way. An Iron-Age double-entrance enclosure on its sacred summit is locally known as Hell Gate (outer) and Heaven Gate (inner). Nearby fifteen-mile-long Wenlock Edge is one of the finest limestone escarpments in England, supporting wild meadows of endangered cowslip, rare orchids and helleborine. Electromagnetically-speaking, its limestone-permeated soil and alkaline aquifers are ideally suited to conduct subterranean waveforms which appear to be directly associated with crop circle formation.

‘Out of the confusion of a crumbling society, will emerge individuals who are touched by higher guidance. They will inevitably flow together with others of like inspiration, and a new quality of society will begin to form. This is the true adventure of our time’
Sir George Trevelyan, founder Wrekin Trust

The Wrekin Trust was formed in 1971 by long-time Findhorn Foundation patron, Sir George Trevelyan (1906-1996). He was known in Britain as Grandfather of the New Age Movement, and lived his life according to Earth’s own natural laws, guidance and intuition. He spoke to the ‘Nature spirits’—Pan in particular—and pioneered the teaching of spiritual knowledge as part of adult education. It seems appropriate that 2012 Wrekin Trust Forum is entitled ‘Toward a Planetary Consciousness’.

But, back to weather portents!

“Crop Circles are formed by descending energetic vortices from the atmosphere, a vortex of air which is ionised to the point at which it is better regarded as a species of low-density cool plasma, producing a high-energy electromagnetic field.”
Plasma Vortices Theory, Prof. G. Terence Meaden, Univ. of Oxford Adult Education Archaeologist, Meteorologist and Head of TORRO Tornado Research

Adult educator, Dr Terence Meaden’s Plasma Vortices Theory describes how a rotating mass of electrically-charged air (sometimes reported as a UFO) might form from certain weather conditions, interacting with topographical features in the landscape. It would explain the malfunction of electronic equipment, orb sightings and hundreds of personal testimonies by people experiencing ‘altered consciousness’, within a ‘genuine’ crop circle.

Researcher Ed Sherwood witnessed scores of orbs—his ‘dragon energy‘—during his three years of living near Alton Barnes, and is convinced optimum weather conditions produce the best circles.

“Of the 56 (orbs) that I saw between 1992 and 1996 while living within three miles of East Field (one of England’s most prodigious crop circle sites), 31 looked ‘plasma-like’: luminous, diffusely edged ‘fire balls’ that materialised in a variety of colours, though most often amber, or ‘Golden’, and/or red; and 29 of those occurred in the same weather conditions, characterised by calm stable air, high pressure, high humidity, and low to no wind speed.” Ed Sherwood ‘Meteorological connection to Crop Circles.’

The appearance of the latest circle on ‘Golden Ball Hill’ seems to mirror his experience with dragon energy, and his report is worth reading.

On the edge of last year’s August 15th Jubilee Plantation crop formation, the mysterious symbol likened to a ‘weather feather’ may have predicted a deluge for England during her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations ten months later

It is tempting to speculate that among the final patterns of last year was a message to prepare us for the wet season of 2012. In hindsight, Jubilee Plantation’s weather-feather at Cherhill, right, now looks like a sure sign predicting a downpour for Her Majesty’s June 3rd Royal Barge procession down the Thames during her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Now, with several more meteorological signs appearing, perhaps what the crop circle community senses is somewhat like a playback of one’s own dream/ideas rerun at a different speed, or rewound over slightly antiquated equipent, using symbols which only graze our consciousness, begging to be interpreted. ‘Croppies’—from all walks of life—tend to be imaginative, creative, open-minded, spiritually-adventurous—and communicative—people, so this synergy combined with the internet’s rapid evolution, provides a myriad platforms for transmitting ideas.

And if embryo group consciousness is taking hold, perhaps the CC community is first up to bat…

Alton Barnes ‘tadpoles’ heading North: three designs in early barley, swimming for Woodborough Hill, appeared June 9th in overnight rain; cut out by farmer June 10th 2012; timely photo Lucy Pringle

There is much material available on dimensional reality, the concept of multiple or parallel universes; and the idea of ‘possibilities’ existing alongside one’s choices—until we pick a course that becomes our ‘reality’—is no longer an esoteric subject for rarified discussion. Over (at least) the last three seasons, we have been shown images of dimensions beyond what was previously thought to be ‘real’. We are mesmerized by corn magic, as successive optical illusions, created as 2D images, viewed from above—through the magic of video/computer screens—provide instant mantra: living room meditation. For a moment it seems not at all eccentric to see Lucy Pringle’s tadpoles, left, as messages swimming through the limestone aquifer, the energy matrix, towards our greater enlightenment of this amazing phenomenon.

Manton Drove, Marlborough ‘Polar clock’ June 2nd. Circuits from centre outwards measure 1. month 2. date 3. day of week 4.hour 5. minute 6. second: predicts Saturday August 4th. There is no circuit for the (current) year

Before the Italian design (top) and the meteorological glyphs came to taunt us, the first Wiltshire crop circle in barley appeared June 2nd at Manton Grove in the form of a polar clock, giving wired croppies fodder for debate and a ‘date’ to focus on: Saturday August 4th, at either 18:45:50 or 19:43:53, depending on interpretation. In computer/screen saver ‘polar clocks’, convention dictates that the outermost ring denotes time in seconds. It has been speculated that on Saturday evening, August 4th, the Finals of both Men’s and Women’s Athletics will take place in London’s Olympic Stadium; and this would tie in well with the current media trend of overstuffing the population with visual entertainment—the equivalent of Roman ‘bread and circuses’—but, like the later Shropshire circles, a telephone pole at Manton Drove seems chosen deliberately as a focal point; then one recalls that Cotswold-born Charles Wheatstone (1802-1875), inventor of the polar clock, was also instrumental in the development of early telegraph systems and a major contributor to Spectroscopy: which is the study of the interaction between matter and radiated energy.

Now everything seems to be concerned with the interface between matter and radiating energy! If crop circles have opened up the field for group imagination and shared consciousness to express itself, then excitement generated makes them ideal chambers of consciousness, exquisitely decorated multi-dimensional motifs which trigger a range of human emotion: from anger through devoted care through spontaneous healing and revelation. Some chambers seem to ripen as the season advances, as the grain within them also matures. Let us hope that implies hope for the human race.

Some amazing conclusions have already been reached by the croppie following, which do have concensus in their peer group. We shall have to wait and see if these new meteorological portents have relevance to just the earthly dimension, or whether the 2012 season is about to be shocked into reality by space-weather, too. With the runup to solar maximum (2013) and increasing frequency of electromagnetic plasma flares and CMEs heading in our direction, perhaps telephone/power lines highlighted in recent formations point to consequent telegraph/communications disruption, which would affect us all. If we add that variable to the dragon’s brew we are concocting, are we prepared for the consequences?

Alternatively, if we stood up now, as one, and demanded solar power, pollution-free energy, even Tesla’s free lightning generators, as the circlemakers suggest, would we be able to change our own future, in time to save it from such a calamity?

Facing One’s Power in the Age of Light

January 25, 2012

The Electric Universe

Electromagnetism invades all walks of life. It permeates inventions, discoveries in electronics; and revolutionary use of crystalline and silicone technology has brought it into the mainstream where it now affects all strata of world culture.

Yet behind the scenes, we know that its ephemeral nature — its very essence as a ‘force’ on Earth — makes it fragile and open to disruption by an even greater electromagnetic source — that powering our Sun.

The Superstorm of September 1859 known as the Carrington Event is often quoted as earth’s worst magnetic storm, when the planet passed through a solar particle storm (coronal mass ejection, CME) lasting a week. Most of middle N.America was without rudimentary communication; telegraph systems worldwide were disrupted; spontaneous fires broke out. If such an Event were to happen now, there would be complete electronic blackout: hitting communications satellites, GPS; knocking out high-frequency radio communications which airplanes use to fly polar routes; overload electrical grids and blow out transformers, i.e. geo-collapse.

Much recent work by the Thunderbolts Project, glowing from their January 6-8, 2012 Conference, has shed light on electromagnetic powering of stars and galaxies. Key points of their theory give weight to an Electric Universe over one dominated by gravity and black holes:

Electricity now seen to play a more significant role in the Universe than previously accepted;

Sun and stars electrically powered by drift currents (Electric Connection)

Planetary surface features like craters, dendritic structures and rilles caused by super-lightning (electrical scarring)

Certain cosmic phenomena are electrical in nature, including:
Comet tails (electric comets)
The plumes of Enceladus
Martian dust devils
Galaxy formation and dynamics — circumventing the need for black holes and dark matter

Electricity and Magnetism as Waves of Light

B1509 pulsar called The Hand of God

In 1860 a 30-year old Scot at Cambridge, James Clerk Maxwell, discovered that the interplay between vibrating magnetic and electric fields created a wave.

He found that electric or magnetic fields alone could not create a wavelike motion; only the delicate interplay between electric and magnetic fields could produce this special wave.

At the time the universe as Man knew it consisted of Newtonian gravity, the four elements of alchemy and the metaphysical belief in ethers surrounding Earth. Space was the unknown frontier, a vast unexplored vacuum. Yet Maxwell proposed these waves operated in that void.

“To most physicists Maxwell’s idea seemed preposterous because there was no ‘ether’ to conduct these waves. Maxwell’s fields were ‘disembodied’ and moved by themselves, without a conducting medium.” Michio Kaku ‘Beyond Einstein: Cosmic Quest for A Theory of the Universe’, 1995.

Maxwell discovered light was made up of electric fields (E) and magnetic fields (B) which oscillate in unison --electric fields vibrate vertically, magnetic fields horizontally

Maxwell was undaunted. Using his equations to calculate, he found he was able to derive a specific number for the speed of this wave. He was astonished to find it was the speed of light. Light was revealed as a series of electric fields chained and interconnected with — and turning into — magnetic fields. Maxwell had accidentally discovered that his equations unraveled the nature of light as an electromagnetic wave.

Theory of Everything
His revelation was the first unified field theory — affectionately called the TOE: Theory of Everything.

Ever since Maxwell’s ground-breaking work, Light has been seen as the electro-magnetic force, created by vibration of electric and magnetic fields rapidly turning into each other;

RADAR, ULTRAVIOLET, INFRARED, RADIO, MICROWAVES, TELEVISION and X-RAYS

are intertwined and speed-linked forms taken by the electromagnetic wave.

Electric Universe theory supported by the inter-disciplinary Thunderbolts Project has built on the work begun by Maxwell; expanded and expounded by Albert Einstein’s phenomenal mind; triggered by quantum theory. Like its sister, Stanford prof. Leonard Susskind’s Holographic Universe Theory, which also defies the old ‘black-hole model’, EU’s proponents are excited by unprecendented confirmations of their original predictions.

Recent EU predictions are confirmed by mainstream astrophysicists using ever-complex telescope technology not available in Maxwell’s time, but now able to detect electrical activity throughout the Universe.

Supernova 1987A in the Magellanic Cloud, closest supernova event (169,000 light years distant) since the invention of the telescope, exhibits massive electrical discharges from its central star

“The EU model has brought vastly more success than those from the mainstream. For instance, no one can argue that the ‘astonishing’ outburst of Comet Holmes 17P was ‘predictable’ nor even understandable by mainstream scientists. There are many other recent data and discoveries: from the validation of the electric Sun/Earth connection, to the observation of ‘impossibly’ huge cosmic ‘voids’, to the ongoing ‘mystery’ of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays… to anomalous (i.e. electrical) space weather. We are seeing precisely what one should expect if the predominant force in the heavens is electricity, not gravity”
Michael Goodspeed, Electric Universe Predictions

Supernova 1987A depicted in crop designs in Italy and Czech Republic, June-July 2011

A massive and graphic example of classic electrical discharge and stranding from a star is Supernova 1987A, above and left — the closest supernova event to happen in our skies since the invention of the telescope. First seen in February 1987 in the Magellanic Cloud, our dwarf companion galaxy to the Milky Way 169,000 light years from Earth, its discharges have increased and brightened since its discovery.

“Close observation since its appearance in 1987 provides proof that supernovae are catastrophic electrical discharges focused on a star.” Thunderbolts Project

GEO600 gravitational wave detector, Sarstedt, Germany picks up strange sounds

Meanwhile German scientists have been trying to understand why their equipment measuring gravitational waves is picking up strange sounds.

Craig Hogan, professor of astronomy and physics, U.Chicago and director of Fermilab’s Center for Particle Astrophysics in Batavia, Illinois feels GEO600 has stumbled upon the fundamental limit of space-time –- the point where space-time stops behaving like the smooth continuum Einstein described and instead dissolves into ‘grains’, just as a newspaper photograph dissolves into dots as you zoom in.

Prof. Craig Hogan, UChicago and Director of FermiLab

“It looks like GEO600 is being buffeted by the microscopic quantum convulsions of space-time.

“If the GEO600 result is what I suspect it is, then we are all living in a giant cosmic hologram.

“The idea that we live in a hologram probably sounds absurd, but it is a natural extension of our best understanding of black holes, and something with a pretty firm theoretical footing. It has also been surprisingly helpful for physicists wrestling with theories of how the universe works at its most fundamental level.” Craig Hogan, Director FermiLab.

These holograms can be imagined like those on credit cards and banknotes etched on two-dimensional plastic film. When light bounces off them, it recreates the appearance of a 3D image. In the 1990s physicists Leonard Susskind and Nobel prizewinner Gerard ‘t Hooft suggested that the same principle might apply to the universe as a whole, see above and here. These physicists explain that our everyday experience might itself be a holographic projection of physical processes taking place on a distant, 2D surface.

Controversy still surrounds electrical activity powered by our own Sun. Aurora (borealis and australis) are accepted as electromagnetic phenomena occurring at the poles following a solar flare; electrically-charged plasma can knock out power lines and wreak havoc in city distribution grids; but still the person-in-the-street does not look upon the sun as an electromagnetic engine capable of causing seismic disturbance (potentially on a vast scale) on our little terrestrial globe.

All this week Earth inhabitants are being rocked within a huge radiation storm of M-class and X-class flares — an electromagnetically-charged curtain of particles which left the Sun last Friday. Spectacular auorae confirmed NOAA’s Solar and Geomagnetic Field Indicator (right sidebar bottom) flashing Flare/Orange Storm/Red.

SpaceWeather and NASA upgraded their warning to M-9 class flare (threshold X-flare, the largest), since a further CME erupted from the Sun yesterday. Its leading edge hit Earth one hour later and, as it continues through the solar system, it will strike Mars January 25th. This radiation storm comes with a punch. It shot earthwards at 4million mph, much faster than the usual CME, catching up with its predecessor in one day. Some southern US states have suffered electronic failure.

Angel of the North- weekend aurora Tromsø, Norway, photo Bjørn Jørgensen

NASA’s Goddard Space Center is monitoring this particular solar storm carefully as it has a triple payload: electromagnetic radiation is followed by radiation in the form of protons. Then the CME —- plasma from the sun itself — provides the backlash. This makes the geomagnetic field wobble and shake and scatters electromagnetic currents everywhere. It is plasma which can cause electrical grid malfunction. Goddard helio-physicists are following closely as increasing activity confirms the sun’s move from an 11-year solar minimum towards solar maximum expected 2013.

According to Goddard analysts, Friday’s CME strongly compressed Earth’s magnetic field and briefly exposed satellites in geosynchronous orbit to solar wind plasma. Earth’s magnetic field continues to reverberate from the impact, with further buffeting expected. Arctic aurorae have been spectacular.

Still others rebel against the Old Guard, denouncing corrupt rulers. Like the Roman Decline, their Empire is tottering, crashing, while the people feast and fest: bread and circuses; football and Olympic Games.

‘Now that no one buys our votes, the public has long since cast off its cares; the people that once bestowed commands, consulships, legions, and all else, now meddle no more and long eagerly for just two things — bread and circuses’

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION

Esther Hicks continues to bring the Law of Attraction to a mass audience

Among the plethora of New Age guidance and self-help gurus suggesting we listen to our inner voice is Esther Hicks, 64, recently widowed, life-partner of Jerry, soul-partner of ‘Abraham’ — her off-planet/oversoul voice that she shares with millions. Described by some as a ‘channeler’ for Abraham, a group of clearly evolved teachers, speaking their broader non-physical perspective through her physical body, she continues to write, broadcast, and offer workshops on practising the Law of Attraction.

“Contrast helps you identify desire. Desire is summoning. It’s always flowing through you. You have the opportunity to open to the harmony of the vibration of your desire or not. As the desires are being summoned through you, and you go with the flow, you thrive, but if you use things to be your excuse for not going with the flow, you are arguing for your limitations. We want to show you how to go with the flow, which means nothing more than finding vibrational harmony with your own desire, and letting the Universal Energy that your desire is summoning to flow through you. It is optimum creative experience”
— Abraham

She chose to continue her work after her husband Jerry’s death in November 2011, and has a workshop schedule planned — albeit brief — for the winter months touring the southern United States until April. Her bestselling book — The Vortex, 2009 — provides focus for these forays into the human psyche and her hands-on — or spirit-speaking — approach has helped thousands to find their own positive role in life.

“Nothing needs to be fixed. Everything is unfolding perfectly. So when you stand in your now accepting that all is well, then from that vibration, you become surrounded by more and more evidence that all is well. But when you’re convinced that things are broken, that there is pollution, or that things have gone wrong, or that the government is doing conspiracies… then what happens is you get caught up in that vibration, and you begin to manifest that kind of stuff, and then you say, ‘See, I told you that things were going wrong.'” — Abraham

The Law of Attraction says ‘that which is Like unto itself is drawn’ Abraham-Hicks

“When you play the What-If? game, look for things that make you feel better. There is never a situation in which there is not a way out but, out of habit, most people continue to choose the ‘lack’ perspective until they eventually find themselves where it seems that there are no more choices. But as you hold your intention to look for evidence of Wellbeing and thriving and success and happiness, you will tune yourself to the vibrations of those things and so those kinds of good-feeling experiences will dominate your life” — Abraham

The Law of Attraction, a term coined in the first decade of the 20th Century, is a belief which has outlived its proponents in the New Thought and Theosophist movements of the metaphysical community to become a 21st Century byword. The human mind seems incapable of encompassing the totality of the universe in its complexity, so it filters the reality to let in only a miniscule fragment.

What the mind understands becomes one’s fact or reality, and what it doesn’t, does not even exist in one’s world/universe. Forays by the mind out into that infinite source of knowledge-comprehension-belief bring understanding back into the individual’s sphere of experience, i.e. what we think becomes real.

Genuine crop circles — particularly to the cropcircle community who await the 2012 season with bated breath — are extreme examples of this belief system, where during summer months in Britain, and now in several European and American countries, crop formations transmit code for information accessible only by the subconscious mind. Particularly relevant to our train of thought are two crop circles which appeared in succession at Roundway, Wiltshire in July 2011 showing the human ‘feel-good’ centre — the pineal gland which generates melatonin — two days after the same DMT molecule manifested in accurate detail nearby (above). It is common knowledge that spontaneous healings, human warmth and friendship and synchronistic meetings have occurred in crop circles. Roundway, near Devizes is — in electromagnetic terms — seething with cross currents accessible by dowsers and magnetometer readings. Many believe that in addition to their embedded code, designs connect at a subliminal level with our DNA.

Inspirationally, crop circles have had a hold over a large world audience because of the electronic miracle of aerial photography, mostly courtesy CCC and the Silent Circle, with instant rebroadcast over the internet. Within mainstream media (television and radio), the jury is still out.

The crop circle following is comparable with devotees of The Secret (2006), and What the Bleep do we Know (2004) which built on the New Thought Movement theme and brought many new names into the spiritual self-mastery movement, including quantum physicist Gregg Braden and Doctors Joe Vitale, Joe Dispenza, and Deepak Chopra. While Oprah was soaking up television audiencies, these MDs/PhDs were the first cultural phenomenon to bounce off the burgeoning internet. Six years on, within social media — Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+ — such spiritual discussion is commonplace; crop circle excitement quick to spread.

2 pendulums control a pen over a writing surface: Edison's harmonograph drew spirals, ellipses & figures of eight

After the Superstorm of 1859, New England’s ‘tech industry’ at the formative MIT (19thC equivalent of today’s Silicon Valley in California) fostered youthful Thomas Edison’s interest in telegraph technology (with A.Graham Bell’s help) to produce the first ‘harmonic telegraph’.

His ‘harmonograph’ and ‘multiplex transmitter’ were the embryo internet of his day, scratchily etching sounds and rudimentary pictures from an electric signal: a path which changed communications in the western world.

It is tempting to speculate that one of the superstorms of the sun’s impending solar maximum might similarly create (temporarily adverse) conditions which could foster even wilder leaps of imagination in inventors using the medium of light-waves to create previously uncontemplated splendours.

Maxwell, Nikola Tesla, Edison and Einstein would have loved to live now — in the world we take for granted — to flip keys instead of switches to bring rainbow reality into the drabness of their black-and-white world: Maxwell and Einstein to see the Higgs-Boson particle cast doubt on a fixed speed for light; Tesla to discover his rotating electromagnetic field could drive ships to the stars; and for Edison to see that Wall Street still uses a version of his stock-ticker! One wonders how they would view the latest iPod or the ability to speak on Skype.

“The purpose of our journey on this precious Earth is now to align our souls with our personalities: to create harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life; to grow spiritually. This is our new evolutionary pathway. The old pathway — pursuing the ability to manipulate and control — no longer works. It now produces only violence and destruction.” Gary Zukav

Worldwide prophecies, from ‘Heaven-on-Earth’, to Messianic revelation, to the ‘Second Coming’ suggest the signs will appear in the skies. The classical Maya religiously kept watch to document and measure the paths of heavenly bodies as a means of calculating when this New Age would dawn.

This week should give us an inkling whether the signs in the skies are fulfilling prophecy or merely telling us to buckle up for the ride into the Light. Either way, it should be the ride of our lives.

Nuntius dixit: Consciousness Shift, new Belief in Self-Unity ~ & a Solstitial Meditation

December 22, 2011

Aurora Borealis at its height during Earth's buffeting in early December solar storm

We are already well into the Trans-itional Process. Conditions have changed, but we must tell people, as I was told. Few notice this on their own.
Ken Carey, December 2011

This year has spanned twelve months of profound and disorienting changes. Very few of us have escaped.

Now as the year winds down, light hours come to their briefest ebb, the sun comes to a ‘standstill’(sol-stice), everyone is getting those days of feeling ‘not-quite-there’ or half way through and already feeling like a limp rag. It’s called hibernation.

I do believe that solstice week of 2011 is bringing home to so many of us—through emotional experience—a culmination of a yearful of calamaties; a supercluster of supersonic speed changes and a rollercoaster ride into the last days of the December 2011 spiral, as we head into January 2012.

As that Big Number crawls ever closer and we become so focused on its magic aura, perhaps we have not been looking around. We are headed helter-skelter for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Hanukkah…and many proclaim the EndTimes predicted in the Longcount Calendar of the ancient Maya.

But it’s all about LIGHT!

…and just for TODAY (and tomorrow) we are experiencing the shortest days (least light) in the Northern Hemisphere.

After tonight—the longest night—the hours of daylight will once again begin to lengthen; our spirits to strengthen.

It may not feel like it (mid-solitude-meditation or last mad-rush), but it all turns on today’s hinge.

If you are a meditator, if you like to set time aside to contemplate our communal progress, now is a good time. A special meditation is given here by meditator-par-excellence, author of Return of the Bird Tribes, Ken Carey.

It is our strength of spirit which is hovering now—reflected in the horoscope chart below—Great Spirit is checking out the last of our faltering steps, so close on the threshold of thrusting ourselves into that new time.

Riding the evolutionary wave this week—and into the whole first quarter of 2012—consists of feeling—not suppressing—all our deepest darkest fears to the fullest; hanging in there through the tsunami; and then regaining our equilibrium in triumphant glory! We just don’t know how strong we are, until we use a little solar muscle.

The Winter Solstice and Galactic Center

Coincidentally at this time of year, the Sun, Moon, Earth and all planets of the solar system come into closest proximity and alignment with our nearest parent galaxy—the Milky Way—whose motherly arm extends out to us from the ‘kink’ in the middle of her trailing gown of starfields. The kink at Galactic Center has been beckoning us in cycles since 1983 and we have one more cycle in this great Cosmic Calculation to go…till December solstice 2012 rendezvous with that great energy point, see Cosmic Birth Canal.

Winter Solstice occurs when the Sun is at its most southerly declination of -23.5º in the Northern hemisphere during the shortest day of the year. The sun is directly overhead on the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern hemisphere at that solstice, and is the longest day of the year for those living south of the Tropic of Capricorn.

This solstice week four major planets are also visible together in the evening (south-to-western) sky in the Northern hemisphere: from left to right: Jupiter (high in South), Uranus, Neptune and Venus (low in West),

And if you get up early tomorrow morning you will see the rest of the planets lined up in spectacular array in the pre-dawn sky: Mercury, the Moon, Saturn and Mars.

In the background are three of the brightest stars in the night sky: Arcturus, Regulus (Leo), and Spica (Virgo).

“Predicted long ago by civilizations such as the Yucatan Peninsular Maya, the winter solstice of the year AD 2011 is to see the culmination of many smaller cycles in the evolution of consciousness.” Ken Carey December 2011

The special days and nights right before the Winter Solstice and immediately afterward, are the most mystical time of the year, an opportunity for human hibernation of sorts: time available for us to meditate for hours during this time. It is good for us.

Solstice is a time to enter into deep contemplation—to imagine how our personal creations assist others and the planet—a time to divest and release old burdens.

“Powerful cosmic currents of transformational forces are engulfing our planet, our solar system, and in fact our entire galactic arm as we are about to initiate a new Great Cycle of Evolution. Predicted long ago by civilizations such as the Yucatan Peninsular Maya, the winter solstice of the year AD2011 is to see the culmination of many smaller cycles in the evolution of consciousness.” Ken Carey December 2011

Ken Carey's Return of the Bird Tribes, 1991

Ken Carey, long-dormant author of the Starseed Trilogy, Vision, and Return of the Bird Tribes has resurfaced during 2011 after near-seclusion since publishing his seminal works (1979-91).

He has come out of a twenty-year period of hiberation to make some revelationary announcements: he takes this new time by the shoulders and shakes it: Unlike others who have been worried that an earth-pole reversal is possible, he suggests that the ‘reversal’ is a “shift in ourselves”.

“Simply put, the polarity reversal has started consciously moving us toward a mental state where we think about God more than ourselves, a state where we find ourselves looking around the natural world, wondering who the heck thought all this stuff up, who created it, and why. Even now, if we meditate and refuse to let fear automatically make our decisions, we soon find ourselves caught up in a sort of treasure hunt so intriguing and fascinating that it actually becomes hard not to think about it!”

Ms Clow is also a believer that at culmination of the Mayan Calendar (Calleman version October 28), this is the first Winter Solstice since completion of our long evolutionary journey into Oneness; surely, she thinks, this tipping point is significant.

Barbara Hand Clow is, as always, outspoken:
“The Winter Solstice is the time to be brutally honest and evaluate whether our ideas enhance others or whether they may actually be detrimental for evolution. A sweet elixir of knowing comes the day of the Winter Solstice when the light begins to return, and each one of us can put greater realities above our personal desires. Chart detail below*.

Ken Carey provides us with a guided meditation for this especial time—a time which is beneficial for us all to slip out of our ‘cultural’ role and reconnect with our “five-minute path to God“.

He also believes we are due to meet our Maker in the truest sense of all indigenous belief in becoming absorbed by the One, the Divine, the Nagual. Many have already made the connection, but now there are opportunities for the new initiates, the newbie-wannabe-souls to join together too. He calls it our “moment of non-time” when we experience this oneness with Spirit for the first time.

For many of us, that experience is long overdue.

He calls it in his ‘spoof alert’—a preparation for meeting in that nanosecond of non-time:

The Kink in the Milky Way --galactic center where we rendezvous each year at winter solstice

SPOOF ALERT
It has become clear to me that we all live in the middle of the Galaxy. I noticed that we had chosen to exist in a moderately populated arm of our spiraling galaxy, and that our galaxy was right there in a moderately populated part of the universe. There’s nobody out there on the rim of Zero, and, as much as we hate to admit it, we get lonely, so we all huddle in the middle. I translated what I felt, intuited, perceived, heard, into the all-encompassing visual word, “saw.”
And I saw that the pinhead in the middle of the our sacred circle wasn’t just us humans, but was, in fact, all the stars, galaxies—electrons, subatomic particles right up alongside the reddest of the largest giant stars. The restlessness of the pioneer spirited particle/waves had chosen to settle and explore the outskirts, the Unnamed Lands of which nothing was known. But the little ones, not knowing they were leaders, grew uncomfortable. They wanted some names, even just a few, but the further out they went, there was nothing there, even the ether was as sparse as a desert’s watering holes.
They wanted to turn back, the very smallest of the smallest, which we haven’t detected yet, made the decision. They all came to a full stop. Utterly STILL they were, utterly still. And the outermost rim of The Circle quivered, all 360 degrees simultaneously. For a nanosecond—I’ve certainly come at a good TIME, I thought—the whole thing blinked off and on, everything: the hypothetical circle and its creative contents, everything that is named, and everything that has no name.”

His full meditation is linked here.

CAREY Handholds along the precipice

His final words give inspiration, consistently encouraging:
Do you want to know a secret?  “Bringing you here, into this awareness, was the goal of all the words that flowed since this meditation began.  Hopefully you have heard few of these words, hopefully you’ll remember fewer still, the mantra of their drone drew you through your own passages, tunnels, alleyways, skyways and caves.  You can always read these words later.  But heard spoken aloud, as I now think they should be the first time, these words were given you to remind you only of the general direction by which you will one day soon easily drift home.

“Yes,  you have only climbed a spiritual ladder of which the words were but steps to a higher frequency.  When others have drawn you back into the dominant cultural mythology, they may come in handy.  But you no longer need them now.  Now you are centred in God, in your deepest and truest level of being.  Now you have become wholly yourself

Once you reach the stratosphere, there's no need to pull the ladder up after yourself...

“Once you are on the roof, you don’t need to haul the ladder up behind you.  It has served God’s purpose, so you move on.

Your growing number of friends with whom you can discuss this, and meditate together again and again into this awareness will so increase your joy.

You find it much easier than you have in the past to practice staying in this consciousness.  Others will follow, and the flow will continue.

M31 Andromeda spiral Galaxy, nearest galaxy to our own Milky Way at 2.5million light years distant

“Today could be the arrival, yes, the arrival of God, but also the arrival of spirit beings and angels far more numerous than the human race.  They have been training too for these past 5,125 years.  Many have been assigned to you and guiding you since birth.  That is why you have found these words, these steps of a ladder you will soon leave behind.” ©KenCarey, December 2011

… and the astrological small print
Because solstice sun is followed by Capricorn New Moon on December 24th (Christmas Eve) chart aspects are given below.

*Clow Chart detail
The reading for the Sagittarius (Sag) New Moon noted that the wild December 10 Gemini lunar eclipse (the fulfillment of the Sag New Moon) would be intense because Uranus went direct at 0 Aries. This combination seems to have shredded patriarchal financial resistance to supporting fairness with money because the Euro nations were forced to come to an agreement based on greater sharing. In the reading for the New Moon in Sag, which featured a wonderful grand trine in the earth element-Mars in Virgo trine Pluto in Capricorn trine Jupiter in Taurus-we noted “(the grand trine) suggests the world financial structures will not collapse totally because unexpected levels of support arrive that ease the transition into more fairness and equality.” B H Clow, November 2011

This year’s Winter Solstice chart has almost all the planets situated in deep resonance with each other, and intriguingly, the god of war, Mars, is not part of this harmonic dance. Mars has no aspects to the other luminaries, so he looms like a Watcher in the sky hoping the shift can liberate him to be mostly a god of personal power instead of merely the god of war. We are witnessing a sign of the coming times. At the Solstice, the Sun moves into Capricorn, close to the Galactic Center and also conjuncts Pluto; trines Jupiter in Taurus; squares newly direct Uranus in Aries; sextiles Chiron/Neptune; and sextiles Saturn.

This aspect will continue throughout the winter months.

The sextiles to the Sun from Chiron, Neptune, and Saturn encourage us to adopt deep ways of wisdom and healing, instead of frittering away our resources and creativity. These aspects are all very close, so their intermingling patterns tell a story of remarkable change that is opening space for new patterns throughout humanity.

“Our world is like a re-tooled factory that is ready to spit out new models”

She believes these aspects to the Solstice Sun are game changers that allow each one of us to look at the world in entirely new ways.

Carey is holding out open arms to all who would step with him into the new reality of ‘God-centering‘. Both with his shared meditation and in his new blog where he welcomes readers old and new to his wisdom.

Galactic Underworld and Venus Rising

December 5, 2010

Venus's Heliacal Rising, November 2010: her return from the Underworld

Something in between dreaming and doing
Something arching down from there to here
We are the arching
We are neither here nor there
We are the hope that lives between
The continual blooming outward and upward
of something we want
but cannot see

– Author unknown

On winter solstice this year, December 21st, the longest night in the northern hemisphere will be graced not only by a full moon but a total lunar eclipse at 8:14am GMT — 00:14am Pacific time.

It is a cosmic sign, a prelude to our annual rendezvous with Galactic Center — that dark patch in the Milky Way — when the Sun, including us, microscopic specks of energy clinging on to the plane of the ecliptic, all nine planets of our system as one, align with our Motherboard, the Creator-black-hole, call it what you will, in the middle of our Galaxy. Then, spiralling away one more time, we shall head off for another year of peripatetic searching through infinite realms of space until, two years from now, we return for that Great Meeting with Source prior to winter solstice 2012.

The Ancients always took note of appearances like this solstitial eclipse as they occurred at the cardinal points of the year (later on the same day, the Sun enters zodiac sign of Capricorn). In our 21st century world, I am not alone in thinking this heavenly sign — the apparent total annihilation of the moon’s disc — will probably go relatively unnoticed. Western minds filled with Christmas concerns, getting the car to start or catching the commute to work in snowy conditions, tend not to be looking skywards.

For the Maya, on the other hand, Mesoamerican life in the 9th century and later was an ongoing succession of cosmic appearances. They came in time cycles, each with a predictable quality. And their fascination with the night sky, like many prehistoric and classical cultures, allowed them to develop a deep knowledge of time which dwarfs our numerical western (Gregorian) system.

Time was seen as an evolution of human consciousness, split into Great Ages through which society would evolve. The Maya developed separate calendars for mathematical, ritual and functional purposes, but the great Long Count calendar which began in 3114BC and which comes full circle on winter solstice year-after-next is the one which has caught hold in our collective imagination as presaging the ‘End of Days‘.

For the Maya as well as for many other Ancients, celestial movement was at the root of astrology, theology, cosmology, history and social change. For them, the purpose of life was to understand sky rhythms that created time and to reflect in their culture the beauty and cosmic order seen in cyclical heavenly repetition.

‘It becomes clear….that the Maya always expected history to repeat itself’
Bruce Scofield, Signs of Time (1997)

Kukulkan, feathered serpent god of the Maya, Toltec and Aztec (Quetzalcoatl)

The Tzolkin, which is the oldest Mayan Calendar, repeats itself every nine months. The Long Count calendar’s 5124-year cycle with its so-callled end date of December 21, 2012 actually measures the precession of the equinoxes, the sun’s apparent motion through each of the twelve zodiac signs once in 25,920 years, but theoretically stretches to infinity. To give an idea of this precession cycle’s massive scale, it takes the Earth 72 years to move through one degree (1º/360º) of one zodiac sign.

West Acropolis of Yaxchilan (Maya: 'Green Stones') in Mexican state of Chiapas

There are carvings on the walls of a ruin at Palenque that give dates beyond AD4000. It is our modern short-sightedness that assumes, based on only one of the several Mayan calendars, that time stops at winter solstice, December 21st 2012. It is specifically this ending and new beginning chronicled in the Long Count Calendar which in New Age parlance is called the ‘dawning of the Age of Aquarius‘.

Documentation of this extremely long cycle was an amazing achievement for a culture whose belief in cycles of time had them keep astronomical records for 6000 generations, projecting forward and (20,000 years back) into a distant past. It is evident in the placement of some of their most sacred buildings that they saw purpose in heavenly movement.

Cosmology and religious icons were intimately intertwined.

While several pyramids and ballcourts at Tikal, Palenque and Chichen Itza are sited on extreme sun positions (solstices, equinoxes), the Governor’s Palace at Uxmal is precisely aligned to view the heliacal rising of Venus at its southernmost point in an 8-year cycle.

Whereas Megalithic and Egyptian complexes can sometimes be obscure or difficult to understand from our modern non-sky-viewing cultural perspective, (Newgrange and Stonehenge heelstone aligned on solstice sunrise, Aberdeenshire recumbent stone circles aligned on midwinter sunrise and midsummer moonset), the writings and hieroglyphs of the Maya are more easily understood as they can be compared easily with recent calculations of the same recorded astronomical cycles.

The ancient Maya left codices, systems of hieroglyphic recordings devised to include celestial sightings and predict events. The complexity with which these sightings and predictions are woven seamlessly into their entire culture is almost surreal.

Dresden Codex fragment, water-damaged in WWII, restored: shows Lunar series and Venus tables

One of these codices, the ‘Dresden Codex’ details an elaborate recreation of a cosmic environment which the ancient Maya believed regulated life. It contains an illuminated calendar recording observations of the planet Venus. Working with their solar Haab calendar and the separate sacred ritual Tzolkin, the Maya saw the heliacal rising of Venus, (Venus rising before the sun, visible in the east as a ‘morning star’) as a sign of resurrection of Light after Darkness, rebirth of a New Age. But its resurrection might also be seen as presaging evil, invoking wars, sparking conflict.

In Mayan mythology, the planet/goddess was inextricably linked with the sun and power of serpent god Kukulkan –his name means ‘one who emerges from the serpent-spirit’ or cosmic kundalini force. To the Maya the two bodies seemed conjoined, stand close to each other in the sky, never stray more than 47º apart.

Lamat: glyph for Venus as 'evening star'

Venus either follows the sun (when she appears as evening ‘star’, Lamat), hides behind the sun, descending into the Underworld, or reappears before the sun — her heliacal rising as a ‘morning star’, Ah-Chicum-Ek’. Seen in mythological context, their joining symbolized at times his masculine domination over female-desire-sexuality producing cultural balance, art and architectural beauty; at others (when she rides into the Underworld — below the horizon) her ability to wreak havoc on society. This warrior-goddess aspect of her femininity is not easily understood in our modern rush for ‘male’ pursuits in business, military dominion and political power. But it is this aspect of Venus which lingers in mythology and which is the natural, intuitive deep feminine of the mother consciousness which early patrilineal cultures (Hellenist Greece, Latin Rome, Judaism, pharaonic Egypt) wished to suppress. In examining the Venus cycles — particularly as they relate to upcoming 2012 date — we may be delightfully surprised to learn something ‘new’ which is very old.

According to observations made by the Maya, episodes of upheaval linked to the cyclical motion of the planet Venus play out as life-changing events.

Venus’s astronomical cycles are legendary.

Fascinated with sequences, periodicity and numbers, the Maya must have adored Venus. Not only does she disappear and reappear with amazing regularity, her luminescence is also measurable, on some clear nights actually capable of casting a shadow. They noticed that Venus travels faster round the sun than Earth, orbiting 2.6 times to Earth’s 1.6 orbits. Venus orbits the Sun 13 times in 8 years, passing between Earth and Sun 5 times until they return to that meeting point in the synodic cycle (synod = meeting place). Point of closest ‘meeting’ is called ‘inferior conjunction’, taken as the start of the cycle.

It is also when Venus cannot be seen from Earth because of the sun’s brilliance, but as she continues to orbit, not only does she appear to go into ‘retrograde’ motion — a phenomenon caused by both bodies in orbit passing each other at different speeds — but she suddenly becomes visible again at greatest brilliance. Five Venus cycles of 548 days exactly equals 8 Earth cycles of 365 days — 8 Earth years — to bring both planets back in line to synodic point. When Venus is on the opposite side of the Sun its position is called ‘superior conjunction’ and has weakest brilliance. In between Venus appears to stretch to ‘extreme elongation’ to either side of Earth. The Maya also noticed Venus’s ‘stages’ took exactly 36 days, or multiples of 36.

So, Venus reaches maximum brightness 36 days after inferior conjunction, traveling direct and in the morning sky; maximum elongation (Venus’s farthest distance from the Sun) occurs 36 days later; then at superior conjunction, 216 days after that (6 x 36 days) Venus is on the far side of the Sun and traveling at its fastest speed, about 1º15′ per day, but obscured by the Sun from Earth eyes. Thirty-six days after superior conjunction, when the Sun and Venus are about 10º zodiac degrees apart, Venus first appears in the evening sky, setting after the Sun. In evening star phase, maximum elongation happens 216 days after superior conjunction, with maximum brightness reached 36 days following maximum elongation; 36 days more bring her back to inferior conjunction (and retrograde motion). This calculable sky embrace between Venus and the Sun, their apparent duel for supremacy in brilliance, disappearing into the ‘Underworld’ and reappearance in reborn brilliance, must have delighted the Maya.

Venus's orbit and Earth's over an eight year cycle

Not only did they know every nuance of Venus’s synchronicty with Earth, but they figured that in a complete cycle of 8 years the two planets did a dance round the zodiac (and the Sun) which resembled a sacred pentagram. Some of their written motifs reflect this knowledge. It is no surprise, then, that they also knew when Venus made a double transit of the Sun, a phenomenon that occurs less than once per century.

To bring their supreme, detailed and laborious calculations into modern context, it is synchronous that in 2012, there will be two profound solar eclipses and a rare ‘transit of Venus’ on June 6th, when Venus will pass directly in front of the Sun from our Earth perspective. It forms a perfect alignment of Earth, Venus and Sun. Transits come in 8-year pairs, with the precursor to this transit seen in June 2004. Transits of Venus happen on average only twice every 121 years. The last transit of Venus occurred in 1874 and 1882, around the time of rediscovery of ancient Mayan sacred sites. The 2012 Venus transit completes the pair and the phenomenon will not recur until 2117 and 2125.

Their solar calculations are renowned, too, with a system of years split to reflect numbers 13 and 20 still used by present-day Maya and many devotees.

A prophecy is attached to each of the twenty year Katun cycles. Each cycle starts on the day of the Ancestors, Ajpu or Ahau as Ancestors are known to the Yucatec Maya. The first 20-year cycle starts with 11 Ahau.

The present cycle (see Underworlds, below) starting on a 4 Ahau date began in 1999 and completes in 2012.

The Maya thought this katun brought scarcity and the arrival of great leaders. It is also the katun of remembering knowledge and writing it down.

4 Ahau: Food scarcities. Half the katun good, half bad. The return of Kukulkan

Kukulkan, depicted in the ancient Classical period as Divine Serpent, at Maya city Yaxchilan, modern Mexico

Legend of Kukulkan, Plumed Serpent god of the Maya, shares prophecy with the Aztec legend of Quetzalcoatl, known as Feathered Serpent, god of intelligence and self-reflection.

Serpent god Kukulkan in more recent Maya tradition

In the Mayan version of the legend the king and his court had descended into weakness and debauchery. He decided to redeem himself by sailing out into the ocean alone on a flaming boat. The gods forgave him and he was reborn. He came back to the Maya on a vessel from ‘across the waters’.

This Katun prediction implies that a great hero will come from across the waters to heal the problems of the people. It was during one of the 4 Ahau time periods, between 1480 and 1500 that Christopher Columbus came to the continent of the Americas from across the waters.

Chichen Itza
Although Kukulkan was mentioned as an historical person by Maya writers of the 16th century, earlier 9th century texts at Chichen Itza do not identify him as human and instead artistic representations depict him as a Vision Serpent entwined around figures of presiding priests. Chichen Itza’s famous step pyramid, El Castillo, shows Kukulkan depicted presiding over sacrifice, but the magnificent pyramid

Serpent god seen undulating down the staircase on fall Equinox at Chichen Itza

is most famous for his serpentine ‘appearance’ via the sun, which on the equinoxes (March 21, September 23) casts a serpent shadow that descends the steps of the famous pyramid’s north side in the late afternoon before fall equinoctial sunset and ascends its serpentine undulation prior to spring equinox sunset.

The living Maya still hold ceremony to celebrate equinox.

At autumn equinox this year Carl Johan Calleman called for a convergence to prepare ourselves for Unity Consciousness, our renewal as a species.

As the seventh day of the Galactic Underworld is activated we will actually finally come to a point when it is time to celebrate the end to male, western and rational dominance and to create a balance between the different aspects of the human mind associated with the left and right brain halves
Carl Johan Calleman

He suggested that, beginning November 3-7, 2010 (‘Yellow Galactic Seed’ Tzolkin date) careful contemplation of the Shift of the Ages and an awareness of our position in affecting the way we move forward will facilitate the dawning of the last step in our evolution. Seeing all of Creation from 3114BC divided into nine ‘Underworlds’ of ever-decreasing length, Dr Calleman (and others) agree with Mayan calculation that in that week in November we emerged from the last ‘night’ of the penultimate phase –the eighth Galactic Underworld which began January 1999, consisting of a wave-cycle of six fluctuating ‘days’ and ‘nights’– and that we now stand in the seventh ‘day’ of that wave, preparing to enter the final Universal Underworld, the Ninth Wave, in February next year. That is only two months from now. In that final cycle of existence, according to the Maya — and to thousands of believers of other faiths around the world — we are capable of manifesting ‘one thousand years of peace and harmony’ on our shared planet.

On that weekend of Yellow Galactic Seed in November — coincidentally when Venus’s heliacal rising returned her to our skies as an ‘morning star’, the leaders of nations representing East and West on Earth held separate but spiritually-cohesive celebrations and ceremonies to invoke peace on earth and a joining of minds. In the West, Don Alejandro Oxlaj, 13th Generation Quiche Mayan High Priest — ‘Wandering Wolf’ — and Buddhist spiritual leader of the Orient, Seiyu Kiriyama, joined their flocks in mutual meditation, flooding the airwaves and ethers with positive affirmation. Calleman saw this not only as the meeting of West and East but a mingling of the feminine, intuitive right-brain half of humanity with the masculine, rational left-brain side.

Unity Consciousness. Our ‘Awakening’.

New Age philosophy and astrology support a path to ascension required of its vision-keepers, lightworkers (through meditation and right living) as a process of uniting these two conflicting polarities, emphasizing the need to bring harmony to the male-female yin-yang, left and right brain hemispheres which must operate before the Earth may return to a balanced state of wholeness and oneness.

As a small postscript, or just to keep us on our toes, Mayan Elder Don Alejandro has suggested that shortly after the solar system’s 2012 re-alignment with Galactic Center — when our sun and all planets are conjunct the dark ridge in the middle of our Galaxy, the Milky Way —

Earth will “pass inside the center of a magnetic axis and that it may be darkened with a great cloud for 60 to 70 hours”
Don Alejandro Oxlaj

To some Mayan scholars, in a continuing calendar the doom-and-gloom scenario is far more likely to play itself out, not in 2012, but around the year 2032.

Several other events are in the lineup for 2012:
May 4 partial lunar eclipse off Mexico
May 14 1st standstill Venus during retrograde loop
May 20 annular eclipse of Sun
June 6 transit of Venus (above) and Inferior Conjunction
November 13 2012 total solar eclipse in which sun and moon align with head of the Serpent (constellation Serpens)
November 18 Solar system conjunct dark ridge Galactic Center
Nov 28 partial (penumbral) lunar eclipse

We know our future is in our own hands. This is seen by believers with faith in Man’s ability to transcend his inglorious past as positive, glorious rebirth, awakening, resurrection of our soul, our apotheosis, potential to become one with the gods. The opposite is also true –especially if we continue to contribute to the misuse of energy, pollute and dissipate earthly gifts.

As we know, cycles exist to show choices in the Path: overall the future is golden. Venus’s malevolence may only be a wayshower to direct us away from a mistaken ‘Way’. The future, in the form of the Ninth Wave, is upon us — all the heavenly signs say so — and it’s up to us to embrace it.

The Pyramid Parallax: Light, Electricity & Music of the Spheres

Ra worship: following the sun on the Giza plateau

Any technology beyond our own would seem like magic to us Arthur C. Clarke

Recent discoveries emerging from Egypt suggest the existence in prehistory of a world-wide pyramid/sacred temple system, mounted like antennae on key earth energy meridians which were used by ancient priest-scientists as an electrical system; as a network to produce healing sound frequencies; or even in times of emergency, to stabilize the tectonic plates of the planet by means of harmonics.

Modern engineers are familiar with the properties of quartz (oscillating frequencies in electronics; timepieces all rely on quartz crystal) and that the flow of water through chalk (limestone, calcium carbonate) can replicate the flow of electricity like current from a battery.

It is well known that the chalk aquifer of the Wiltshire basin and neighboring Oxfordshire acts as one of the world’s best conductors of electricity, and that megalithic sites like Stonehenge, Avebury, Rollright and Silbury Hill show detectable rises in electromagnetic radiation within their precincts, when compared with much lower ‘background’ radiation outside. Quartz inclusions in stone circles allowed them to act as energy storage devices.

Silbury Hill itself is a giant chalk pyramid, the highest manmade mound in Europe. Under certain conditions it acts as a huge quartz crystal radiating energy outwards from its core.

Both limestone and granite have electrical qualities. Granite is slightly radioactive and has the ability to ionize or electrify the air. It releases radon gas which has a radioactive charge. In Wiltshire the underlying limestone — holding water or allowing it to flow — floods during summer thunderstorms and then dwindles as it drains into rivers. Silbury Hill, which has a measureable charge, and stone circles like Rollright, Stonehenge and Avebury all produce radiation — particularly at sunrise — when sunlight acts on the electrical energy stored in the stones and converts it to ultrasound.

And over the last thirty years or so — more concentrated in the last twenty — we have noticed this unique electromagnetic landscape being used for some other remarkable transmissions through space and time, using a technology which is far beyond anything we have today in common usage, and it’s been happening approximately fifty times each summer across southern England, continental Europe and sporadically in other locations where there is proximity to a sacred ancestral place of ritual/worship: the crop circle phenomenon.

Physicists, engineers and other scientists agree that telluric energy is a natural consequence of certain combinations of geology and water flow. It seems our ancestors knew this and were much more advanced than we give them credit for — that perhaps we modern souls with access to almost limitless technological resources may have a few lessons to learn in order to catch up.

For instance between 1977-83 Dr Don Robins and the Dragon Project via London’s Institute of Archaeology, with support from the Getty Institute, measured electrical and ultrasound emissions at Rollright, Oxon. Robins’s results, compiled in a hasty publication, Circles of Silence (1985 )* were remarkable. The sun had a clear effect on electromagnetic stimulation and resonance within the circle.

John Burke, a biological engineer from Boston University has measured before and after thunderstorms in Wiltshire, at Silbury, at Tikal in Mexico and on the Giza plateau above the Nile whose annual inundation is legendary. According to him, this aqueous fluctuation process produces a measurable change in the magnetic field.

‘The rising and falling of the Nile at Giza each year produces a constant flowing of water through layers of limestone which generates an electrical charge which generates an electric current which generates a magnetic field. So if you wanted to boost a charge to a monument, it would make sense to have running water nearby.’

At Tikal, the great stone terraces under the pyramid were constructed to allow water to flow down giant steps in two separate streams around the pyramid. Because water flowing in neighboring parallel streams sets up a current, it is likely the Maya used the resulting electrical charge for purposes of ritual celebration.

Current thinking in the archaeo-engineering field suggests that the megalith builders were aware of such electromagnetic currents; how the strength or weakness of solar radiation affected them; and that they built their sacred sites to amplify them.

Burke believes these structures were placed in areas where unusual geology naturally concentrates electromagnetic energy – that EM energy is amplified by geological surroundings. Sometimes — where these lines of energy cross — they generate electrical currents in the land.

When the megalithic builders designed these great structures & then built them, in such a way as to further concentrate those earth energies, it suggests they understood what they were doing and it looks as if they were attempting to control and use this energy for their own purposes. John Burke, Biological Engineer, BU

‘Certain types of geology will magnify that earth energy several-fold. In a
place where one area of ground which has a good ability to conduct electricity meets another area which has a lesser ablity to conduct these currents, it creates a charge — it’s called conductivity discontinuity. Also most dramatic change in magnetic strength per hour happens in the pre-dawn hours and wherever you get a change in magnetic field occurring, it generates electricity. It’s a basic/universal physics principle called induction. In the Egyptian desert temples were often built where these lines intersect. It opens up a whole new area of sacred science. Sacred sites were chosen carefully, and precisely where pyramids were constructed the suspicion arises that they understood much more about this stuff than we do. And they were using it for their engineering.’

Earth’s geomagnetic field is strongest when receiving sunlight during the day, weakest at night, when it’s dark. The Sun’s rays constantly fall on some part of the planet as it spins and this motion itself creates an electromagnetic ‘dynamo’.

Burke explains key times to experience the phenomenon are pre-dawn because the fluctuation of energy originating in daily changes in the Earth’s geomagnetic field are then at their most dramatic. At this time the weaker field lines now come roaring back to close to full strength very quickly over a short period — as the sun rises and brings light/heat to the earth.

Dr Carmen Boulter of University of Calgary says looking through our own cultural eyes blinkers us from seeing the sophistication of megalithic and pyramid function.

‘We don’t have the technology to build a pyramid now – we’re not even close. We don’t move blocks of 300-ton stone. We’re not the most evolved we’ve ever been. That is one of the blinders that stops us from imagining what they (Egyptian technology) were capable of’
Dr Carmen Boulter, Egyptian Archetypes professor, UCalgary

‘Because we’ve been taught the ancient Egyptians had only copper tools and simple pulley systems — that their technology was primitive — we’re not looking there (Giza and pyramid plateaux) for higher level technology.’

The existence of telluric/geomantic energy has long been supported by dowsers and others sensitive to its power. Sometimes known as ley lines, they are seen as bands of energy running between megalithic sites. Most famous in England is the St Michael Ley which runs from Land’s End, Cornwall through Glastonbury Tor, Avebury/Silbury and ends on the Norfolk/Suffolk county border on the east coast. It was traditionally used as a ‘pilgrim’s way’ for Christian devotion, superimposed on a far older sacred pilgrimage route.

John Michell, renowned telluric energy guru, mystic and author of 40 books including New View over Atlantis (Thames and Hudson 1983) died last year. In his busy life (Eton and Trinity, Cambridge, linguist and Russian translator, inspiration for Fortean Times), he was seen as the founding father of the Earth Mysteries movement in England. A recurring theme in Michell’s work, from City of Revelation to The Measure of Albion, is of universal truths codified in nature and continually being rediscovered from ancient times up to the present day.

‘At Glastonbury in the same alignment the pilgrims’ path still runs right along the edge of the tor, and at Avebury the line exactly coincides for over three miles with what is now the main road to Devizes from the southern entrance of the stone circle…’ John Michell

The other (south-north) line intersecting at Glastonbury starts at Carnac in Brittany, cuts through Derbyshire’s all-quartz stone circle Arbor Low in the White Peak District (carboniferous limestone), and continues to Aberdeenshire’s 20-foot high (granite) Memsie Cairn at Fraserburgh and on to Orkney’s famous 26-ft high Maes Howe mound.

Singing Stones

After 27BC earthquake, Luxor's northern Colossus of Memnon sang again at sunrise until AD199 when Roman Emperor Septimius Severus had broken torso replaced. Roman limestone silenced the moan

Greek geographer Strabo, writing in the early years of the 1st century, tells of the 27 BC earthquake that shattered the northern quartz Colossus of Memnon at Thebes, collapsing it from the waist up. Following its rupture, this statue was able to ‘sing’ again as it had every morning at dawn since its original construction by Amenhotep III in 14th centuryBC. The dual colossi were originally created in 1350 BC by this powerful pharaoh to flank the eastern entrance to his devotional temple at ancient Thebes on the west bank of the Nile opposite modern Luxor. In historic times, Roman engineers, thinking to rescue the images from flooding which threatened the ground on which the temple stood, transported the two 60ft statues to their present site and in so doing silenced the singing effigies of the pharaoh. They also tried to patch the broken torso but their engineering attempts failed. The statues now stand out of alignment. They no longer face directly into the sun at dawn, which was Amenhotep’s original intention. At his Theban temple — open to his people to serve their daily devotion to him as a living god, his priestly calculations had the temple portals with these flanking Colossi face due East to capture the moment of sunrise. The Rising of sun-god Ra triggered a devotional sound in the stone, its ringing amplified through the temple which would have caused the whole foundation to vibrate. This would be seen as the Pharaoh’s own superhuman magic, his god-like ability (as Ba-Ra, son of the Sun) to harness the power of the sun.

Colossi of Memnon at Dawn by David Roberts, 1840

Little remains of Amenhotep III‘s temple in Thebes and the quartz torso replaced by substandard sandstone during Roman engineering rescue attempts was never found. Strabo heard it sing when he visited in 20BC. Both Greeks and Romans were drawn to its supposed oracular ability to voice and believed that good fortune attended anyone hearing the tone. The Greeks fondly dubbed them Colossi of Memnon, after their hero of the Trojan war and referred to the entire Theban Necropolis as the Memnonium. It was 14thC BC Egyptian technology, however, that produced the whistling moaning sound from hewn quartzite sandstone quarried at Cairo and transported 420 miles upstream to Thebes to face the sun at the temple entrance, due east, knowing of the sun’s ability to transmute quartzite crystals so that they emit sound as the sun’s disk rose at dawn. Not only did Amenhotep create a portal for the first light of day to penetrate his temple, but in its rising the Sun triggered a sacred hum of healing sound.

The legend of the voicing Memnon’s oracular powers spread through Aegean, Mediterranean and Roman culture — the length of the then known world — bringing a stream of visitors, followers, Roman Emperors, generals and Greek historians, who came to marvel and hear the statue ‘speak’. But mysterious vocalizations of the broken colossus ceased in AD199, when Roman Emperor Septimius Severus, in an attempt to curry favour with the Oracle, reassembled the two shattered halves, using stone from a different limestone quarry to replace the broken torso. It never spoke again.

Giza pyramids built as a scale model of Orion's belt

It is now scientific probability that similar sonic and electrical qualities were harnessed by earlier pharaohs in deliberate siting of Old Kingdom pyramids: the Giza plateau in particular is singled out for resonance and its dramatic ability to capture solar fluctuations. It is no coincidence that those three quartzite pyramids set on their limestone plateau are built on an exact scale representation of three stars in Orion’s belt, Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka. Other pyramid complexes in the riverine Band of Peace mirror star positions: on a celestial ‘landscape’ with Orion’s belt at Giza, Heliopolis (in the south) reflects the constellation Leo (sphinx god) and Abusir in the north represents the Pleiades star cluster over Orion’s head. Scale was calculated with remarkable accuracy. This earthly triangle of energy mirroring three celestial clusters in a heavenly triangle helped keep track of Sothis/Sirius, the Dog Star in the middle and brightest star in the night sky, whose reappearance after 70 days of invisibility below the Egyptian horizon was cause for celebration — coinciding with the annual inundation of the Nile, return of fertility, plentiful water, abundant food supply.

Today's technology outshone by the Ancients'

Indigenous wisdom-keeper and Egyptian Elder Abd’El Hakim Awyan, who died in 2009, firmly believed in his ancestors’ powers to manipulate electromagnetic currents and conduit solar forces to produce technology greater than we have today.

At Saqqara, in Old Kingdom capital Memphis, the House of the Spirit at the base of the Step Pyramid of Djozer (2667-2648 BC) was a place of healing sound. Chambers in this temple were harmonically tuned to different frequencies, creating huge fields of harmonic resonance, just as later Gothic cathedrals filled sacred geometry with sound.

The Giza plateau is solid chalk and all three pyramids, ’15 million tons of quarried stone’ (built by 4th Dynasty rulers Khufu, 2589-2566BC, his son Khefren, 2520-2494, and his grandson Menkhare, 2490-2472) were constructed of limestone, two with a granite casing and pink Aswan granite interior, while the largest/earliest, the Great Pyramid, most significantly consisted of dolomite: carboniferous limestone with a high magnesium content. It also has interior galleries lined with granite. Its final outer layer was coated with limestone dust so smooth that it glistened and gleamed white in the sun. All were sited to witness sunrise at both summer and winter solstices.

John Burke’s electrical analogy expands. He suggests that perhaps the Great Pyramid –maybe all three pyramids on the plateau — were deliberately built for a light show, a demonstration of the work of the gods in action.

The Great Pyramid was constructed of magnesium-rich dolomite with a core of granite-lined galleries or tubes which ran from underground aquifers up through the pyramid to its highest gallery at the peak. Its final outer coating was a thick membrane of calcium carbonate, essentially an insulator. ‘This combination gives you a highly electrical conductive core wrapped in a perfect insulator. I asked myself why granite should be used for the tunnels.

‘Granite is slightly radioactive and it will ionize or electrify the air. So was their purpose to keep the tunnels electrically charged?

‘If you ran a copper wire from limestone layers in the aquifer up through the tunnels in the pyramid to the opening at the top, it would become electrically charged. You could light a lightbulb by it today. So did they use the same mechanism to make the pyramid into a light source?’ he wonders.

‘You get a concentration of negative charge below ground, a concentration of positive charge above it and if they become strong enough you begin to get what’s called a flush discharge – A GLOW’

That’s John Burke’s theory. So, did the Great Pyramid glow in the dark?

He suggests their technology went further. In times of drought or when less water moved through the aquifer, the granite-lined chambers would have acted as conduits to keep the energy flowing — ‘like a car battery at a stop light’, he says.

Sunspot 1117 causing havoc on earth-facing side of the Sun

We clearly have more to learn on the subject. But as it happens we may have help. Our own star is beginning a new cycle of solar activity.

Under ‘normal’ solar conditions, the earth is surrounded by a fluctuating ‘coil’ of energy –an electromagnetic blanket holding all planetary systems stable– with geomagnetism humming like a top. But activity on the sun’s surface also fluctuates, sunspots come and ago and solar flares can interrupt this peaceful flow. The sun has just completed an 11-year ‘minimum’ cycle of fewer-than-normal sunspots. We have entered the runup to solar maximum expected in 2012, during which increased, even dramatic solar activity can occur.

An analogy that’s easy to comprehend is our Arctic and Antarctic geomagnetic activity that manifests as Aurora Borealis or Australis. These magnificent spectacles make themselves visible whenever solar flares –coronal mass ejections (CMEs) borne on the solar wind– penetrate the Earth’s geomagnetic shield. The journey from Sun to Earth usually takes 3-4 days and when they reach the poles their interaction with the geomagnetic field creates glorious nighttime light shows.

Aurorae are only some of the side effects of solar activity. Some CMEs are strong enough to disrupt communications systems and close down electronic and electromagnetic operations, traffic lights, power generators and the like. We may have to get used to them, as their frequency is increasing.

Crop Circles

Ephemeral Pewsey Vortex (cut within hours of its appearance):interdimensional tunnel to perception

In crop circle parlance it’s no longer unusual to hear of anomalous ultrasound, hovering light orbs or to find crop stems sculpted by a massive heat source. Visitors use them as spontaneous temples, lighting candles and whispering prayers. We are beginning to see technology greater than our own at work, manifesting in beautiful form in the corn, to capture our imagination, captivate our senses, alter our perception. And crop formations are, without exception, manifesting around nodes of earth’s magnetic energy, just as ancient sacred sites did.

Sound and light were used by the Ancients to generate awe, devotion and bring healing; to transport followers into a state of acceptance, belief and oneness with a higher power. Are we too entrenched in our fossil-fuel mentality, our agenda of skepticism, to see doors opening to reveal another world? a world where higher dimensional reality beckons and offers us a helping hand?
