“Only by going alone in silence, without baggage, can one truly get into the heart of the wilderness. All other travel is mere dust and hotels and luggage and chatter.” –John Muir, letter to his wife Louie from Yosemite, July 1888

Arbor Day weekend—sadly for the trees—falls on Easter this year: exactly one century after their truest lover, arboreal-sequoia-spirit, John Muir, born April 21, 1838 Dunbar, Scotland, died (December 24, 1914) of a broken heart in a Los Angeles hospital—a terminal scenario he most feared.

Arborophiles will gather this week for an unusual tree-planting ceremony. One of many initiatives in the U.S. capital during Earth Week to give credence to the memory of Sierra Club Founder John Muir, the tree-planting ceremony April 25th by Archangel Ancient Trees’ David Milarch at the National Institute for Health, Bethesda, MD will embed in the earth two clones of the ‘Hippocrates sycamore’, a gift from Greece to the U.S. in 1960. At that time, a cutting was taken from the original plane tree on Cos, as an intercultural exchange from the Father of Western Medicine who taught his acolytes there, 330B.C., to D.C.’s Institute of Health—whose whole-medical ethos is based on the Hippocratic Oath. Milarch’s work to clone the rootstock has succeeded. The Institute celebrates Earth Week with an annual tree planting in the capital.

Two hundred forty miles north of Dunbar, Trees for Life, a charitable group on a mission to restore Caledonian pine forest in sheep-torn northern Scotland, celebrates its twenty-fifth year of planting this summer. The Scots Government (RCAHMS & Forestry Commission) have been supporting individuals to plant small landholdings of remnant forest-cum-ancient monuments with indigenous trees, since 1988. They also celebrate twenty-five this year.

Dorothy Maclean, 94—surviving co-founder of the Findhorn Garden of miracle growth in Moray, Scotland—continues to speak daily to her Muses, her sweet pea Deva, and the Great Spirit. “If we hadn’t tuned into the Nature Devas and listened to their coaxing, we would just have been another meditation group,” she says of the fifty-two-year old Foundation, Center for Intentional Living and Eco-Village, which grew out of the caravan park where she planted her sweet peas. Her quiet stillness continues to inspire her friends and neighbors. The Findhorn Garden thrives.

Findhorn was fertile ground for many Earth-spiritual ideas. David Spangler, Co-Director 1970-1973, founded the Lorian Association, Issaquah, WA where he is Director of Education-Research. His Center for Incarnational Spirituality
focuses on exploring, understanding, and teaching Lorian’s understanding of the emerging spiritual impulse.

Long-time Findhorn trustee and believer in the angelic realms, author William Bloom regularly speaks on self-realization, and encourages living within nature and within one’s own spirit.

Our radiant energy pervades and gives rise to all life. While it may speak to us through plants, Nature spirits or the human beings with whom we share life on this planet, all are reflections of the deeper reality behind and within them. Myth has become reality in the Findhorn Garden, not to present us with a new form of spiritualism, but to offer us a new vision of life, a vision of unity.
Essentially, the Devas and Nature Spirits are aspects of our own selves, guiding us toward our true identity, the Divine Reality within.

Jim Dodge has been director of creative writing in the English department at Humboldt State University Arcata since 1995. Author of Fup, above, and Stone Junction, he believes like Maclean, Spangler and Bloom, that by surrounding oneself in nature, making it our friend, Nature has ways of teaching us to flow more intuitively, more naturally, as the waves of energy themselves. It is what is taught in all Native American wisdom.

He thought on it, mulling it with that slow, voluptuous thoroughness that comes with the still life. He paused. ‘Have you not found that hunger becomes most intense near the moment of satisfaction?’

John Muir would have been happy to see his trees—albeit several foreign imports—receive all this attention. But his first love—wilderness—and our 21st-Century attitude to it, would have him totally confused.

Because this weekend also heralds Spring Break—Brit, Easter Hols—and a sudden switch of fortune for spaceweather-worry-warts from Arctic deepfreeze to Caribbean breathless balmy (courtesy current incoming M-class solar flare, below sidebar right); American teenage tin-soldiers are on the march.

Parents in tow, willingly or otherwise, the great Easter adventure is to pit one’s child against Nature, and hope the family comes back in one piece, if not in one tent. Media classes in kayaking and backpacking abound, boyscout-girl-guide firemaking is ‘awesome possum’; endless catalogs touting latest designer all-weather gear, space-age freeze-dried GMO-mush in non-recyclable plastic bombs serve to make vacation roughing it more smooth… or maybe it’s to give Mom relief and a catalog to read, when wet wood spits out the camp fire.

School vacations occur, regardless of solar maxima, X-class and M-class flares incoming, internet interruptions, and Chaos Theory.

What currently cool school kids may fail to grasp, in their quest for astral Tesla solar panels, ear-to-ear-sound, and instant palm-top X-box hacking, is that there is no internet on a mountain top; arborophiles and tree sitters hug trees, not cut them down. What their parents may fail to notice is increasing wear and tear on the planet brought on by human indifference.

According to Forbes Magazine, ‘Gallup poll reports more than sixty percent Americans believe effect of global warming is happening during their lifetimes, yet only 25% worry about it.’

Local tolerance during full moon madness, combined with Easter, the new growing season and runup to Beltane and Cinco de Mayo, is just too much for some local redwoods residents. They close their gates, get out the shotgun, ask stray campers, their single-parent wildchild wannabes—and their litter—to leave.

Meanwhile, Milarch and his research team have been scouring Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park along infamous Tsunami Alley in Northern Humboldt, in search for the last undiscovered sequoia sempervirens.

It will not have helped matters in the ‘real world’ that Wilderness has not been cared for at Muir’s level for several decades, much less in the one hundred twenty years since he and President Roosevelt founded the Sierra Club in 1892—to take care of Mother N where John M left off. Teddy Roosevelt, at Muir’s insistence, brought 430 million acres of land under federal protection during his presidency.

At the end of his life, Muir and Sierra Club fought a bitter battle on construction of the O’Shaughnessy Dam over Hetch Hetchy Valley in his beloved Yosemite National Park.

1890s Chute harvested redwood logs, wooden trains, flumes called Miracles of the Age hauled lumber to sawmill yards

1890s Chute harvested redwood logs, wooden trains, flumes called Miracles of the Age hauled lumber to sawmill yards

Muir used his solitary voice in the wilderness; Sierra Club used lawyers.

Seen as the first major battle of the environmental movement, it pales by comparison with present treesit, earth-aware group initiatives, and corporate legal wrangling. But for Muir, who had seen his work put an end to ruthless tree-felling, an exploitative timber trade, this betrayal bruised his spirit. On Christmas Eve, 1914—just over a year after Congress authorized the dam’s construction against his wishes—Muir died of pneumonia in southern California.

His work was seminal. He inspired generations of naturalists, and brought pioneer spirit, raw enthusiasm and innocence to an American system which has only calcified since his time.

National Parks hit by recent budget cuts made wilderness vacations less fun than fatiguing, more stressful than stretching. So, some public opinion has made inroads, in California, Colorado and Washington at least.

David Milarch admits his search for the ultimate sequoia is a hunt for a trigger to activate his own DNA. He believes the trees have more to teach us than we presently have capacity to learn, but thinks, like Dodge’s immortal Granddaddy, that time is on our side.

In 1982, a shy genius marine bacteriological USC professor Milo Appleman, Ph.D., published his Epitaph for Planet Earth: How to Survive the approaching End of the Human Species, (Frederick Fell, New York). His predictions of the North Pacific Garbage Gyre and (projected) effect of human pollution on world oceans fell on deaf ears. Now, trillions of dollars worldwide are spent annually on so-called cleanup operations.

Media moguls, bored with political stalemate, seem to have brightened viewers’ choices by reaching for the heavens: coverage of April 15th’s first blood moon total lunar eclipse of 2014, along with juxtaposition of Mars, Jupiter and Mercury in the northern night sky, broke Nielsen ratings for a decade. This means more people may be—unconsciously—influenced by the stars!

What they didn’t say—management order not to frighten viewers—is that, energetically, planet earth is still laboring under the aegis of Saturn and Uranus, planets of change, lined up in a Cardinal Grand Cross, which began March 2010 and will not leave us alone until June 2016. This means massive change for society, but also inner change for the individual. Spaceweather and glory of the stars? this is only the beginning.

So-called primitive Man has always looked to the heavens for guidance. He derived comfort in infinite Divine balance of number. Gematria, Judaic name-number of God, reflects supreme balance in Fibonacci Phi spiral that permeates the Universe. In known civilizations of antiquity—China, Babylon, Egypt—arithmetic-number was sacred, as source of all knowledge, a guide to rightful conduct in art, music, affairs of state.

Ancient Science was based like today on number, but whereas it is now used quantitatively in a secular sense, the Ancients saw numbers as symbols of the Universe. They inhabited a living creature of divine fabrication, designed in accordance with reason, and thus, to some extent, comprehensible by the human mind.
John Michell, Dimensions of Paradise, 1988

Comet ISON whet public appetite, current planetary alignments, plus total lunar and annular solar (visible only in Antarctica 4/29) eclipses and Lyrid meteor shower all in one week are a heady mix. Within the vise of a six-year Grand Cross, daily change is beginning to look scary. The streetwise kid knows at gut level what the Ancients knew by precise calculation: Fireworks in the sky means group change—maybe even all change.

When solar storms and volcanic activity start to make EarthMama shake, even the masses look to the skies. There are three more total lunar eclipses to complete a tetrad over the next year—encouraging ingénue stargazing—10/8/14; 4/4/15, 9/28/15. Even New Age television seems to be getting stardust in its teeth.

Humans—through Nature—have always thrilled to the presence of the Divine—Muse—in dance, music, water, sound and light. Losing our way in the 21st Century, like those tree people of the past, may not be an option. So, please, would all ’Sixties’ Back-to-the-Land BabyBoomer survivors—or any who sold out to the system and regret—please stand. Along with treesitters in the mold of Julia Butterly Hill, and activists of the ’Noughties, now our flower-power really counts.

Solstitial Stillness : Prelude to Midsummer Madness?

June 25, 2013

Solstice, they say, should be a time of stillness. Ancient civilizations—however primitive our society views them—were aware of the sun’s influence on their lives and its ability apparently to ‘stand still’ twice each year, when it reaches its greatest distance from the celestial equator. Now, in the Enlightened Aquarian Age, we hold festival over winter to celebrate that time of change. What do we do in summer? Go on vacation? Study crop circles? Some continue to work right through this special time, not realizing our connection to its ancient traditions, rooted in the earth.

Party Time!
Some cultures continue to make offerings, like the Ayamara in Peru. English do Maypole dance, Cornish have their Green Man bonfires, Nevada its Burning Man Festival, August 26-September 2nd this year, and California its music. So perhaps the consciousness behind celebrating in the fields is not totally lost to urbanites, if we can drink in the stillness offered by nature and make an effort to incorporate calm communion with the Earth in our everyday lives.

Classical civilization certainly knew how to do that—and party. And if they didn’t have gods of their own to offer obeisance and reverence to, they imported others. Saturnalia was known throughout the Roman world as the epitome of winter revelry, debauchery, excess, as the only time the old rigid god Saturn let down his hair. Equally, in summertime, they pulled out all the stops, liberally borrowing gods and goddesses from other cultures as themes suited.

Cybele, adopted as Mother-protectrix of Rome's 'city and fields' wore the Phrygian helmet-crown of warrior goddess

Cybele adopted as Mother-protectrix of Rome’s ‘city and fields’ wore the Phrygian helmet-crown of warrior goddess

Cybele, right, the original pre-classical (Bronze Age, c.8thC BC) Indo-European Earth Mother warrior goddess from Phrygia-Anatolia, Turkey—symbol of fertility, earth’s swelling summer cornucopia of growth and abundance—was converted for her ‘psychic powers’ to take a place in the Greek and Roman pantheon. The Sybil who issued prophetic knowledge, like the Delphic Oracle, was her Roman adaptation. She was guardian of Rome. Her Egyptian equivalent was revered as Earth Mother figure Hathor; but the later Greeks, succumbing to male-dominant cultural needs, altered her concept of ‘love’ to one embodied by Aphrodite—losing the earth connection.

The Earth Mother of prehistoric cultures—whose neolithic carved dolls date to pre-Ice Age Europe—survives in vestigial worship of Inca Pachamama in Bolivia, but had turned volte-face in the Aegean by the time of the Trojan wars, when male physical prowess and warlike behavior on all fronts were supreme in Greek eyes. It is curious to note that hero of the Trojan wars, Paris, embodying male physical beauty, pure in mind, focused in war and manly pursuits like discus and javelin dexterity, was an imported ‘alien'(suppressed culture) superhero who wore the prehistoric Phrygian helmet (like Cybele), denoting his more ancient origins. The Roman army dedicated its legions’ souls to the care of Mithras—another import from Phrygia, complete with godly war-helmet.

Where the primeval mother-warrior had battled time and the elements for the good of the Earth, bringing fruits in season, male culture—in taking over the role of earth-caretaker—may have gone a little overboard on the warrior front.

In astrological circles this solstitial time is seen as one of huge change—in context of life, personal vision, and clearing away old debris, solstitial chart by Astrotheme, left.

Astronomically, NASA/NOAA’s solstitial prediction for ‘few’ aurorae over the midsummer period, includes a mention by the space agency of meteor showers, Eta Delphinids, M-class solar flares ongoing, with resulting storms hitting earth through June and July. Earth’s magnetosphere activity is listed as ‘unsettled’ during this period, see changes sidebar right. We are, after all, midway through solar maximum, 2013.

Somewhere between the two star camps there appears in the northern sky one of our least-known yet most massive constellations, only visible in summer: Ophiuchus. Both astro sides agree: this giant (dim) group of stars stretching from the head of Scorpio across Libra and Virgo, to touch the (upside-down) head of Hercules at zenith, brings into the summer sky images—and concepts from the ancient mind—most appropriate to this silly season. Because of the cosmic quirk of precession of the equinoxes—earth’s ‘wobble’ on its axis bringing it successively through each of the zodiac signs, backwards—we in the Aquarian Age in Earth’s subtropical, tropical and temperate zones are seeing—many for the first time—two gigantic constellations which were familiar to the Ancients, who anthropomorphized them as expressions of their own conflicting ideals.

backwards thru Zodiac~~ Aquarius: water-bearer, far-sighted visionary, troubled by burdens—symbol of the Age
Capricorn: seagoat, god of cardinal order, old (outworn? Saturnian) mechanisms, consistently appears at midsummer full moon to put cat among pigeons…
Sagittarius: archer, ruled by Jupiter: Jovian happy-spirited lover of nature, trying to hold balance between the above and…
Scorpio: scorpion, fixed water=ice symbolic of birth, death and rebirth, transfiguration; overcoming impediments, its sting-in-tail never allows others to relax

enter~~ Ophiuchus, serpent bearer holding both ends of constellation Serpens in his hands: Serpens Cauda, tail in his right; Serpens Caput, head in his left.

Constellation Ophiuchus, Flamsteed Celestial Atlas, 1776

Constellation Ophiuchus, Flamsteed Celestial Atlas, 1776

Ophiuchus: Ὀφιοῦχος “Serpent-bearer”, serpent-wielding handler of snakes, transitioned from his ancient image of enlightened Man wrestling-with-conscience through medieval image of unbridled male sexual power, to Georgian image of protective fatherly person-of-age and wisdom and healing, to Victorian preoccupation with—mostly male—medical profession—caduceus, or *thyrsus a symbol of healing derived from a rod (bamboo, fennel, or the male member) wrapped in a vine, ivy or flower garlands.

Unusually, both ‘scientific’ and ‘psychic’ astros agree, constellation Ophiuchus will dominate the July 2013 sky, rising higher than it has in the last two thousand years. Some extreme astrologers have suggested rearranging the traditional/tropical zodiac, to make room for another constellation (because his feet actually stand on the ecliptic, between Scorpio and Sagittarius). Current western astrology, however, is a convention developed from zodiac signs visible in Roman/Greek skies, using attributes associated with cultural gods/seasons/beliefs of that time, and these which would lose meaning if arbitrarily rearranged.

As Ophiuchus makes its first appearance since the “EndTimes of 2012″—brighter and more dominant than at any time in human memory—there may be another message for us in its new guise.

Greco-Roman god Priapus, rescued fresco from Pompeii c.AD79, Archaeological Museum of Naples

Greco-Roman god Priapus, rescued fresco from Pompeii c.AD79, Archaeological Museum of Naples

PRIAPOS was the rustic god of the Ancient world, responsible through his unbridled fertility for the bounty of the vegetable garden. Later stylized as a dwarfish entity with a huge penis, which symbolized garden fertility, originally his head was crowned with a peaked Phrygian cap, belying his origin as a god, native to the Hellespont, ancient Phrygia. His cult was introduced into Greece and Italy, where his mythology was reinterpreted in Greek terms. Greeks naturally named him a son of one of their phallic gods: either Hermes/Mercury or, more often Dionysos. His mother was Aphrodite. They were accompanied by satyrs Orthanes and Tykhon.

Priapos/Priapus was honored by Greeks, Romans, Mysians, Hittites, Egyptians (their Apis, bull of fertility) as protector of sheep, goats, bees, the vine and of all garden produce. In formative cultures, the phallus was the ancient emblem of creation. It represented gods Bacchus, Priapus, Hermaphroditus, Hercules, Shiva, Osiris, Baal and Asher, who were all Phallic deities. Roman Priapus, a stylized symbol of Rome’s mastery of the then world, had odes written to him and poems pinned on patio phalluses in gardens of aristocratic ladies who wished to keep their arboreal spirits potent.

The most famous extant depiction of Priapus is the Pompeiian fresco, above. He is crowned with peaked Phrygian cap, shown weighing his enormous member on a set of scales against the produce of the fields. He wears Phrygian war-boots, and has a Bacchic, cone-tipped thyrsus* resting by his side.

Burning Man annual late summer festival in Black Rock Nevada desert

Burning Man annual late summer festival in Black Rock Nevada desert

In festive summer frolics, Priapus was depicted accompanied by garden nymphs, dyads and maenads, each waving a flower-wreathed *thyrsus—a wand made from fennel or bamboo, with a pierced pine-cone at its tip, which nymphs used as mini-phalluses to poke at the unitiated or to ward off satyrs and unwanted suitors.

In Celtic mythology he is the god of spring, Greenman, vestigial Druid prince-king-god who invoked fertility for his land through dance in sacred groves where tree and nature-spirits dwell.

Primitive statues of the god were traditionally set up in vegetable plots to promote fertility, with the added benefit of functioning as a type of scarecrow for scaring away birds. But when garden gnomes became a late 19thC fashion, their priapic member was eliminated in the mass-produced version, as Victorian sensibilities dictated that such garden gnomes NOT display their ‘private parts’, in case ladies in passing carriages should succumb to the ‘vapors’ and require medical assistance.

Priapic Preoccupation in Crop Circles
Victorian humor aside, Priapos was genuinely revered as patron of the garden, guardian of growth for all crops, and it is a relief to see this multi-faceted countryside god showing his (at least symbolic) head above ground—as a sign of bounty to come?—in the first two-phase crop circle appearance at Stanton St Bernard, Wiltshire, June 21st.

Solstitial crop circles have traditionally sent some of the clearest messages as the theme of a season; it is tempting to believe that the paucity of designs in Wiltshire—twelve during June; British total for season—is one of those. Meanwhile, crop circle anticipation remains high: manfully upheld by the Italian contingent, as the fields of Rome, Tuscany and northern Italy have had a relatively ‘normal’ growing season—that in itself may suggest we show a little deference to our classical heritage.

Stanton St Bernard dual-phase priapic crop circle points to ancestral Milk Hill

So it is riveting to see that the season’s first ‘complex’ symbol should appear right on schedule—over solstice—in the Wiltshire ‘hub‘, in the same fields which created all the uproar last year, see Siderealview archives.

*Seen as a thyrsus, (typically, English has no translation for a wand wreathed in flowers sporting a bristle like a dildo), its pinecone-like business end pointed straight at Milk Hill—representative of ancient Earth Mother-milk-and-honey-bounty—the first meaningful crop circle of the season may once more be pulling at us with multiple strands. Targeting the Mother hill (the highest in Wiltshire) goes partway to awakening dormant English respect for ancient ways. By incorporating the dildo-pinecone in a sword- (or thyrsus-like) javelin cut straight through the barley and aimed at Milk Hill’s symbol of male strength—the horse riding the Mother—this crop design rekindles memories of pineal gland/third eye crop formations of summer 2011.

Messages then were that we/’Society’ release our male left-brain stranglehold on our fragile 21stC world, allow the female intuitive right-brain heart-centered side to come out of dormancy and express more freely. And that the pleasure zone: endorphins, melatonin and the pineal gland, function together as a means to synthesize and synchronize this new awareness in us humans by connecting our mind-body-spirit back to our terrestrial home.

Now, in post-Omega-Point reflection through a slow growing season, we are reminded to temper our left hemisphere destruction of habitat, and instead to devote time to more reverent and respectful treatment of our earthly environment.

To add to this summer madness, Ophiuchus rises to full stature in the northern July night, unseen until now in such grandeur by 21stC eyes. He stands diametrically opposite Orion, filling the southern arc of the night sky, his feet astride the ecliptic, between Sagittarius and Scorpio, his head grazed by the upside-down head of Hercules at zenith. Grasping with both hands he wields the Serpent: Serpens Caput in his left; Serpens Cauda in his right, the dual twisting constellation locked between his outstretched legs, as if caught in flagrante delicto, not a god, but a man wrestling his (inner and) outer demons.

Summer’s greatest blessing is that we northerners can relax, feel warm, surrounded by earth’s cornucopia of beauty, vegetative growth at its height—lulled into enjoying the brief season without thought to winter, responsibility, cold… the grasshopper and ant scenario. Or, with American Independence Day July 4th just around the corner, could consciousness of the ‘Silly Season’ already be taking hold? Celebrate now for tomorrow we die?

Facing One’s Power in the Age of Light

January 25, 2012

The Electric Universe

Electromagnetism invades all walks of life. It permeates inventions, discoveries in electronics; and revolutionary use of crystalline and silicone technology has brought it into the mainstream where it now affects all strata of world culture.

Yet behind the scenes, we know that its ephemeral nature — its very essence as a ‘force’ on Earth — makes it fragile and open to disruption by an even greater electromagnetic source — that powering our Sun.

The Superstorm of September 1859 known as the Carrington Event is often quoted as earth’s worst magnetic storm, when the planet passed through a solar particle storm (coronal mass ejection, CME) lasting a week. Most of middle N.America was without rudimentary communication; telegraph systems worldwide were disrupted; spontaneous fires broke out. If such an Event were to happen now, there would be complete electronic blackout: hitting communications satellites, GPS; knocking out high-frequency radio communications which airplanes use to fly polar routes; overload electrical grids and blow out transformers, i.e. geo-collapse.

Much recent work by the Thunderbolts Project, glowing from their January 6-8, 2012 Conference, has shed light on electromagnetic powering of stars and galaxies. Key points of their theory give weight to an Electric Universe over one dominated by gravity and black holes:

Electricity now seen to play a more significant role in the Universe than previously accepted;

Sun and stars electrically powered by drift currents (Electric Connection)

Planetary surface features like craters, dendritic structures and rilles caused by super-lightning (electrical scarring)

Certain cosmic phenomena are electrical in nature, including:
Comet tails (electric comets)
The plumes of Enceladus
Martian dust devils
Galaxy formation and dynamics — circumventing the need for black holes and dark matter

Electricity and Magnetism as Waves of Light

B1509 pulsar called The Hand of God

In 1860 a 30-year old Scot at Cambridge, James Clerk Maxwell, discovered that the interplay between vibrating magnetic and electric fields created a wave.

He found that electric or magnetic fields alone could not create a wavelike motion; only the delicate interplay between electric and magnetic fields could produce this special wave.

At the time the universe as Man knew it consisted of Newtonian gravity, the four elements of alchemy and the metaphysical belief in ethers surrounding Earth. Space was the unknown frontier, a vast unexplored vacuum. Yet Maxwell proposed these waves operated in that void.

“To most physicists Maxwell’s idea seemed preposterous because there was no ‘ether’ to conduct these waves. Maxwell’s fields were ‘disembodied’ and moved by themselves, without a conducting medium.” Michio Kaku ‘Beyond Einstein: Cosmic Quest for A Theory of the Universe’, 1995.

Maxwell discovered light was made up of electric fields (E) and magnetic fields (B) which oscillate in unison --electric fields vibrate vertically, magnetic fields horizontally

Maxwell was undaunted. Using his equations to calculate, he found he was able to derive a specific number for the speed of this wave. He was astonished to find it was the speed of light. Light was revealed as a series of electric fields chained and interconnected with — and turning into — magnetic fields. Maxwell had accidentally discovered that his equations unraveled the nature of light as an electromagnetic wave.

Theory of Everything
His revelation was the first unified field theory — affectionately called the TOE: Theory of Everything.

Ever since Maxwell’s ground-breaking work, Light has been seen as the electro-magnetic force, created by vibration of electric and magnetic fields rapidly turning into each other;

RADAR, ULTRAVIOLET, INFRARED, RADIO, MICROWAVES, TELEVISION and X-RAYS

are intertwined and speed-linked forms taken by the electromagnetic wave.

Electric Universe theory supported by the inter-disciplinary Thunderbolts Project has built on the work begun by Maxwell; expanded and expounded by Albert Einstein’s phenomenal mind; triggered by quantum theory. Like its sister, Stanford prof. Leonard Susskind’s Holographic Universe Theory, which also defies the old ‘black-hole model’, EU’s proponents are excited by unprecendented confirmations of their original predictions.

Recent EU predictions are confirmed by mainstream astrophysicists using ever-complex telescope technology not available in Maxwell’s time, but now able to detect electrical activity throughout the Universe.

Supernova 1987A in the Magellanic Cloud, closest supernova event (169,000 light years distant) since the invention of the telescope, exhibits massive electrical discharges from its central star

“The EU model has brought vastly more success than those from the mainstream. For instance, no one can argue that the ‘astonishing’ outburst of Comet Holmes 17P was ‘predictable’ nor even understandable by mainstream scientists. There are many other recent data and discoveries: from the validation of the electric Sun/Earth connection, to the observation of ‘impossibly’ huge cosmic ‘voids’, to the ongoing ‘mystery’ of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays… to anomalous (i.e. electrical) space weather. We are seeing precisely what one should expect if the predominant force in the heavens is electricity, not gravity”
Michael Goodspeed, Electric Universe Predictions

Supernova 1987A depicted in crop designs in Italy and Czech Republic, June-July 2011

A massive and graphic example of classic electrical discharge and stranding from a star is Supernova 1987A, above and left — the closest supernova event to happen in our skies since the invention of the telescope. First seen in February 1987 in the Magellanic Cloud, our dwarf companion galaxy to the Milky Way 169,000 light years from Earth, its discharges have increased and brightened since its discovery.

“Close observation since its appearance in 1987 provides proof that supernovae are catastrophic electrical discharges focused on a star.” Thunderbolts Project

GEO600 gravitational wave detector, Sarstedt, Germany picks up strange sounds

Meanwhile German scientists have been trying to understand why their equipment measuring gravitational waves is picking up strange sounds.

Craig Hogan, professor of astronomy and physics, U.Chicago and director of Fermilab’s Center for Particle Astrophysics in Batavia, Illinois feels GEO600 has stumbled upon the fundamental limit of space-time –- the point where space-time stops behaving like the smooth continuum Einstein described and instead dissolves into ‘grains’, just as a newspaper photograph dissolves into dots as you zoom in.

Prof. Craig Hogan, UChicago and Director of FermiLab

“It looks like GEO600 is being buffeted by the microscopic quantum convulsions of space-time.

“If the GEO600 result is what I suspect it is, then we are all living in a giant cosmic hologram.

“The idea that we live in a hologram probably sounds absurd, but it is a natural extension of our best understanding of black holes, and something with a pretty firm theoretical footing. It has also been surprisingly helpful for physicists wrestling with theories of how the universe works at its most fundamental level.” Craig Hogan, Director FermiLab.

These holograms can be imagined like those on credit cards and banknotes etched on two-dimensional plastic film. When light bounces off them, it recreates the appearance of a 3D image. In the 1990s physicists Leonard Susskind and Nobel prizewinner Gerard ‘t Hooft suggested that the same principle might apply to the universe as a whole, see above and here. These physicists explain that our everyday experience might itself be a holographic projection of physical processes taking place on a distant, 2D surface.

Controversy still surrounds electrical activity powered by our own Sun. Aurora (borealis and australis) are accepted as electromagnetic phenomena occurring at the poles following a solar flare; electrically-charged plasma can knock out power lines and wreak havoc in city distribution grids; but still the person-in-the-street does not look upon the sun as an electromagnetic engine capable of causing seismic disturbance (potentially on a vast scale) on our little terrestrial globe.

All this week Earth inhabitants are being rocked within a huge radiation storm of M-class and X-class flares — an electromagnetically-charged curtain of particles which left the Sun last Friday. Spectacular auorae confirmed NOAA’s Solar and Geomagnetic Field Indicator (right sidebar bottom) flashing Flare/Orange Storm/Red.

SpaceWeather and NASA upgraded their warning to M-9 class flare (threshold X-flare, the largest), since a further CME erupted from the Sun yesterday. Its leading edge hit Earth one hour later and, as it continues through the solar system, it will strike Mars January 25th. This radiation storm comes with a punch. It shot earthwards at 4million mph, much faster than the usual CME, catching up with its predecessor in one day. Some southern US states have suffered electronic failure.

NASA’s Goddard Space Center is monitoring this particular solar storm carefully as it has a triple payload: electromagnetic radiation is followed by radiation in the form of protons. Then the CME —- plasma from the sun itself — provides the backlash. This makes the geomagnetic field wobble and shake and scatters electromagnetic currents everywhere. It is plasma which can cause electrical grid malfunction. Goddard helio-physicists are following closely as increasing activity confirms the sun’s move from an 11-year solar minimum towards solar maximum expected 2013.

According to Goddard analysts, Friday’s CME strongly compressed Earth’s magnetic field and briefly exposed satellites in geosynchronous orbit to solar wind plasma. Earth’s magnetic field continues to reverberate from the impact, with further buffeting expected. Arctic aurorae have been spectacular.

In the electronic revolution internet sites have sprung up all over declaring that 2012 brings about the end of the world.

Others that, through our inner looking glass, we will rebirth whatever we conceive heaven to be — and make it manifest.

Still others rebel against the Old Guard, denouncing corrupt rulers. Like the Roman Decline, their Empire is tottering, crashing, while the people feast and fest: bread and circuses; football and Olympic Games.

‘Now that no one buys our votes, the public has long since cast off its cares; the people that once bestowed commands, consulships, legions, and all else, now meddle no more and long eagerly for just two things — bread and circuses’

Just as Nero (AD37-68) was chastised for fiddling while Rome burned, the RichList are now being questioned for their jetset behaviour.

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION

Esther Hicks continues to bring the Law of Attraction to a mass audience

Among the plethora of New Age guidance and self-help gurus suggesting we listen to our inner voice is Esther Hicks, 64, recently widowed, life-partner of Jerry, soul-partner of ‘Abraham’ — her off-planet/oversoul voice that she shares with millions. Described by some as a ‘channeler’ for Abraham, a group of clearly evolved teachers, speaking their broader non-physical perspective through her physical body, she continues to write, broadcast, and offer workshops on practising the Law of Attraction.

“Contrast helps you identify desire. Desire is summoning. It’s always flowing through you. You have the opportunity to open to the harmony of the vibration of your desire or not. As the desires are being summoned through you, and you go with the flow, you thrive, but if you use things to be your excuse for not going with the flow, you are arguing for your limitations. We want to show you how to go with the flow, which means nothing more than finding vibrational harmony with your own desire, and letting the Universal Energy that your desire is summoning to flow through you. It is optimum creative experience”
— Abraham

She chose to continue her work after her husband Jerry’s death in November 2011, and has a workshop schedule planned — albeit brief — for the winter months touring the southern United States until April. Her bestselling book — The Vortex, 2009 — provides focus for these forays into the human psyche and her hands-on — or spirit-speaking — approach has helped thousands to find their own positive role in life.

“Nothing needs to be fixed. Everything is unfolding perfectly. So when you stand in your now accepting that all is well, then from that vibration, you become surrounded by more and more evidence that all is well. But when you’re convinced that things are broken, that there is pollution, or that things have gone wrong, or that the government is doing conspiracies… then what happens is you get caught up in that vibration, and you begin to manifest that kind of stuff, and then you say, ‘See, I told you that things were going wrong.'” — Abraham

The Law of Attraction says ‘that which is Like unto itself is drawn’ Abraham-Hicks

“When you play the What-If? game, look for things that make you feel better. There is never a situation in which there is not a way out but, out of habit, most people continue to choose the ‘lack’ perspective until they eventually find themselves where it seems that there are no more choices. But as you hold your intention to look for evidence of Wellbeing and thriving and success and happiness, you will tune yourself to the vibrations of those things and so those kinds of good-feeling experiences will dominate your life” — Abraham

The Law of Attraction, a term coined in the first decade of the 20th Century, is a belief which has outlived its proponents in the New Thought and Theosophist movements of the metaphysical community to become a 21st Century byword. The human mind seems incapable of encompassing the totality of the universe in its complexity, so it filters the reality to let in only a miniscule fragment.

What the mind understands becomes one’s fact or reality, and what it doesn’t, does not even exist in one’s world/universe. Forays by the mind out into that infinite source of knowledge-comprehension-belief bring understanding back into the individual’s sphere of experience, i.e. what we think becomes real.

DMT molecule in accurate detail at Roundway, July 23, 2011. 2 days later its companion CC showed human pineal gland

Genuine crop circles — particularly to the cropcircle community who await the 2012 season with bated breath — are extreme examples of this belief system, where during summer months in Britain, and now in several European and American countries, crop formations transmit code for information accessible only by the subconscious mind. Particularly relevant to our train of thought are two crop circles which appeared in succession at Roundway, Wiltshire in July 2011 showing the human ‘feel-good’ centre — the pineal gland which generates melatonin — two days after the same DMT molecule manifested in accurate detail nearby (above). It is common knowledge that spontaneous healings, human warmth and friendship and synchronistic meetings have occurred in crop circles. Roundway, near Devizes is — in electromagnetic terms — seething with cross currents accessible by dowsers and magnetometer readings. Many believe that in addition to their embedded code, designs connect at a subliminal level with our DNA.

Inspirationally, crop circles have had a hold over a large world audience because of the electronic miracle of aerial photography, mostly courtesy CCC and the Silent Circle, with instant rebroadcast over the internet. Within mainstream media (television and radio), the jury is still out.

The crop circle following is comparable with devotees of The Secret (2006), and What the Bleep do we Know (2004) which built on the New Thought Movement theme and brought many new names into the spiritual self-mastery movement, including quantum physicist Gregg Braden and Doctors Joe Vitale, Joe Dispenza, and Deepak Chopra. While Oprah was soaking up television audiencies, these MDs/PhDs were the first cultural phenomenon to bounce off the burgeoning internet. Six years on, within social media — Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+ — such spiritual discussion is commonplace; crop circle excitement quick to spread.

2 pendulums control a pen over a writing surface: Edison's harmonograph drew spirals, ellipses & figures of eight

After the Superstorm of 1859, New England’s ‘tech industry’ at the formative MIT (19thC equivalent of today’s Silicon Valley in California) fostered youthful Thomas Edison’s interest in telegraph technology (with A.Graham Bell’s help) to produce the first ‘harmonic telegraph’.

His ‘harmonograph’ and ‘multiplex transmitter’ were the embryo internet of his day, scratchily etching sounds and rudimentary pictures from an electric signal: a path which changed communications in the western world.

It is tempting to speculate that one of the superstorms of the sun’s impending solar maximum might similarly create (temporarily adverse) conditions which could foster even wilder leaps of imagination in inventors using the medium of light-waves to create previously uncontemplated splendours.

Crop circle messages and the Large Hadron Collider: Pewsey CC solstice 2010 calculated Phi --'golden mean'-- but looked suspiciously like the CERN accelerator

Maxwell, Nikola Tesla, Edison and Einstein would have loved to live now — in the world we take for granted — to flip keys instead of switches to bring rainbow reality into the drabness of their black-and-white world: Maxwell and Einstein to see the Higgs-Boson particle cast doubt on a fixed speed for light; Tesla to discover his rotating electromagnetic field could drive ships to the stars; and for Edison to see that Wall Street still uses a version of his stock-ticker! One wonders how they would view the latest iPod or the ability to speak on Skype.

“The purpose of our journey on this precious Earth is now to align our souls with our personalities: to create harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life; to grow spiritually. This is our new evolutionary pathway. The old pathway — pursuing the ability to manipulate and control — no longer works. It now produces only violence and destruction.” Gary Zukav

Worldwide prophecies, from ‘Heaven-on-Earth’, to Messianic revelation, to the ‘Second Coming’ suggest the signs will appear in the skies. The classical Maya religiously kept watch to document and measure the paths of heavenly bodies as a means of calculating when this New Age would dawn.

This week should give us an inkling whether the signs in the skies are fulfilling prophecy or merely telling us to buckle up for the ride into the Light. Either way, it should be the ride of our lives.

February 12, 2011

Vortex, maelström, whirlpool: Nature's basic mechanism for transporting mass and energy effectively

“Nature seems to be a Book written in the Language of Mathematics” Galileo (1564-1642)

As communicators, we bloggers may sometimes feel we have been speaking but the words are not coming from inside our bodies. The words have been coming from somewhere else…

“For several months, we have been moving forward and are being released in small increments. We are in the birth canal –the tunnel– and in that space it is near impossible to ‘see’ anything. We feel we are not connected to anything. Alone in the tunnel, we have been traveling on a raft with no wind behind us, no oars and in still waters, with no-one to left or right. But now we are moving forward and this new movement is creating the strange feeling of being in two places at once.” Karen Bishop Emerging Earth Angels

Lightworker Karen Bishop suggests that the sensation of being lost, disconnected and alone will pass as humanity moves through this intermediary stage and into the great mass awakening to follow. This new sensation of bliss and purpose comes as soon as we “are enmeshed in our new spaces in a higher dimension.”

Schrödinger's Cat: quantum uncertainty principle (1935) reduced to the absurd

Higher dimensions, Alternate Reality, parallel Universes; the quantum paradox of ‘many worlds’: an unending conundrum of being in two places at the same time. Particle physicists pursuing the ‘God’ particle, Higgs-Boson, endlessly around circular underground tunnels on two continents. What do these concepts have in common?

Uncertainty principle: math simplifies quantum reality

Higher dimensions –or alternate ones– are presently the preoccupation of particle physicists, quantum cosmologists and proponents of the holographic universe in our search for the meaning of Reality. Physics, cosmology and mathematics are crossing the boundaries between science and philosophy.

New Age lightworkers are becoming more assured and vocal in their prediction of a mass awakening in human consciousness. And it looks as if science is beginning to agree.

Max Tegmark, astrophysicist, cosmologist and professor in the physics faculty at MIT in Cambridge, Mass likes the idea of parallel universes: the quantum mechanics (QM) paradox of a particle’s ability to be in two places at the same time. He sees mathematics as our ultimate connection to reality. “Math is not something we invented, but something we are continually rediscovering.”

“We now have equations that describe how light behaves, how gravity behaves, how atoms behave. We can express the speed of light in mathematical terms. It is beautiful. In math we capture the essence of a very complicated Universe out there.”

What if we were to see the Universe not as an entity that exists inside space and time, but that space and time exist inside it?Max Tegmark, Prof. of Physics, MIT

Anton Zeilinger, author of Dance of the Photons 2005, translated into German as Einsteins Spuk, ‘Einstein’s Spook’ or ‘Ghost’, has a different view. He currently heads a team at the University of Vienna who have ‘teleported’ light photons 600 meters under the river Danube. He and his Austrian team of photon-busters have proved (in their ‘double-slit’ particle experiment) a basic quantum theory that we change the nature of reality simply by observing it.

“(Quantum Theory of Reality) is exciting, it is extremely precise, it is mathematically beautiful; and it describes everything. It just doesn’t make sense.” Anton Zeilinger

Quantum cosmologist, Leonard Susskind, professor of theoretical physics at Stanford University since 1979, says the beauty of math’s connection to reality is its simplicity. It becomes easier to describe reality with mathematics. “As you probe deeper, mathematics becomes the ONLY reality.”

But in sounding the depths of the cosmos, he uncovered many unanswered questions, e.g., the popular assignment of black holes as the bad guys of the Universe. He and Stephen Hawking discussed the black hole theory in 1988 when Hawking first published his Brief History of Time. “It changed my life.”

” I believed he was wrong. I spent the next 20 years working through the evidence to prove lt.”

Hawking suggested black holes were places in the cosmos which swallowed everything. Nothing escapes after it has breached the rim — event horizon — of a black hole. All light, matter, energy, information is sucked in by its (theoretical) huge gravitational pull and is lost. Nothing comes back out.

“Hawking had to be wrong. I refused to believe everything could disappear. We can’t allow information to be ‘lost’. Instead, how about if the horizon of a back hole is 3D like a hologram capturing 3D reality of everything that falls into it?”

In 1993 he and his graduate students announced their holographic principle of the Universe: that if all reality were indeed a hologram — a 3D model of everything captured as an image of our reality — maybe black holes were images of events taking place very far away: back in time; that our reality is a projection of a holographic record stored at the outer reaches of the Universe. The team became bold. They called a consortium of the world’s top physicists to a conference at Stanford in November 2009 and Susskind invited Stephen Hawking to speak. By then, Hawking was talking about ‘sideways’ or lateral time. But he was interested in Susskind’s holographic theory. And Susskind’s team was about to put it to the test.

“He didn’t get it. You don’t get it. Nobody gets it. But we may be about to prove that the whole of creation is a hologram.”

If the Stanford team is right, their model brings quantum cosmology, the ‘Many Worlds’ interpretation and New Age spiritualism into the same arena: We are what we believe, what we think and how we see our own Reality.

Or even more spiritual in concept, that Susskind’s ‘something stored at the outer reaches of the Universe’ might be the Intelligent Being/Source from whom mystics and devotees seek enlightenment.

Does this mean that the Cosmos is coming full circle?

We are having an intelligent conversation with the Universe.

The Universe may be providing its own answer to the question.

The Sun and solar system gravitate each year to and from Galactic center (of the Milky Way), coming closest in mid-December. It is a point on the ecliptic roughly in the constellation of Sagittarius from which (in the view of many esoteric disciplines and world religions) we emerged in the dark recesses at the beginning of time. In the view of some (physicists, cosmologists) Galactic Center is a black hole. To others (esoteric/New Age science), it is the source of a massive emission of photons, beaming information towards us, a ‘photon belt’ affecting Earth and human DNA. And we are circling in an irrevocable spiral back towards the point where on December 21, 2012 Earth’s orbit in the Solar System, the Sun’s position on the ecliptic and the center of our Galaxy will line up as one.

We may reach this galactic vortex unscathed. In the mythology of the Maya, this is Hunab Ku, our galactic heart; a sign that the Mayan Long Count Calendar is complete and that Mankind will start a new Count of Time.

In world mythology, earth was ground out from the mill of the Vortex, the great Maelström, the cosmic whirlpool. And so, in the eyes of the Maya at least, we are returning to that vortex, that pool of creation.

According to some Mayan scholars, we entered the last Underworld (phase of human evolutionary Consciousness), the Universal Underworld yesterday.

In the eyes of Karen Bishop and other New Age lightworkers who have been working tirelessly to prepare for the ‘Shift’ (in human consciousness), the runup to our rendezvous with the heart of our Galaxy is a sign of our Ascension, ‘coming home’, maturing as a species. To the fearful, solstice 2012 could mean chaos, collapse of Earth systems, erratic solar and stellar behavior; even a physical shift in earth’s poles.

The Sun, our partner up there in the immediate galactic neighborhood, has indeed been leading us a dance lately. Solar activity is on the increase.

Tiny solar burst crop circle in rice at Magelang, Java January 29th, 2011

We are currently headed for solar maximum, but it’s not sunspots –traditionally seen as the barometer for solar minima and maxima— that have featured, but strong warnings of solar flares disturbing our geomagnetic field.

NOAA’s solar X-ray alert system [view sidebar at right] has been signaling ‘major storm’, ‘active’. Twin crop circles* in Java in late January were followed by a third small design reminiscent of last season’s Wiltshire solar flare warnings.

Spaceweather alert.

And last weekend the Sun itself joined the 3D holographic universe.

Last Sunday, dubbed Superbowl SUNday by NASA and the media, February 6th 2011 marked the day when the space agency’s twin STEREO satellites locked into orbit round the sun and started projecting 3D pictures of both sides of the sun back to Earth.

Affectionately known as STEREOAhead and STEREOBehind, the craft were launched in 2006 on a mission to study solar flares [coronal mass ejections, CMEs] to predict solar storms headed towards earth. The two craft reached their final position [in ‘opposition’ to each other, 180ºdegrees apart] so NASA, SOHO, and SDA are now combined to beam a wholistic continuous view of the sun back to earthbound systems.

“We expect great advances in theoretical solar physics and space weather forecasting.”

Heliophiles are jumping for joy. The 3D stereo images arrived just in time to document new coronal holes forming on the sun’s far side, which are heading to face towards us.

STEREO went into orbit round the SUN last Superbowl SUNday

STEREO is an acronym for Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory. The two satellites now join forces with SOHO [NASA’s Solar & Heliospheric Observatory] which has carried the load of solar projections to date.

“In the past an active sunspot could emerge on the far side of the sun completely hidden from Earth. Then, the sun’s rotation would turn that region towards our planet, spitting flares and clouds of plasma, with little warning.”

Now, in the runup to solar maximum, 2012, these first 3D stereo images bring into focus our need to prepare for possible solar disruption to the geomagnetic field and earth’s electromagnetically-powered systems.

Coronal Holes, imaged from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory

Coronal holes on the sun’s surface are the source of open magnetic field lines from which high-speed solar wind particles stream out into space. This fast solar wind travels at approximately 800 km/s [about 1.8 million mph].

When this surge reaches Earth’s magnetosphere, predictably three or four days later, some spectacular fireworks can occur. Usually the spaceweather team tries not to alarm earth populations more than they really have to. So electromagnetic disruptions to power supplies and weather systems are downplayed. Aurora borealis –northern lights– are emphasized instead.

UV image of same solar holes: coronal flares heading earthwards

“After traveling through space for a few days the particles will impact the Earth and may spark the formation of some auroral activity for lucky spectators” NASA

In NASA’s study ‘of the nature of coronal mass ejections’ the agency is not responsible for reporting on physical repercussions strong emissions [M-class flares] may have on communications, logistical and transportation systems. There are three categories of flares, X-class, M-class and C-class. C-class flares are small, with few noticeable consequences in the geomagnetic field. M-class flares are medium-sized, capable of causing brief radio blackouts, affecting Earth’s polar regions. Minor radiation storms sometimes follow an M-class flare. The largest, X-class, flares are ‘Superstorms’, major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. Earth’s last major Superstorm blackout was the Carrington Event of 1859 when telegraph systems behaved erratically. But at the time the electric light had not yet been invented. **

150 years later our systems are massively dependent on NOT having magnetic surges play havoc with our electrical supply. Not to mention our telephone, television, cells, blackberries, macBooks, iPods, iPads… you get the picture.

So, is our Universe shaking its quantum hologram fist in our faces and saying ‘shape up or else…’? [In that context, we, reflections of the Intelligent Source, may be setting ourselves the test to see if we are ‘intelligent’/evolved enough to pass it].

Maelström, vortex of the Norwegian Sea

Or, is the vortex going to win? Is the black hole going to pull us in? Are we navigating the cosmic whirlpool alone with no-one to save us from drowning?

Mythology and spiritual belief predict Mankind has enough presence of mind to make a quantum leap in consciousness, to save itself. History says it’s never too late to start anew. Native American and Maya traditions say now is a good time.

I hope we’re listening.
